I am selling my 96 FZJ80 Lexus LX 450/Toyota Land Cruiser

NO RESERVE AUCTION!  High bid wins-------------

Only 151k CarFax certified miles. California car since new. NO rust.

Yes, it has the DIFF LOCK option!

I bought this LX earlier this year after a long search for a clean, well kept, well maintained 80 series with Diff Locks.  I finally found this one pretty close to home just north of Santa Barbara. I am the 5th owner and the title is in name. Was going to keep this one long term but things change.  It's ready for a new home.  I have sold some very nice Land Cruisers and Toyota's here on eBay with 100% satisfaction. So bid with confidence.

It's the champaign color scheme from Lexus with pretty much all the options available in 1996.  Running boards, roof rack (I removed the Lexus rack and added Yakima load bars, still have orig rack), tow package, 3rd row seats, Diff Lock, auto climate control, etc.

It also has the CDL switch (center diff lock) added.  It's been very well maintained with extensive Lexus Dealership records and others.  Major items to note included: pesky heater hose replaced, valve cover gasket replaced, front axle rebuild, new distributor cap, spark plugs, plug wires and tube seals.  Newer brakes with slotted rotors on all four wheels. Recent service of the AC (blows cold).  Just serviced with oil change, filter and full lube.

Within the last 2k miles I purchased an Old Man Emu 2.5" medium lift from Spector Off-Road and had it installed at my shop in Santa Barbara. Includes castor correction kit and Emu steering stabilizer.  Then I had an alignment done and installed new BFG All-Terrain TA 282/75r16 on the  stock Lexus alloys. New center caps (Toyota Logo) installed as well.  It rides incredible with this set up and looks great. All in it was well over $3,000 for these upgrades.

The interior is almost in perfect condition. The power seats work perfectly. All electronics such as the power windows, locks, HVAC, etc work just as they should. The power button, 2nd gear start and overdrive buttons work perfect. The front, rear and center diff locks all work and engage as they should.  The radio, CD player work and sound great. Though the power antenna motor doesn't work and I replaced the aerial with a carbon stub. Looks pretty good The leather is near perfect and original. The only things to note would be a small "cut" or separation of the leather on the drivers seat right side back bolster and a little wear on the top of the steering wheel(I use a nice cover, you'll see in photos) and gear shift lever. Otherwise the interior is close to a 9 out of 10. Non smoking owners and smells like a Lexus.

The paint is all original and overall in really great shape. Things to note include some clear coat fade on the top center of the hood and right rear fender flare (pretty minor). The left rear fender flare has a little worse fade, please see in detailed photos. Doesn't really bother me as I like the original paint aspect.  All original VIN stickers present.  No accident, paint or bodywork history.

So overall much less dings and fade than an average Land Cruiser/LX450 of this vintage. I've owned quite a few and this one is on the nicer side by far.

It runs, drives, shifts, brakes, etc just as it should. Throws no codes and is a pleasure to drive. It's turn key and needs nothing.  This is most likely one of the nicer Land Cruiser/LX 450's on the market.

Current California tag until February 2015.  Two Lexus keys, owners manual, Lexus OEM floor mats (fronts, center & rear) and few other extra parts included. Have the original Lexus coil springs if you want them.  On, the "D" light and the "overdrive" light are bulbs are burned out.

As is where is sale. I offer no warranties expressed, written or implied. The Lexus has a clear title in my name. It's located in Santa Barbara, CA at my home. I'll happily pick you up at the Santa Barbara airport or train station and can assist with your transporter.

Pre buy inspections are welcomed and encouraged BEFORE the auction ends.

Please message me through eBay or for faster response call me at 805-415-2848 with any questions. My name is Patrick.

Bidders with zero (0) or negative feedback please contact me prior to bidding or your bid could be canceled.

$500 deposit due immediately at close of auction via PayPal.  Balance due within 5 days via Wire Transfer, Bank Transfer or Cash.  Vehicle to be picked up in a timely manner hopefully within a week or so.

