*****************************************RANGE ROVER FLM PANELCRAFT REPLICA LEFT HAND DRIVE***************************************
If you're like me and you LOVE the style, history and legacy of the Range Rover MKI, then you will no doubt appreciate this rare FLM PanelCraft Range Rover which has all of the distinction you could ever ask for in a vehicle-theres nothing like it in the USA-guarteed to turn heads. This remains today the only car to ever be featured in the Louvre in Paris. This Land Rover is an excellent entry into the Collector Car Market and Land Rover Collector Car Market as well. If you attend Land Rover Rallies you will be the only one with a car like this. This exact car has many online followers here in the US and the UK.

What a journey I have had with this car. It has been a real labor of love and I feel it shows in the detailed parts selection, research and care in building it. I truly love this car and it has been an absolute pleasure to own and drive. I have enjoyed the countless people giving me the thumbs up, other Land Rover enthusiasts tracking me down for questions about this Range Rover and those who want to have their picture taken with it, yes there have been a few. As mentioned before, their are followers of this car through Facebook and the Range-Rover-Classic dot com website as a true one of a kind car. So with heavy heart Im offering this one of a kind FLM PanelCraft Range Rover for sale.

This vehicle is an absolute pleasure to drive. I built it that way. I have three children and needed it to be reliable, steady and safe. It is a great daily driver and has a completely rebuilt, reliable, smooth Land Rover V-8 with only 4,000 miles on it. I sourced all internal and external motor parts from both Atlantic British Limited and Rovers North so all parts are correct and better than original. This entire project was done with care and
It all started with purchasing a 88 SWB Range Rover Classic bodied car.

Its the only Range Rover with the same MKI 2-door platform, from the bolt patterns for all the refitting, to the exposed door hinges to the correct chassis length at 100". The wheel base, chassis, motor, all exterior panels are identical so it was a excellent platform in which to start. Immediately after taking delivery, I first completely disassembled the car, searched for parts, sourced records, researched parts and information followed by the acquisition of all the parts and finally rebuilt it.
2-Door Range Rovers are the original and it wasn't until Late July 1981 that they started making them in 4-door with the same wheel base.  Through researching "The Range Rover" by James Taylor, I discovered that you could get the car converted to 4-door by various coach builders, like FLM Panelcraft, Monverdi and Wood and Picket. I choose the FLM Panelcraft car to base my build on. Panelcraft converted the most Range Rovers and are actually the basis by which the Land Rover engineers used to build their factory 4-door Range Rover model.

I had a blast finding parts on various sites. All my period correct parts are from 1977 Range Rover 2-door's or FLM Panelcraft Conversion cars and all found from the UK, so I began on eBay dot Uk and worked my way through other UK online parts suppliers such as Holden, John Craddock and Britishparts to name a few good ones. It was a delight to recieve a new part. All parts are from UK spec 2-door Range Rover's. There are many detailed, correct parts.

I started with all 1977 or earlier (76, 75) period correct parts, mostly new old stock (NOS) parts. The first was The Rostyle Wheels, and it rolled from there. These exterior parts included: Raised metal-period correct letters- on front hood and back tailgate spelling R-A-N-G-E--R-O-V-E-R, Wingard Bonnett Mirrors (NOS), aluminum vertical slotted grill, aluminum head light surrounds, 1977 steel bumper with 'Starter motor hand crank hole', UK spec side marker lights/housing (NOS and very rare), rear steel bumper 1977, Scuttle (Range Rover) aluminum badges, exposed gas cap housing (NOS), gas cap (NOS), rear brake/turn signal lights, lenses and housing (NOS), By Land Rover aluminum Badge period correct (NOS), and the last exterior part was the extremely hard to find Drop down aluminum License plate holder. With all these parts on it looked amazing and absolutely period correct. Now for the interior.

