I'm happy to offer for a sale this BEAUTIFUL color combination 2000 Range Rover.  It has been very well cared for and drives like a dream!  Let's dive right in!

Background:
Let me begin with a little background.   This gorgeous Rover was ordered as the 4.6HSK which offered loads of options, the biggest engine available and was adorned with many extras on top of the option package.  Aside from the dual zone climate control, sunroof, leather interior, power windows, locks, mirrors, seats, etc, etc, etc, that every P38 came standard with from the factory, the HSK and this truck took it much further!  The HSK package added a loads of burled walnut covering the dash, shifter, steering wheel, HVAC, radio, window switches, ashtrays and center console lid.  It also added Navigation!  And those little details make a huge difference and make this truck go head to head with many more modern trucks!  The cabin becomes increasingly warmer in feel and finish and steps up the details of luxury to a level not even seen in future generations of Range Rover.  This HSK came out of the factory in a beautiful color combination: White Gold Pearl Metallic over Lightstone Leather.  It is truly in a BEAUTIFUL and CLASSIC color package.

This black beauty was ordered and delivered from Land Rover in Southern California and has stayed in sunny, dry, temperate Southern California since arriving here.  It is rust free!!!! The truck was driven and kept as collector item in many regards.  It was extensively serviced by Land Rover of Encino and even while being driven very little, kept in dry storage, started often and serviced with dedication and care.  It keeps getting better!  Let's continue to the service!

The Condition and Service:

This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service!

Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:
This engine has LOW MILES for the year (less than 8,000 a year!!), only 111,000 miles appear on the odometer and the entire truck shows the same care.  There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep in near brand new condition.  The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth power!  Even while in storage this truck was started often and driven to maintain lubrication of seals and overall integrity.  It was kept in the same regard you would keep a classic car and it shows!

-HEAD GASKETS
As part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received brand new OEM head gaskets and OEM headbolts. THIS is the maintenance you want to see on a Rover!  The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated.  The heads were cleaned and resurfaced as part of the service and ready to go!!

-LOWER ENGINE and BLOCK
No bangs, no burning oil, NO ISSUES!

-UPPER ENGINE
While being serviced, the valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets and seals, valve stem seals, front cover gasket and upper intake gaskets, all resealed among a few other minor seals.  NONE of these were leaking, but were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care.  The upper and lower intakes, valve covers and front cover were thoroughly cleaned.

-OIL
Oil was recently changed with the right 20/50w oil.

-RADIATOR
The radiator was flushed and cleaned in order to keep maximum flow and keep this beauty nice and cool.  The temp needle NEVER moves past 12 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic.  The proper OAT coolant is used and brand new!  Check out the overflow tank - not heat stressed!

-IGNITION
BRAND NEW Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and NGK wires.

-BATTERY
BRAND NEW Interstate battery!! Cranks hard and fast everytime!

-BELT
Brand new belt!

-EMERGENCY BRAKE
Recently adjusted and tight, only a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight

-TRANSMISSION
The trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great!

-DIFFERENTIALS
New gear oil in the diffs!

-CATALYTIC CONVERTORS
No scents or rattles!

-ENGINE BAY
Check out the overall cleanliness of the engine bay!  This is not a steam clean special.  This is a labor of love.  A consistent cleaning to keep things looking great.

Lets move to the suspension and brakes:

-BRAKES
BRAND NEW front brakes pads and rears have have good life and the truck brakes great.  No ABS lights!

-AIR SUSPENSION (EAS)
Fully functioning and serviced EAS system!  Not spring converted! Check out the pictures to see the off road, regular and access mode settings!  This alone is an increasing rarity!  The P38 air suspension rides so smooth and soft with the EAS and truly is a treat.  Truck self levels and airs up and down quickly!

-SHOCKS
Great feeling OEM shocks.  They are soft on bumps and tight in corners.  The trucks handles wonderfully and is paired wonderful with the EAS.

-4WD SYSTEM
4WD Low and High both work great!  The center viscous is great with no bucking or hopping in tight u-turns.

Let's continue to the exterior:

-PAINT
The paint is very nice!  It is a 8 out of 10 easily.  Shiny, beautiful White Gold Pearl Metallic paint was recently polished, finished and waxed.  It looks FANTASTIC.  CLEAN and CLEAR CarFax.  White Gold is a great color that shines deeply in the sun and also hides dirt well if you can't get to the car wash that day. There are few minor dings and flaws which are very hard to see in pics and in person.  Remember this is a near 14 year old truck with what appears to be totally original paint, there may be some minor scratches, wear etc, but they are well below any expectation level for Range Rovers or cars of this year.  Even against more modern cars the paint will compete head to head - it really is quite nice.

