2002 Lexus Is 300, Black, Low Miles, New Timing Belt And Water Pump on 2040-cars
Bentonville, Arkansas, United States
2002 Lexus IS 300 Sedan I've owned the car since late 2007. Low miles for a 2002. It's been a great car mechanically. Very smooth and quiet. Title is clear - no issues! The only reason I'm selling is because I just purchased a Lexus IS 350. The front brake pads were replaced, rotors were turned, and CV Axle was replaced at 87k miles ($410). The timing belt and water pump were replaced last year ($800). I replaced the rear tires at 98k miles ($443) and the front tires at 91k miles ($326). I also recently had it detailed inside and out so it looks very sharp! The oil was changed recently and I always had the oil changed when recommended. I had the whole car painted around 3-4 years ago and I had the hood re-painted around 2 years ago. As far as any negatives, just recently the AC compressor went out so the AC isn't currently working. The "Check Engine" light has been for several years but safe to drive. I had the Toyota dealership (no Lexus dealership locally) look at it and it's caused by a a fuel code sensor for something called a "charcoal canister." I was told it was safe to drive and I've never had a problem with the car in how it drives. I did have the trunk replaced in 2010 after a car ran into the back of another car which then hit my car. It was professionally replaced and painted by a body shop locally - you can't even tell it was in an accident. For being 12 years old, it has typical scratches and door dings but nothing major. I've done my best to describe the car but if you have any specific questions or want to see pictures of anything specific, please let me know! All 325+ of my feedback is positive - every single transaction! Car is for sale locally so auction will end early if it sells. Features include:

Lexus LC 500 dominates 2016 EyesOn Design Awards
Wed, Jan 13 2016The Lexus LC 500 captured top honors for the best-designed production car and the best interior at the 10th annual EyesOn Design awards at the Detroit Auto Show. The awards are handed out by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. The Buick Avista won the concept car category, just as its four-door predecessor, the Avenir, did last year. Other winners this year included the Chrysler Pacifica, which won for the best-designed production "truck" (as crossovers and minivans are sometimes categorized), and the Audi H-Tron Quattro, which won for the best concept truck. The Acura Precision concept was also recognized for its "innovative use of color, graphics, and materials." And the new Volvo S90 was singled out for its human-machine interface. The panel of jurists this year included designers from an array of automakers and art schools. Several past honorees for the organization's LifeTime Design Achievement Award participated in the voting, including GM's Wayne Cherry, BMW DesignworksUSA founder Chuck Pelly, Hyundai's Peter Schreyer, and Jack Telnack (formerly of Ford). Telnack also served on the select panel of chief judges this year, alongside Chris Chapman from Hyundai, Dave Marek from Acura, and Stewart Reed from the Art Center College of Design. Lexus LX to get diesel engine?
Tue, 08 Jul 2014Australian consumers appear poised to get another diesel-burning luxury SUV in the near future, and word is it's coming from Lexus, of all automakers. Sean Hanley, chief executive of the company's branch in Oz, recently told Aussie website Drive that he's "pretty confident" that the new engine for the LX is getting the green light.
Like in the US, the LX in Australia is currently only offered with a 5.7-liter, gasoline-burning V8. However, sales of the big SUV are presently minuscule Down Under, with Drive reporting just 153 LX570s sold in all of Oz last year. Hanley is negotiating with Japan to get the new diesel in hopes of boosting flagging sales. If his efforts are successful, it would be the first diesel engine offered in a Lexus there. Hanley didn't specify exactly which mill the SUV would get. However, given the LX's close relationship with Toyota Land Cruiser, the diesel 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 already available in the Toyota in markets outside of North America seems like a natural choice.
Don't expect the variant to be hopping across the Pacific, though. Lexus spokesperson Allison Takahashi tells Autoblog she has heard "nothing" about an oil-burning LX coming to the US. That's not a huge surprise, though, because neither Toyota nor Lexus offer any diesels in their lineups today. Also, Lexus has only sold 1,981 LX570s through June, which only placed it ahead of the LFA supercar in the brand's sales. It's probably just not worth certifying the engine for such a low-volume model.
Online Find of the Day: Lexus-engined Mercedes pickup is a vintage hybrid
Tue, 16 Sep 2014You have to love someone who gets incredibly committed to a very weird idea. What you see for sale here is a right-hand drive 1971 Mercedes-Benz 220D in South Africa, but this old Mercedes is now converted into a pickup, complete with bed cover, and there's big secret under the hood, too.
The pickup conversion appears well done based on seller Sedgefield Classic Cars' photos. Even the tonneau cover fits well. You could almost believe that this Mercedes lived its life as a Chevrolet El Camino-like pickup from the very beginning.
However, the rear-quarters conversion might not be the weirdest thing about this Mercedes. The original diesel is gone from the engine bay in favor of a Lexus V8. It seems really odd to pop the hood and find a Japanese mill in this German car, but the photos make it look like a fairly well performed swap. So, bravo to the crazy thinking. According to the seller speaking to Autoblog by email, "as far as we can establish, this was done a few years ago, with all Lexus components."