This was interesting. Where the exterior required mostly unbolt and bolt on the new old stock parts the interior required some rewiring and thats always interesting on a British Car. While its not complete, I began with these period correct parts: The three spoke steering wheel, Radiomobile radio, Speedometer/Gas/Water Temp Binacle dash, period correct steering cover with period correct signal switches, headlight switches and wiper switches. The Binnacle was out of a salvaged car and the currently reads 78626, THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT REFLECTION OF THE MILES ON THIS CAR. This rebuilt car has 4,000 miles on it. I did not want to take apart the odometer and left it as it is. A complete new center lower dash with Oil gauge, Clock, Oil Temp gauge, and Voltage. The lower dash also included the Heater switches and period correct heater switch cover and instructional plate on how to engage the center locking differential. The interior Spare tire cover is a crazy hard to find NEW OLD STOCK (NOS) Vinyl tire cover. At this point I required a bit of research as to what to do with the power window switches and the auto selector. After painstakingly searching the web, I found a Company that used to covert manual Range Rovers to Automatic transmission (JANSPEED). I actually found the period correct gear JaneSpeed selector cover!! That was an awesome find. In regards to the power window switches, I based my box on the PanelCraft 4-door conversion that also featured power windows and made the exact same box that houses the switches. At this point, I felt it time to address the motor. For this I could rebuild it to be an efficient, reliable and fuel efficient motor.

I completely rebuilt the 3.5L; period correct, engine down to the block. The Motor has 4,000 Miles on it.  For this new parts where sourced from Atlantic British and these included New: pistons, piston rods, Bearings, cam, planing the block and heads, steering pump, oil pump, water pump, timing chain, tappets, and all nuts, bolts, hoses and belts. The motors produces the original 150-155 BHP.  Its extremely smooth motor and runs very nice. It currently has 4,982 miles on the new motor. I used break in oil for the proper amount of miles; 900 miles, then changed it to Conventional 10W40 and I suggest you do the same. Its a older designed motor and synthetics are- and this sounds funny- too slippery. Ive always used Amsoil in my other cars but for conventional I recommend, Castrol or Mobile. THERE ARE NO OIL LEAKS and in a Land Rover product that is extraordinary.  When I removed the engine I used POR15  satin black To treat the interior firewall, chassis and motor compartment. POR is fantastic and is used to prohibit rust from developing.

The body is straight. The aluminum panels are rust free. The metal underneath the aluminum panels have been treated and are currently rust free.

On the chassis/suspension, I have replaced the four coil springs with New Old Stock (NOS) 2-door Range Rover coils to give the correct stance. The spring rating is a 1/4 ton.  All Bushing have been replaced: The self leveling strut bushings, rear bushings, new rear panhard rod bushings, all front bushings, new panhard rod bushings front, steering linkage, new pitman arm, new lower tie rod ends, new upper tie rod end, new steering box, new steering damper and tires. These parts have 5,000 miles on them.

The Brake have been replaced in 2011 and will not need replacing. The discs, calipers and pads are new.

I have identified just about all of the facts regarding improvements made but I am happy to answer any questions that you may have as well.
I am confident that this vehicle will serve you no matter what your plans are for it and it is one of a kind, it will do so with all of the distinction and performance that no other Range Rover has! It has been a part of my family and we all will greatly miss it, but its time for someone else to enjoy it and continue its legacy.

Jaguar Heritage to auction off part of its classic-car collection

Mon, Feb 19 2018

A few years back it was reported that Jaguar Land Rover had purchased the James Hull classic car collection in its entirety. The collection is beyond significant, as it was at the time of sale the biggest single collection of British cars in the world and the largest private car collection in the UK. Consisting of 543 cars, it ranged from the mundane to the obscure, including some extremely rare prototypes. There were 130 Jaguars, for example, from the C-type to the D-type to the XKSS. When the cars were put up for sale in 2014, the asking price was a not-insubstantial $170 million. JLR didn't reveal how much it spent to buy the cars, but now it seems the carmaker is about to recoup some of those costs. At least 50 cars from the collection will be sold by auction house Brightwells, as part of the Affordable Classics at Bicester sale on March 21; some reports have said JLR would be eventually offloading as many as 100 cars. Looking at the listing, there are some definite gems in there. Not all cars are British, as there are Citroens, Mercedes-Benzes, a Fiat and a Goggomobil. Jaguars and Land Rovers are notably absent from Brightwells' listing, which we take as a clue that the sale will consist of cars not crucial to JLR's wellbeing and heritage. That said, for a lover of British cars there's a possibility to grab something truly interesting: For example, the Reliant Scimitar Ferguson 4x4 Prototype must be worth preserving. A 4WD pioneer also known for Massey-Ferguson tractors, Ferguson fitted its system in Jensens as well as a prototype 4WD Mustang in the 1960s. The fiberglass-bodied Reliant sports car is an interesting sidenote in Ferguson's history. Then there's a Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HS, which is a veritable rally-bred RWD hot hatch in comparison to the American market Chevrolet Chevette, its distant relative. On the hot hatch front, there are also Metro and Maestro turbos, which offer plenty of poke in a light, boxy body. Or if you view the internet's popular "Worst Cars Ever Made" lists as shopping lists, you could build your own collection of slightly dodgy cars: Start with the unfortunate-looking Vanden Plas Allegro, continue to the malaise-tastic Morris Ital Camper, and finish it off with a late-model Lada Riva wagon from the mid-1990s. Some cars are in tip-top shape, and some are best seen as restoration projects, like the very pretty Borgward Isabella coupe from 1960.

