First and only year of the rare 1997 Range Rover 4.6 Vitesse limited edition with 129k miles. Only about 250 models were made in AA Yellow and Monza red. There was only 125 made in AA yellow.  This is a very well maintained example that has been pampered and owned in California. No rust or corrosion.  She even still has her working factory air suspension.

People notice this rare Range Rover immediately because of the bright AA yellow paint. Its one of the most recognizable special edition Range Rovers made. Sure to be a collectible.

The car is all stock and original and even has the full factory off road accessories installed. The front brush guard is excellent condition with no dents or tears. Many brush guards have been damaged or bent from parking damage.

Also, just purchased the new light grills from Atlantic British to compliment the brush guard.  The running boards are original P38 Range Rover running boards. The rear tail light guards are also factory Land Rover. Comes with original rubber Range Rover mats.

The factory 18 wheels are my favorite. I love the classic design and 18 wheels were the best wheel available at the time.  In addition the exhaust was just replaced with a Magna Flow exhaust and Magna Flow chrome tip. The sound is amazing.

The biggest improvement on this Vitesse is the motor replacement. I did this about 10 months ago thru my independent Land Rover/European car mechanic.  All receipts included with sale. About 5k in work has already been done and car is sorted.

The original motor had a slipped sleeve and compression was low on one of the cylinders. Instead of rebuilding the motor, we found a donor 4.6 engine with only 80k original miles and excellent compression. We immediately began the process of swapping out the motors and doing the necessary work.

The heads gaskets were replaced and hydraulic lifters. Along with this we replaced crankshaft seal, rear main bearing cap, intake/exhaust gaskets, radiator hoses, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, air filters, oil cooler lines All fluids and filters were replaced and motor reinstalled.  Brake system flushed. New battery. New drivers window regulator.  New front brake rotors and pads. New rear brake rotors and pads.  Vacuumed AC system and recharged. AC blows ice cold.

Pirelli Scropion tires are still very good tread.  Also, just replaced the sagging headliner with a top of the line suede headliner in the factory tan color. I also asked the upholstery shop to replace the A, B and C pillars where seat belts are so that the pillars have matching material. The interior is one of my favorites. Many people compliment the car and say the car looks new inside.  The step board plates that say Range Rover in chrome still have the original protective plastic still on top. They were never removed to preserve the name plates.

The black supple leather with yellow piping is all factory original and its in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The Vitesse has one of the coolest Land Rover interiors with the solid black leather and contrast piping.

In case you are not familiar with the Vitesse specifics I have a bit of information below:

"4.6 HSE Vitesse Edition:  The Vitesse Edition models cost $3,000 more than the standard HSE were painted AA Yellow & Monza Red.  Vitesse is French for “Speed”.  The AA Yellow and Monza Red editions (see photos below) were the same except for the colors.  They had all the standard HSE items and ash black leather seats with yellow or red piping .  The side mirrors and lower part of the front bumper were painted body color and they has a “blackout grille” (darker plastic than the grills on other models).  The inside door handles were chrome rather than black (chrome interior door handles were on all 2000-2002 Range Rover HSEs).  The Vitesse came standard with the 300-watt 10 amp Harmon Kardon 12-speaker sound system with “parametric equalization” and “active dual-driver subwoofer”.  A total of 100 to 150 of each color were sold made (Land Rover Special Edition Brochure from 1997 said a total of 250 of the red and yellow “high impact color” Vitesse editions would be produced).   Land Rover sold very few yellow Range Rovers and other than the 1997 Vitesse the only other yellow P38 Range Rovers were a small number of non-Vitesse AA yellow Range Rovers in 1997, the special TReK competition models and the Borego Edition in 2002."

In summary this is one of the best Rovers I have owned. Drive it home with confidence.   It is a pleasure to drive especially when everything is working properly like this one. The motor is sorted and super healthy.  Transmission shifts smooth and crisp. The factory radio and sub works great. AC blows cold. AC displays a "book" error intermittently.

Only one small thing is the paint on the roof is oxidizing.

Clean title in hand. Car is registered in CA and passes smog with no problems.

