No Reserve 1997 Lx450 W/ Lockers Bfgs 165k Southern Truck on 2040-cars
Greenville, South Carolina, United States
No Reserve 165,748 miles White with Tan Leather Front, center and rear Locking Differentials that engage and disengage properly Mostly Southern Truck: 3 years in Florida, then 3 Years in Ohio, then the previous owner owned it for the last 11 years in Georgia Only a little minor rust on the undercarriage, see pics No Check Engine Light Cold AC Power windows, mirrors and locks work well, power antenna just replaced (after pics were taken). Interior is clean and odor free. Driver seat leather is cracking. Driver side seat motor gear is stripped out for the front to back adjustment. I think the seat is currently in the rear most position, which, due to the leg room in these is suitable for people of average height or taller. If the buyer/winning bidder so chooses I can recover the seats with high quality Lexus pattern leather and fix the driver seat gear for $1250 before delivery. (Leather from MetricTLC.) (Its a good bit of labor and I don't really want to do it, just offering the service to the buyer.) I have done this on a few other 80s, I just haven't had the time to do this one. Payment for the vehicle would come first, then I would do the work. (If it were me, Id probably drive it as is until the leather gets really bad and/or put some nice canvas seat covers on it.) I can also fix just the seat motor for $250 if buyer so chooses. (I don't really want or have the time to do that either, just offering it to help facilitate the sale.) No third row seats. (They are not real useful and you would probably take them out and store them in your garage or attic anyway.) Cosmetically, the exterior has a few blemishes here and there, consistent with most 17 year old vehicles. There are some spots on the roof and a few scuffs here and there, nothing major. The Autocheck shows one accident in 2005 so it had some paintwork, but not sure exactly where. Vehicle retains all its original body panels and glass. The vehicle runs and drives great, needs nothing that I am aware of, and I am very familiar with 80 series Land Cruisers/LX450s. No smoke, no funny noises. Leaks a little bit of oil underneath, like most 80s, but not bad. Comes with books and manuals, full tool kit and jack, Lexus key and remote. Fresh oil and filter change with Shell Rotella 15w-40 and Toyota filter. This is a really solid truck that I have been driving often for the last couple of months. You may notice that this truck did NOT have the roof rack which is common on these. These racks were installed at the port or dealer, not the factory and are known to cause rust and leaking issues due to the holes drilled in the roof. This is a sought after feature among Land Cruiser enthusiasts. This is a rare vehicle in that it is the last year of the 80 Series Land Cruiser/LX450 with lockers, no roof rack, white in color, relatively low miles (under 175k) and 90% rust free. I am a dealer specializing in Land Cruisers and other unique automobiles, check my feedback and my website (MOTORADELLC) South Carolina residents pay tax, tag, and title. No Doc fees! Thanks! |

Lexus still weighing convertible prospects [w/poll]
Wed, Dec 10 2014Lexus dealers may be clamoring more for a three-row crossover than a two-door convertible, but as far as the automaker itself is concerned, the prospect of a droptop is not out of the question. In fact, according to the latest report from Automotive News, Lexus is currently considering two alternative proposals for adding a new convertible to its lineup. One would be based on the LF-C2 concept showcased at the LA Auto Show last month and take the form of an RC convertible, essentially taking the place of the outgoing IS Convertible at a relatively accessible market position. The other would essentially be a roadster version of the LF-LC sports car and take a much higher position in the company's lineup. Lexus is reportedly evaluating whether it can justify having both convertibles in its lineup – something it hasn't done since the IS and SC convertibles briefly overlapped in 2009-10. But considering the downwards slide in sales of IS Convertibles, it would be hard to make the business case for two new ones. So if sales of the IS Convertible have been so low, why make a new droptop altogether, you ask? A fair question, and the answer very well might come down to projecting a more youthful image and attracting younger buyers into Lexus showrooms – even if they don't ultimately buy a convertible at all. Lexus is well aware that its core customer base is aging, and is in no rush to alienate its more mature clientele, but if it's going to succeed in the long run, it's going to have to bring in younger customers. Have an opinion one way or the other? Voice it in the informal poll below.
Lexus' new V-LCRO advances seat tech by going back in time
Fri, Apr 1 2016Automakers love teaming up with aftermarket suppliers. Stuff like Foxx Racing shocks, BBS wheels, and Brembo brakes are all there to gussy up performance vehicles. But one of the best branded performance options you can get are a meaty set of seats. Not only do they look great, but the two purposes they serve are legitimate – hearty bolsters keep you pinned in place around high-G turns and they allow you to soak up a lot more of the chassis' sensations. Lexus already had a solid set of (unbranded) thrones in the RC F and GS F, but a piece of old tech is about to make them even better. The company is introducing a new Variable Load Coupling Rear Orientation for its seats. Fancy name aside, this is far from a new technology. It's been around for 75 years, and you probably know it as Velcro Technology. Yes, Lexus is going to start selling Velcro lined seats to keep you in place at up to three Gs, whether they be fore, aft, or lateral forces. "The RC F and GS F are exhilarating, racing-inspired vehicles," said Brian Bolain, Lexus' GM for product and consumer marketing. "By partnering with Velcro Companies, our new V-LCRO technology enhances the driver's ability to maximize the cars' track-proven performance." If you're worried this is just a bunch of marketing jargon, though, take it from an actual driver. The V-LCRO system works. "The beauty of this technology is its simplicity," Lexus F Performance Racing driver Scott Pruett said. "With V-LCRO, Lexus has created an unprecedented connection between driver and vehicle, and the impact on the track has been phenomenal." According to Lexus spokesman Moe Lester, V-LCRO will be available on 2020 models, alongside the upcoming hoverboard package. In other news, tomorrow is April Fools' Day. Be prepared. Lexus Introduces Groundbreaking V-LCRO Technology Automaker reveals new interior option for RC F and GS F performance vehicles TORRANCE, Calif. (March 31, 2016)—When it comes to performance cars, few things are more important than the connection between driver and vehicle. For luxury automaker Lexus, the continuous pursuit to enhance this connection even includes venturing outside the automotive world for new solutions.
Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014
Thu, 27 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
