1st Generation 1994 Lexus LS 400. Original white pearlescent exterior paint. Overall good running condition and smooth riding car. Alignment and tire balance are excellent. Recently had the alternator replaced in March of this year and fuel system cleaned. The rack and pinion was replaced about 3 years ago. I will include all paper work of service done while I have owned the vehicle. The service tech at AAA explained that the vehicle will be in need of a tune up sometime in the future. I usually clean the K&N air filter twice a year. Vehicle has good brakes and rotors. The battery is new as of 2011. Overall the engine runs strong still with no knocking and has great pick up for its age. Since I have owned the vehicle in 2008 I only run 93 gas in it from Shell. Transmission shifts very smooth while accelerating and has either normal or power mode, vehicle has great pick up speed as it is a V8. The inside of the vehicle has some cracks on the front leather seats from heat and age and it has been smoked in. Otherwise the back leather seats and floors are very clean. The dashboard cluster has the classic Lexus problem of not turning on and flashing especially when its cold outside. Lately if I take the vehicle for a drive over 20 minutes it eventually turns on, but until then it is dark and hard to read. This is a problem with the capacitors on the cluster unit. This can be repaired although the cluster has to be removed from the car and have the capacitors changed on the board, I have complete instructions on how to do this. If you have the know how on this type of repair it is only a few dollars to repair, otherwise I know that you can find the repair service here on ebay. The gas gauge does not give a reading for sometime after the car has been on this is also caused by a bad capacitor on the cluster unit which can be repaired with the same service as the lights. The odometer still keeps accurate mileage even though it cannot be read until the cluster turns on. The A/C and heater both work great although the LCD displays for the time and temp setting have both blacked out so they cannot be read( which is another common problem for this year Lexus). Stereo works great and has a six disc CD changer in the trunk, the antenna works well and raises and lowers as it should. All power windows and moonroof open well with no issues. Otherwise the only other interior issue is the headliner towards the back window on the driver side needs a couple new clips as the original clips have come off at some point so it hangs down a little. The exterior paint is overall pretty good condition with only a couple spots of sun damage on the roof with some pitting in the paint in front of the moon roof and a couple small spots about the size of a pin head on the hood where light rust has started from road chips. Body has no dents. The front bumper was repainted in 2009 as the paint was wearing off the top part in front of the grill and was yellowing (like the gray lower area along the back where it meets the chrome middle divider). The company that painted it tried to match it up as best they could although where it was repainted is a slight color off from the rest of the car, as the paint on the rest of the vehicle has faded over the years from the sun and is pretty much impossible to get an exact match on. Vehicle has had dent repair done on the hood and roof from hail in 2011 through a Geico certified body shop (Wilburn Repair Charlotte). Dual exhaust system is in great condition with no issues. Wipers work great. Right front headlight glass has a very small hole in it about the size of a bb, all lights work as they should (headlights, taillights etc..) Tires have a lot of tread left with some cracking on all four. Rims are after market and are very clean with no scratches which I purchased from Discount Tire. Spare tire is the original Lexus rim that came with car. Trunk is very clean and has tool kit and first aid kit along with full size spare.Comes with original key fob and two extras. Overall has been a great vehicle for me, I just got a SUV so vehicle has just been sitting. Feel free to ask any questions. Phone # available upon request. Clean title in hand. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping. Serious buyers only please, any non pay will be reported to ebay resolution center.

