Up for sale is it nice 2000 Lexus LX 470. It has under 100K miles and runs perfect!  NO RESERVE!

My history with this car:

I purchased this vehicle several years ago to replace my wife's 2000 LandCruiser (same vehicle) that we bought new in '00, and she drove it 150,000 miles. The build quality was so excellent on our LandCruiser we decided to replace it with the same vehicle but with lower miles and reset the clock if you will.  I acquired this SUV off eBay with 55,000 miles from an individual  in Ohio. I immediately upgraded the stock wheels to a new set of '08 18 inch Toyota takeoffs. The tires were just replaced 2 months ago and are practically brand new. 2 weeks ago had new brake rotors installed. There was nothing wrong with the old rotors, I had purchased them years ago for our LandCruiser when it developed what I thought were warped rotors. It turned out they were able to turn the old ones, and we sold the LandCruiser before I put them on. I had them installed on the Lexus a couple weeks ago. This vehicle has never had a tow hitch on it, so it's had a pretty easy life. Surfing on eBay one day last year, I found another very low mileage '04 Lexus, so we sold this car to my daughter and her husband and bought it. This was such a great car I had no qualms "keeping it in the family". They have had it for about a year and do a lot of highway driving. The cost of fuel has forced them to consider a more efficient vehicle, so I'm assisting them with the sale. I have driven the SUV for the past week and it still runs and drives and good as it ever has. Like our Landcruiser before, this vehicle has no rattles or squeaks when it drives and steers straight down the road. Has always run synthetic oil in motor.

Being a 13 year old vehicle it is not showroom perfect, but as you can see in the pics it has a super straight body with bright factory paint and only normal wear and tear visible. The windshield in the SUV was broken by a gravel truck a year ago, and the glass is scheduled to be replaced before auction end, so expect a new perfect windshield!

The Good: Super low miles for it's age, new tires, brake pads, Rotors, and windshield. Runs great and has a premium ride.

The Not so Good: Rust patch is developing on the rear liftgate. The previous seller did not disclose this me and I was not happy. It is starting to create a visible bubble, and the situation - while visibly annoying, has not affected structural integrity of the liftgate to the point it has to be dealt with, but I want to be honest in advance that it's there. I suspect that coming from the east coast the weather didn't do it any favors. In Nebraska our vehicles don't suffer that fate at the same rate.  The stereo currently has a CD stuck in it and wont eject it, but radio works fine, CD not. The antenna got broke off in a car wash and it will need a new mast. The left rear wheel has had pitting on the finish and needs to be refinished to look as sharp as the other 3.

Other than these small flaws this is a super fine auto in great condition! I would not hesitate to get in it and drive it anywhere in the country. It has a removable weather tech liner installed in the rear cargo area. I have the rear leather seats, they were just taken out because the kids didn't have a need for them, but they are included. Please email with questions. Car is located in Grand Island, NE where Allegiant Air serves us via Las Vegas, and Phoenix. American Eagle flies in  out of Dallas. J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.

Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla breaks dyno on video, Lexus trademarks 'LS 500h'

Fri, May 29 2015

A video shows a Tesla Model S P85D breaking a dyno during a test. Starting at a slow roll, the instant torque under full power snapped a belt on the dynamometer. Before it broke, the dyno measured over 700 pound-feet of torque from the all-wheel-drive Tesla. A previous dyno run saw the car reach its 155-mph top speed and a peak 435 horsepower. See the video above, and read more at DragTimes. Lexus has filed a trademark for "LS 500h" in Europe. This calls for some speculation as to what this means for an upcoming model. It could be that Lexus plans to release the LS with a new powertrain, perhaps a 4.0-liter engine with a hybrid system. Maybe it will use the 3.5-liter V-6 with a more powerful hybrid system. The LS 600h could simply be getting a new name. Or, we might not see the LS 500h badge used at all in the near future. Note that Lexus trademarked LC 500 and LC 500h in Canada last year, and we've seen no such cars yet. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Ethanol producers have strong words in response to the American Petroleum Institute's claims for demand for ethanol-free gasoline. The API and National Marine Manufacturers Association have urged the EPA to consider marine and small engine demand for E0 gasoline when setting Renewable Fuel Standard volume requirements. Big Oil is using a "false narrative to discourage the use of a cleaner, less expensive, homegrown renewable fuel," according to Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis. Buis says ethanol doesn't cause problems in marine and small engines, a statement backed by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute. "What probably does concern boaters is the amount of time they spend dry docked as a result of oil spills, like the one that dumped 21,000 gallons of oil along four miles of coastline in Santa Barbara, California," says Buis. Drifting on a frozen lake with a studded Lexus looks like fun

Fri, 15 Feb 2013

Sometimes you come across a list of ingredients and you don't even need to know what's being made, you just know you need to be there when it's done. So if you saw a recipe for a Vimeo video that was one snow-covered frozen lake, one Lexus IS, four studded tires, two ice fisherman and one guy lounging on a couch, do you think you'd have any questions?
We didn't. The dish was cooked up by the Wide Open Drift Team and KSP Productions, and it's exactly what you'd think it is. Right down to the guy on the couch. We're glad we got to partake, and you can too in the video below.