-TIRES
This Rover has BRAND NEW Falken Ziex tires!  It just keeps getting better this truck!!!! Full sized UNUSED spare tire in trunk.

-WHEELS
The Hurricane wheels look great!  Only minor flaws on them and then clean up great!

-ROOF RACK
This Rover has the full sized OEM roof rack which is in great shape and looks fantastic!  These are over $500 USED even now.

-BUMPERS, VALANCES and PLASTICS
The bumpers are in very nice shape and free of the typical sun fade or plastic degradation that is so common in them.  Only minor flaws show, with a small mar in the rear bumper being worth mentioning. The other plastic or rubberized plastic trim, shine beautifully!   The lower grill and valance are very nice and the foglights are free of cracks or issues!  These little bits of trim quality and integrity drastically increase the look and beauty of a P38!  The rear tail light brush guard cover has a small broken piece.

-GRILL
Rover P38 grills are known to crack in places...not this beauty!

-WIPERS
BRAND NEW ANCO wipers!!!

-REAR VIEW MIRRORS
Take a look at the pics - the plastic on these mirrors are usually faded and showing major age signs....not here!!

-REAR FINISH PANELS
Also known to fade are the rear Leatherette panels beside the tailgate.  They are in great shape with no fading and shine with a deep luster!

-GLASS
The windshield has a small chip, slightly larger than a pencil eraser.  NO cracking or spider webs!  The door glass is wonderful shape!

-HEADLIGHTS
The glass headlights are in great shape with no issues.  I wanted to bring up the headlights because some Rover fans way notice they are the all-white headlights instead of the black and white.  I spoke with a friend who has worked for a Range Rover dealer for a number of years and was told some of the very first model 2000 were in some ways a half 1999 and half 2000.  One of the crossover places being the headlights.  This is a very early model 2000, being built in late summer of 1999.  It is some of the first 2000 Model Year Rovers to have been made.  So what we see is likely an early model still with white headlights.  They are in great shape and work wonderfully!

-TRAILER HITCH
The Rover has a factory trailer hitch and is ready to tow.  In the spot of the tow hitch is a great shape OEM Land Rover trailer hitch cap!

-UNDERCARRIAGE
Nice undercarriage!  No rot or trail scars.

Onto the cabin:

-SEATS
The Lightstone leather seats are fantastic!!!  There is NO tears, NO split in half seams.  They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leather is SO SO SO soft and comfortable.  Without exaggeration: they are a combination of some of the best quality and comfort I have ever experienced in a P38 Rover.  I truly love driving this truck.  You sit high and comfortably in these buttery soft seats!  The leather has been cared for tremendously and has been recently cleaned and conditioned.  The arm rests are missing a small plastic trim piece on the sides, which is purely aesthetic.  The adjustable arm rests look and work nicely!

-HEADLINER
The headliner is BRAND NEW.  OEM Rover headliners tend to sag over time due to poor glue.  Worry not with this brand new OEM color replacement!

-CARPET
Very nice carpet in the truck!  Only minor flaws if you looked hard could possibly take away from being near factory fresh.  The truck also includes the floor mats as well which are in nice shape, with some minor wear.

-POWER LOCKS
All power locks work perfectly!!!  Yes Rover fans!  ALL POWER LOCKS WORK.  Ready for more....

-KEYLESS ENTRY
Keyless entry works perfectly!!!  Did you faint???  Its ok, I understand.  Not only does the keyless entry work, but the truck has two very nice shape keyless entry pads AND two original standard keys!  I take tell you the last Rover I saw that had all of these!

-POWER SEATS
All power seat functions work perfect!  Hard to find in a P38!

-POWER WINDOWS
All windows work smooth and quickly!  No jams or snags!

-SUNROOF
Sunroof works great!  It is quick and smooth.  Most Rovers (IF they work) are slow and clunky.  Not here.

-RADIO/CD CHANGER
In 2000 the Range Rovers received the much more reliable and better sounding Alpine radio.  It is in great shape, with no LCDs out!  OEM 6 disc CD changer in the trunk and works great!!!

-NAVIGATION
This truly is a treat!  Totally functional and great working shape OEM Range Rover Navigation!!!  Read that again!  CD boots up, Nav works, maps work, even night time dimming and color change!  From the factory it was called "J.A.M.E.S."  British humor aside, old Jim works like a charm!!