Your guide to vehicle subscription services

Mon, Oct 1 2018

They might be extremely limited in scope because of location availability, but vehicle subscription services are a growing trend that most luxury manufacturers are jumping on. Plans are expensive, but you're paying for much more than just the car typically. We highlighted four of the larger plans with a few more listed at the end. Care by Volvo Volvo launched its subscription service last year with its brand-new XC40. It was the only vehicle available for a time, but subscribers can now get an S60 sedan as well. Subscriptions are for two years, with the monthly price including insurance, a concierge service, wear-and-tear item replacements and all maintenance. You'll be able to drive 15,000 miles per year with whichever Volvo you choose, and although there are no options to extend that mileage, you can swap cars after a year. Pricing for the XC40 is $650 per month in base trim, while an S60 can be as expensive as $850 for the R-Design. Volvo's plan is to offer more cars soon through the service, but it's relatively limited compared to others right now. Porsche Passport Porsche has two levels in its subscription service: Launch and Accelerate. Launch will cost $2,000 per month and give you access to the Cayman, Boxster, Macan and Cayenne. All of those but the Cayenne can be had in "S" trim as well. Accelerate is where the fun really starts. For $3,000 per month you can choose from a fleet of 911s, including the S, 4S, Cabriolet and Cabriolet S. If those aren't enough, you can also get the Panamera 4S, Macan GTS and Cayenne S. There are no mileage limits and you can change vehicles as often as you'd like. Also included in the price is insurance, repairs, detailing and any maintenance. It might be extremely expensive and limited to Atlanta only, but this subscription service is second-to-none for what you get. Audi Select Audi just launched its subscription car service, and it's offered in one version for a flat fee of $1,395 per month. For that you'll have access to five different cars including the A4, S5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet, Q5, and Q7. Not a bad range of vehicles, but it would've been neat to see the recently updated A7 in there too. Maybe in time. Like the others, insurance and maintenance are wrapped up in the price. Audi is allowing for unlimited miles and two car swaps per month here. In addition to that, you'll get two days of free rentals through Audi's Silvercar rental agency should you go on a trip.

Jaguar Land Rover puts the freeze on wounded soldier-athletes [w/video]

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

For athletes, the cold is often a powerful ally in treating injures, with RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) a popular means of treating muscle pulls, bruising and other common forms of discomfort. Did you know, though, that frosty temps are also popular tools for simply recovering from a rough training session?
Well, we're guessing Jaguar Land Rover knew that, as the British company was kind enough to loan out its climactic testing chamber to Jaco van Gass and Luke Darlington, a pair of veterans wounded in their service to Queen and Country. Van Gass, a former private in the Royal Army, and Darlington, a Royal Marine, are attempting to earn a spot on the British Armed Forces cycling team for the upcoming Invictus Games.
The Games, inspired by the Warrior Games held in the United States, are a sporting competition reserved for injured servicemen and women, either active duty or veterans, and is slated to take place from September 10 to 14 in London's former Olympic venues. Van Gass lost his left arm below the elbow after getting hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (he also suffered from a collapsed lung, punctured internal organs, severe shrapnel and blast wounds, a broken tibia and a fractured knee). Darlington, meanwhile, suffered a traumatic brain injury during action in Afghanistan, and he now suffers from weakness in his right side and cognitive issues.