For some of us that day can't come soon enough, and in honor of Earth Day we've put together a list of our favorite car giveaways so you can save some green while being green.  Win a 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S and $20,000 - Enter Here If there’s one thing Porsche is good at, itÂ’s making fast, beautiful cars, and the Taycan Turbo S is no exception. Making 750 horsepower, 774 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 161 miles per hour, punching the accelerator will surely throw you back in your seat. In fact, its 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds matches that of the quickest Porsche 911 ever made, the Turbo S. The difference between this Taycan Turbo S and that 911 Turbo S, of course, is that the only reason youÂ’ll ever need to stop off at a gas station is to fill up on snacks. That and the fact the Taycan doesn't actually have a turbo anywhere in the car. We wouldnÂ’t be reaching for a bag of FlaminÂ’ Hot Cheetos, though, because this incredibly comfortable leather interior is immaculate, and weÂ’d hope to keep it that way. Enter here for a chance to win this prize worth $220,000. Win a Himalaya Land Rover Defender 110 EV and $20,000 - Enter Here The Land Rover Defender is an icon: an intense, luxurious off-roader that turns heads and can crawl up nearly anything. The problem? For the past 20+ years it hasn't been available in the United States and it's never been what youÂ’d call environmentally friendly. But this Defender is different. ItÂ’s vintage, restored by Himalaya and itÂ’s all-electric. At 275 horsepower, you wonÂ’t be thrown back in your seat, but the 406 lb-ft of torque helps make this an incredibly capable rock crawler.

2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class vs big luxury off-roaders: How they compare on paper

Mon, May 7 2018

During our first drive of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the all-new SUV's product manager was asked to identify competitors that might have been benchmarked in its development. The look on his face was about the same as if someone had asked him to recite King Lear in Klingon. As far as Andreas Hoeppel was concerned, the G 550 and AMG G 63 doesn't actually have a rival, or at least something the engineers and designers thought to compare it against. The G-Class is a G-Class, who cares what the other guys are doing? Well, in case you care, we figured we'd plug the new G-Class' specs into the old Autoblog Comparo Generator 3000 (TM) to see how the G 550 and AMG G 63 compare to the Range Rover and its mightiest SVAutobiography Dynamic model, plus the Lexus LX 570 and Bentley Bentayga V8. Frankly, Heir Hoeppel was onto something as each of these is wildly different. But, they do share some common elements: giant size and weight, ultra-lux interiors, and far more off-roading capability than other luxury SUVs offer and any of its owners are likely to ever utilize. Sad. So enjoy this trip down specification lane, and if you're still left hungry, you can always check out our Range Rover comparison or create your very own comparo. Off-Road Clearances and Capability All the fancy off-roading software and special cameras in the world won't do you a lick of good if your SUV is too close to the ground or has low-hanging body work that'll get easily ripped off. As such, check out each of these uber-SUV's ground clearance, approach and departure angles, and wading/fording depths. In this case, the Range Rover has an advantage due to its air suspension that can raise itself into an Off-Roading height that's a whopping 2 inches higher than the new G-Wagen. Sadly for itself, Lexus only provides figures for its air suspension when in normal height. It could match or surpass the Range Rover for all we know (but doubt it). As Land Rover does provide figures for the Range Rover's approach and departure angles in normal and Off-Road height, you can get an idea of just how much clearance the new G-Wagen has without any fancy (and expensive to fix) raising and lowering air suspension hardware. In fact, its departure angle is better than even the Range Rover's Off-Road height. Bentley doesn't provide any such information despite touting the Bentayga's surprising off-roading talents.

Porsche 911 tops a list of must-have classics, but No. 2 is more of a surprise

Wed, Aug 9 2023

No surprise here: In Europe, the Porsche 911 is the most sought-after classic car. Surprise here: Slip-streaming the 911 in the most sought-after chart compiled by the Car & Classic marketplace is the Ford Mustang. Using the Google search engine as a means to pick the winners, as well as the average prices achieved on the “Car and Classic” website, the venerable 911 was tagged 1.45 million times per month according to data stretching back 15 years. The number of 911Â’s sold though the C&C marketplace was 21,141, at an average price of 58,409 pounds, or $74,300. FordÂ’s pony car, still a popular choice for buyers in Europe, placed second on the list with 1.2 million monthly searches. The average sales price over 15 years was 31,107 pounds ($39,570), and the number of older Mustangs sold reached a total of 8,332. Models that also finished among the charted top 10 include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Corvette, the ultra-classic British favorite Jaguar E-Type and the BMW 3 Series. “Whilst a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS could set you back the best part of GBP500,000 ($636,000), there are many more affordable models, which bring the average sale price of a 911 on Car & Classic to GBP58,000 ($73,800) – the third highest average selling price of any make and model on the site,” explained Dale Vinten of Car & Classic. According to the site, the Jaguar fetched the highest average selling price: a whopping 89,000 pounds, or $113,000. But thatÂ’s peanuts compared to a Series 1 Roadster in excellent condition, said Vinten. For that, “you can expect to spend up to GBP250,000 ($318,000), A Series 2 or 3 will cost less, as they are not as desirable, but in decent condition you can expect to pay around GBP40,000-GBP50,000. Even a barn find 1969 E-Type Series 2 Roadster can set you back to the tune of GBP33,000 ($42,000)." Launched in 2005, Car & Classic is among EuropeÂ’s most popular classic car clearinghouses. It also runs a stand-alone auction site.
