I bought this Rover in 2007 from a Doctor's son after his father that owned it died. The doctor was the orginal owner so it's only a two owner vehicle. It has been my daily driver for the past seven years with a lot of time and money invested. The suv is registered in Oklahoma but is located in Dallas, Texas were I am currently living. I will list all the mechanical parts replaced to give you an ideal of the money that has already been invested. I have purchased another truck for work and limited on storage space but really don't want it setting up and deteriorating, so I would rather sell it and let someone else enjoy the fun of driving this Rover. You will get many compliments on this vehicle and occasional person wanting a pic. It was repainted a 2011 Audi Tiki brown, all the doors were removed and jambs were painted so you will see no signs of the orginal black paint job. The paint job looks good but has a few issues around the door handles but not too noticeable (only up close). A lot of the parts on the inside were replaced with newer looking parts from Car Cannible in Oklahoma City, and Ebay, there are to many to list but can been seen in the pics of it's excellent condition, also the rear pillers are louvered metal painted the suv color and covered with brown vinyl. The interior doors and back cargo area have been sound proof with foil stick on matting to reduce road noise, and the radio has been wired for a ipod connection. All the parts listed are orginal equipment form either Atlantic British our Rovers North. It has ARB medium spring conversion with bilstein shocks. The CV joints have been rebuilt and all the fluids have been changed regularly, and only using Mobil synthetic motor oil. As many Rovers do it does leak a little oil. The headliner was replaced about six years ago and still has a few more left. The only know issues that I would fix if keeping would be the back hatch upper strut support mounts need to be reattached as the wear and tear have broken them lose from the frame. There are no warning lights on and all mechanical electrical working as should with only the cruise control stopped on the way down to Texas. This suv has been adult driven, not abused and is in excellent condition and completely rust free (reason for the higher selling price), it came from California to Oklahoma. If you purchase I would not hesitate to road trip this Rover anywhere! If your looking for a mint, non smoker than please do not bid on this 21 year old suv, but I know for a fact it is one of the cleanest. Please feel free to ask questions as there has been a lot of other things replaced or updated and to many to list all. Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations could build standalone models
Sun, Mar 8 2015Jaguar Land Rover may be set to turn its Special Vehicle Operations division into something much bigger than a mere in-house tuner. Bloomberg spoke to the head of JLR's high-performance, customization outfit, John Edwards, who hinted that his team may move beyond simply modifying F-Types, Range Rovers and the like. "We're certainly looking at that, and we've got the capability to do that," Edwards told AN. "Is there an opportunity for us to do a completely standalone car? Maybe." Such a move into full-scale, standalone models would be a big step, particularly for a division that's still kind of in its infancy. Bloomberg references the success of Mercedes-AMG, but the German division has had the benefit of decades of growth. AMG spent years and years building high-performance versions of all manner of mainstream Mercedes vehicles, before moving onto cars like the SLS AMG and AMG GT, which have no mainstream analog. In other words, AMG had a long time to develop a reputation building high-performance vehicles that people know and recognize before it moved into building vehicles of its own. We aren't entirely convinced that SpecOps wouldn't benefit from taking a similar approach, delivering additional SVR vehicles, like the rumored XE SVR, before striking out on its own. We'd like to know what you think, though. Is it already time for Special Vehicle Operations to build standalone models, or should it learn to walk before it runs by modifying more of Jaguar Land Rover's existing product. Have your say in Comments. Related Video:
Jaguar Land Rover considering Mexican plant
Mon, Apr 27 2015Jaguar Land Rover has been expanding its production out of the UK and into overseas markets, and according to the latest word from Bloomberg, the British automaker is considering spending more than half a billion dollars to build a new assembly plant somewhere in Mexico. Since the Range Rover Sport and Evoque are two of the company's top sellers in the US, those would reportedly be the most likely to be manufactured at the Mexican plant, although Jaguars could follow as well. The automaker was previously said to be leaning towards a location in the Southern US, and while it could conceivably proceed with plans for both, it would be more likely to go with one or the other. State and local authorities below the Mason-Dixon line have been soliciting the business with various incentives, but lower labor costs South of the Border could prove more attractive to JLR and its parent company Tata. It wouldn't be the first, after all. Over the past month alone, General Motors committed to building the next Chevy Cruze in Mexico, Toyota did the same with the Corolla, Hyundai was reported to be considering a similar step, and Ford announced two new plants in the country amounting to a $2.5-billion investment. Luxury automakers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes have also been delving into Mexican production as well, blazing a path that JLR could potentially follow. The British automaker recently opened a plant in China and another in Brazil, while investing in additional facilities in the UK as well.
Jaguar Land Rover likely to build US plant... in three years
Mon, Mar 9 2015Jaguar Land Rover may very well open a plant in the United States, but the latest word has it that it'll be another three years or so before the company even makes a decision on the matter. The prospect first came up on our radar back in October when we reported that JLR was considering building a plant in the South. Georgia governor Nathan Deal even flew to the UK to solicit JLR's business. Former parent-company chairman Ratan Tata subsequently confirmed the idea was under consideration last month. And now the British automaker's CEO has told Automotive News that JLR will need a US assembly plant to fuel its growth in the vital North American market, but that'll it'll take a while to get going. The reasons for the delay, according to chief executive Ralf Speth, are threefold. For one thing, the automaker has its hands full at the moment opening plants in other locations: last year it opened one in China and this year it opened one in Brazil. It also recently opened a new SVO facility, an electric-propulsion R&D center and a new engine plant all in the UK, and can only handle building so many new facilities at a time. JLR will also need US suppliers of aluminum components to step up their game, as the company relies heavily on aluminum construction for their vehicles. US automakers shifting to aluminum for models like the new Ford F-150 will encourage American suppliers to get into the game, but it may be a while before they're up to Jaguar Land Rover standards. Finally, JLR will need to increase its sales potential in the US in order to justify local production. Speth says the company would need one model of which it could sell 30,000 to 40,000 units in the US alone, and it sold less than 18,000 units of its best-selling the Range Rover Sport here last year. In fact the entire Jaguar brand sold less than 16,000 units throughout all of last year in America, with Land Rover selling far more at over 50,000 units to contribute to total sales of over 67,000 units.
