Thank you for viewing our 1999 Lexus ES 300 car. We are the second owner of this vehicle and purchased it certified from the Bredemann Lexus Dealership in Glenview, Illinois.
The car has been maintained mainly at dealerships, and all the parts purchased for this vehicle, even the battery, have been original manufacturer OEM parts.
In the past year, I have spent over $2000.00 in maintenance. The list is too long, but the major items that have been replaced are the following:
(1) Timing & Other Belts
(2) Radiator Pump
(3) Flush of Transmission & other fluids
(4) Complete Tuning
(5) Front and rear Brake Pads & Rotors were replaced at the dealership. Pads include life-time warranty from the Dealership
In June 2013, both O2 (Oxygen) sensors were replaced with OEM parts.
A few months ago, I got code P1349, so the local shop cleaned the oil control valves. 700 miles later, the code has been intermittently coming back and going away. The car, however, runs fine even with the code. I think the oil control valve needs to be replaced. The original OEM part costs $52 on Ebay (click on the link below or search item #251349822012 ) and can be replaced by a mechanic for $50.

Lexus changed the ES300 body and introduced the new VVT-I engine in 1999 and carried it through to the 2001 model. This update made the car faster with better gas mileage.
This car is sold AS IS with no warranty.
Please feel free to contact me via email with any inquiries. The car is located in Naperville, and I am open to viewing or test driving the car. I would even recommend bringing a mechanic. You will not be disappointed.

Toyota, Lexus expanding Takata airbag recall, re-notifying customers
Mon, 20 Oct 2014Toyota is re-notifying owners and expanding its Takata airbag inflator recall for some regions. The renewed campaign covers 247,000 examples of the Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia, Tundra and Lexus SC430 that are located in southern Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa. All of the models come from the 2001-2004 model years and have potentially faulty Takata-made inflators on the front passenger side. According to the company, testing shows the problem warrants "immediate action," and its press release says, "this action intensifies Toyota's efforts to reach customers and remedy previously recalled vehicles, and a small number of newly included vehicles."
According to Toyota, it submitted some recalled inflators to Takata for testing, and it found a high probability of rupturing in high humidity areas. The automaker said it had no reports yet of injuries or fatalities related to the problem.
This is Toyota's third inflator recall this year. In June, it called in for repair the same vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years in high-humidity areas, and it conducted a separate campaign nationwide for the parts in additional models. In April 2013, it also announced a fix campaign for 1.73-million vehicles worldwide for the same issue.
Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene
Mon, 10 Mar 2014We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene.
