I am reluctantly listing our mint 1996 Lexus LX450 with 128,724 miles. I searched high and low for the best example that I could find -and believe me, I looked at many before finding this one. I am the 2nd owner and purchased this vehicle from it's original owner (via Global Imports) in October 2009. It has spent it's life in the South, either Houston or Richmond and has not seen the snow. At that time, it had 108,945 miles. Since then, it has been driven only on family vacations and occasionally on weekends. We have averaged a little over 5k miles per year since we purchased it. It has spent it's entire existence garaged and it shows. The Pearl White paint is still glossy as is the black accent trim. It is free of scratches and dings and has had no accidents. The full set of factory spec Michelins were installed in 2011 with a mileage of 117,228. They look new and have a 60k mile warranty. The battery was replaced last year. I also replaced the original stereo head unit with a MUCH improved Kenwood Pandora/MP3 unit that has an ipod/iphone cable. Front door speakers were also replaced with much more powerful coaxial units. I have an extra set of front and rear factory mats as well as original manual, tool kit, first aid kit, jack and key with remote entry fob. There have been no issues with this car. It has had Mobil One synthetic oil as was used by the original owner. All service performed by either Lexus or Toyota service department. This truck does not have the factory locking differential.

Forget LCD displays, the Lexus UX concept has hologram orbs
Thu, Sep 22 2016Two weeks ago, Lexus revealed the UX concept for the Paris Motor Show. The company only showed one photo of the exterior, but did give a generic description of the interior, saying it would have "imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience." Now we know what that means: holograms! Yes, Lexus has done about the only thing that can impress in this world of high-resolution automotive displays – it brought instruments and infotainment into the third dimension. In the process it has somewhat reimagined the way occupants interact with the car as well. We're guessing the name UX, which stands for user experience in the tech world, was intentional. The large crystal-shaped box in the center console stands out immediately. The company says the box will display climate control and infotainment options in full 3D for the driver and passenger. The instrument cluster gets the hologram treatment as well with an orb floating in the middle and the ability to display both analog and digital information. No word on whether a small, blue Princess Leia will appear in the console asking for help. The UX's interior has a few other nifty surprises. The windows are electrochromic, so they can be darkened as needed (similar tech is already in use on some car roofs). The passenger side of the dashboard has a large, finned sound bar that can be removed. We're not entirely sure the thinking behind that feature, but we suppose it would be nice as a stereo for a picnic or a day at the beach. To cap things off, Lexus included the concept car staples of touch-sensitive buttons and side-view mirror cameras. As for when you'll see hologram displays in future Lexus models, we have no idea but wouldn't count on them coming anytime soon. We have a more optimistic view of the Lexus UX concept itself. With crossovers as popular as ever, we expect to see an attractive production model with these bulging fenders and a steeply raked windshield in a year or so. This is what a Lexus RC-based 'four-door coupe' might look like
Mon, 02 Jun 2014It feels like there is a secret law in Germany mandating that every domestic automaker there must offer at least one model with a four-door coupe bodystyle like the BMW Gran Coupes, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Audi A7. Several of the German brands even have the swoopy sedans in multiple sizes. So far, Lexus has stayed out of that fray, but maybe not for long, if a recently spotted test car makes it to market.
The brand is known to be testing a highly styled four-door coupe, roughly the size of the GS, under heavy camouflage. Little is known about the new model at the moment, but its existence makes sense. If it really wants to take the on Germans, Lexus is going to have to fight them toe-to-toe with competing models - especially with ones understood to have high margins.
Pictured above is a rendering from artist Theophilus Chin imagining a slightly smaller take on the genre based on the RC coupe, which he calls the RC GT. His design leaves the original shape almost untouched, but shortens the front doors to allow room for a rear doors under the arching roof. His GT would be aimed more against the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and rumored Mercedes-Benz C-Class four-door coupe, rather than the larger models Lexus actually appears to be targeting with its vehicle under development. His concept certainly nails the look, though, and while it might not have a basis in reality, we thought that it's well-resolved enough that you'd want to take a look, if only as a "what could've been" flight of fancy.