2018 Lexus LS First Drive | Luxury, performance and the puzzling parts

Wed, Sep 27 2017

When one imagines the enormous executive sedan that might be driven by a wealthy lawyer or banker (or their chauffeur), the mind naturally goes to the Mercedes S-Class or the BMW 7-Series. Venerable, enormous and expensive. But for those wanting to keep their driveway a little more understated, we also have the Lexus LS. Sure, it's not as ostentatious as the big saloons from Munich and Stuttgart, but it has a dignified elegance all its own. For nearly three decades, the LS has been a discrete and dependable Japanese luxury sedan. The new 2018 LS, perhaps thankfully, is a bit less discrete. We saw the new-look LS when it was introduced earlier this year in Detroit. Now we know how it drives. We put the 2018 LS through its paces on the traffic-clogged streets of San Francisco and over the Golden Gate Bridge to the twisty B-roads around Marin County and the legendary Skywalker Ranch, where we stopped for lunch. Unfortunately, all in attendance were sworn to secrecy about the details of Skywalker Ranch, but we're free to tell you all about the LS. Here's our one-sentence summary, which can be used to describe many cars to bear the Lexus badge: It's excellent in many respects, odd in a few, and incredibly, massively frustrating in one very important area. Lexus has a brand new 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, a first for a premium passenger car. It produces 416 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, up from 386 hp and 367 lb-ft from the outgoing naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8. Lexus engineers are extremely proud of the fuel efficiency of the new engine, which required some clever technical innovations (a longer bore stroke and increased valve angle) as well as tech borrowed from Formula One, including a "laser clad valve seat" that allows for a more direct flow of air into the combustion chamber and a high "tumble ratio." In other words, Lexus figured out how to get more bang out of each gasoline-powered buck. Fuel economy numbers are 19 city, 29 highway, and 23 combined for the RWD version and 18/27/21 for AWD, with the highway numbers particularly helped along by the 10-speed gearbox. It's a torque converter unit, but Lexus promises shift times that rival its dual-clutch-wielding competitors. The LS is no slouch, either. In RWD trim, the nearly 5,000-pound car hustles from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds, according to Lexus' reckoning.

What does a million-mile car really tell us?

Fri, Sep 18 2015

A million miles. Nearly every car brand and motor oil company plays the million-mile marketing racket at some point. The typical recipe is to take a car that experienced a ton of low-stress highway miles, and make it a rolling testament to the long-term qualities of whatever reputation you're trying to prop up. Saab, Lincoln, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chrysler. It's a tired game that I would normally just consider one of the pointless ranking exercises of our time. But the truth is, when it comes to a car's longevity, it's almost always the owner that makes the real difference, not the brand. Like a pitcher at a baseball game, the owner mostly determines the victories and the defeats for his car. Some specific models are the basement dwellers of our time – I'm looking at you, Chrysler car with the 2.7-liter engine! But a lot of cars and trucks hit right around the average that is a powertrain whose longevity is mainly determined by that person who turns the key and hopefully learns that patient art of long-term ownership. The best owners are the ones who deserve the attention. So with that in mind, let me introduce you to Matt Farah's Million Mile Lexus. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. This Lexus could be written off as another cynical marketing exercise in this business, performed by those who didn't do the real driving in the past and have no plans at all on doing the bulk of the driving in the future. Matt's actually doing a few things that are genuinely cool, though. Letting other auto journalists and enthusiasts drive it along the way and giving Regular Car Reviews a crack at it. Focusing on the rare virtues of the first-generation Lexus, which, to be frank, can out-diesel a diesel. There is a great story to be had with this car. This isn't a car that was "going to the junkyard" and magically given the kiss of life. That story is far more vast than a guy who bought a high-mileage car in great overall condition. This isn't a car that was "going to the junkyard" and magically given the kiss of life so that it can endure the ages. This Lexus, like all other high-mileage models worthy of our love, has been given one hell of a good maintenance regimen by the prior owners. It was taken care of and primarily maintained at the dealership, where it probably received the best parts and service, thanks in enormous part to owners who were willing to pay that exorbitantly high bill.

Toyota reveals latest autonomous tech test bed

Fri, Mar 3 2017

Toyota revealed its latest autonomous technology effort Friday, a sophisticated Lexus LS 600hL prototype that showcases its plans to advance in the emerging field. The Lexus is the first developed entirely by the company's in-house Toyota Research Institute and it will focus on the car's ability to learn and see behavior on the road. Toyota is showing the car at the Prius Challenge event at Sonoma Raceway. The Lexus uses Lidar, radar, and sensors, which potentially reduce reliance on mapping. The prototype advances Toyota's last concept vehicle shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2013. This one is said to be more flexible and it will focus on Toyota's two autonomous tech pillars, called Guardian and Chauffeur. Guardian is meant to improve safety features, while Chauffeur moves toward full autonomy. "We believe Guardian can probably be deployed sooner and more widely than Chauffeur, providing high-level driver-assist features capable of helping mitigate collisions and save lives, sooner rather than later," Toyota Research Institute Gill Pratt said in a statement.