2018 Lexus GX 460 Drivers' Notes Review | When dinosaurs roamed the earth
Wed, Apr 11 2018The 2018 Lexus GX 460 has been on sale since late 2009. There have been a few minor updates, but a 2018 model is essentially the same as one from 2010. It's based on the global Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and shares more than a little with the Toyota 4Runner. It slots between the Lexus RX and the big daddy Lexus LX. Despite its age, it's still a seller. Sales were up in 2017. In fact, the GX had its best year in the U.S. since 2005. Blame cheap gas all you want. Really, people just want SUVs. We have a base-spec model. The only option is navigation. There's no heated seats or upgraded audio or safety features like blind-spot monitoring or active cruise control. It's basic and honest, but it also highlights just how out of date the GX really is. Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore: The GX 460 is a body-on-frame, V8-powered, three-row grunt. It's comfortable and functional, but in a segment with more than a few options, this one struggles to stand out. The styling is polarizing yet somehow also vanilla. The spindle grille looks awkward and out of place — a dissonant interpretation of Lexus' latest design language — while the lightly flared fenders say almost nothing. The 4.6-liter V8 only puts out 301 horsepower but still slurps gas to the tune of 15 miles per gallon in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. Power delivery is fine via the six-speed automatic transmission, but the GX 460 feels sluggish from launches. The interior is nice enough with pleasing materials and an intuitive layout. Visibility is solid, you're certainly high enough up, so the command driving position is confidence-inducing. Not a fan of the eight-inch multimedia screen, which feels small and isn't the most informative system I've ever used. Overall, I'd give the GX 460 a C+ compared to other vehicles in this segment. Decent, but dated and lacking some compelling elements. That being said, if you're a Lexus loyalist and want a beastly three-row SUV, you will like this one. If you're more brand agnostic, there are better options out there. Associate Editor Reese Counts: Let's get one thing out of the way — the Lexus GX is old. Yes, it's been on sale essentially unchanged since late 2009, but that's not all there is to it. This is a traditional, body-on-frame SUV with a torquey V8 and a real four-wheel drive system. It's one of the last of its breed. Customers have shifted away from these behemoths, settling on more comfortable and more efficient car-based crossovers.
2013 Lexus ES earns five stars from NHTSA
Wed, 05 Dec 2012The 2013 Lexus ES has earned a five-star crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2013 ES 350 and ES 300h hybrid earned the highest ratings in each of the government's crash evaluations, including overall driver safety, frontal crashes and overall side impacts, save one. The sedan only achieved a four-star rating in the NHTSA rollover protection test, but that fault wasn't enough to keep the vehicle from earning a five-star designation overall.
The announcement doesn't mention the recent Consumer Reports claim that the ES comes with a faulty emergency trunk release that can be easily broken in a panic situation.
As you may recall, the 2013 ES 350 carries an MSRP of $36,100, plus an $895 destination fee and offers buyers a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 good for 248 pound-feet of torque, as well. The ES 300h, meanwhile, stickers at $38,850 plus the same destination charge.
8 things you should know about the Lexus LC 500h powertrain
Thu, Feb 18 2016Lexus unveiled the LC 500h today in The Netherlands, and I got to take a look inside its new hybrid system. On one hand it seems like a box of magic – it combines two seemingly incompatible transmission types into one package. But that's also the ingenious simplicity of the thing. We don't have all of the details on how it all works yet, but here's a rundown of the high points.Efficient business in front, low-key party in the back. What makes it all work is the mullet of transmissions. For the new hybrid transmission, Lexus used the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive/Lexus Hybrid System – which consists of an e-CVT with a planetary gearset and two electric motors (one for charging the battery, the other for motivation and regen) – and grafted a conventional four-speed automatic onto the back. The two units actually coexist in one package, with the e-CVT making things efficient and the automatic expanding the capabilities. So at the low end, the system can deliver more torque, and the engine can also run at lower rpm on the highway. It's all thanks to those fixed gear ratios, and it's surprisingly simple.Except it's not that simple. This is where the virtual gear ratios come in. Like current Lexus hybrids, the system has ratios it can call up with the e-CVT. In this case, there are six virtual ratios to complement the four real physical ratios, for a total of 10 "gears" at the transmission's disposal. (Not coincidentally, the V8 LC 500 coupe has a 10-speed automatic.) One of the four fixed gears is always engaged when the car is moving, so the 10 ratios come about from combinations of what the e-CVT in front and the automatic in the back are doing. In other words, all 10 ratios are variations on the four fixed gear ratios, which means that all 10 gears could be considered virtual. It won't use all the gears all the time. In Eco mode, the car will start off on electric power and skip the first couple of "gears." When it's set to Sport or Sport +, the engine will be engaged from a stop and the transmission will select the lowest ratio. The sportier modes will also ignore the top couple of gear ratios. It can drive faster with the engine off. In a Lexus GS 450h with the Lexus Hybrid System, for example, at speeds above 62 mph or so the engine has to start up. This is because something needs to take up some slack from the battery-charging motor-generator or else it will start spinning too quickly.