-AC/HEAT
AC is arctic cold and heat is earth core hot!  I need to stress how cold this air gets.  It has been in the 90s for a while here in sunny SoCal, and while ascending the mountains the other day in the heat with the AC on and the sun beaming into the truck, I was cold.  The AC blows hard and cold and well maintained engine doesn't mind one bit!

-MIRRORS
Power mirrors work perfectly!

-WOOD
Nice wood on the console, doors and dash! Some of the veneer on the center vent wood has chipped.

-STEERING WHEEL
The wood is near perfect!!  This little change in having a wood wheel in my humble opinion makes for a totally different driving experience.  It just feels RIGHT in your hands.  Its smooth and comfortable and offsets the leather wonderfully!  The leather is nice, with no tears or frays, only some minor wear.  Now, for a real Rover treat!  The steering wheel radio buttons work!!!  Volume and channels changed from your finger tips is a rarity in these trucks, and its all working great!!

-SHIFTER
Wood on the shifter handle is smooth and soft and shifts smoothly!  Again, this little change makes for a huge difference in the way the truck feels when you drive.  Something about a nicely polished, smooth wood shifter just feels right in your hand!

-CARGO AREA
Rear carpet is fantastic and both upper and lower tailgates work great!

The Experience
Driving this P38 Rover is fantastic. It is Lexus quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce.  It has all the power it had from the factory and then some, and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Range Rover.  It even smells new, cleaned, leathery and wonderful inside. This P38 was a truck reserved only for the wealthiest individuals and was optioned as such.  This was nearly a $70,000 truck in 2000 as it was optioned - almost $100,000 in today's money!  There are other P38 out there.  If you find one with more methodical service and lower miles, I urge you to buy it! Remember, Rovers take a little extra care and feeding, so a Rover with questionable, unknown or poor service history is worth little if you add up all the service that will need to be done to make it a reliable, beautiful, solid truck again.  Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear.  As you may tell from my ad, I know the care that these trucks need and the details that make them tier 1, from a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well.  If an ad says "Low miles and well cared for"  Ask questions!  If you don't get thorough, well addressed answers, start planning more money and more aspirin.  This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION!  If you were to add up all of the recent items in this truck, you would find well over $7k in recent retail scheduled and preventive service.  This truck is ready to go live LOADS miles of beautiful, reliable, enjoyed life in your hands.  Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service!

Feel free to ask me any questions at all.  Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new truck as soon as possible.   CA residents, registration recently expired, but I will deduct the expired registration fees from the final sale price!

My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The truck is sold with no warranty.  You are buying a used car.  Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know.  I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service.  I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Rovers (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these trucks.  That said, if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them.  Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use.  That means please do not expect a showroom brand new truck. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 111,000 mile truck that however is well above average for its year.   This is very low miles for Range Rovers of this year, but please just remember that no 111,000 mile truck is perfect, even brand new cars aren't perfect.  It is though a clean, VERY nice truck! Please only bid if you intend to buy.  If you would like to have an Ebay 3rd party mechanic service check out the truck I MORE than welcome it.  Please have the truck checked out before bidding and not after, if you intend to use that service. Please check your local laws and registration procedures before buying.  Please ask any and all questions ahead of purchase.  All sales are final, you are buying as-is, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech.

Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!

It's a Rover world, we are just living in it!

Jaguar Land Rover to drop supercharged V8 for turbocharged BMW power

Wed, Jul 27 2016

There are few things that sound as good as Jaguar's 5.0 liter supercharged V8. As great as it is when the supercharger whines or the exhaust cracks and pops on throttle lift-off as the air pressure equalizes, the basic design dates back to the '90s. Plainly, the engine isn't as efficient as it needs to be, but designing a new V8 from the ground up is an expensive proposition. Instead, Automobile reports that Jaguar Land Rover is set to use a twin-turbocharged V8s supplied by BMW. Scalable architecture is all the rage as automakers streamline designs in order to save costs. For example, Jaguar's current supercharged V6 is quite literally a V8 with two holes missing. They didn't even change the length of the block. It seems both of those designs are on their way out, with the V6 being replaced by a inline-six closely related to the company's inline four. It seems that rather than designing an new and expensive V8 for their top of the line models JLR, is sourcing from BMW. From 1994 to 2000, BMW owned Land Rover. A few models, including the Land Rover Range Rover, used BMW engines then and in the initial years of Ford's JLR stewardship. It seems things have now come full circle. BMW currently makes a twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 that produces anywhere from 440 to 600 horsepower, depending on the application. Automobile says that a new 4.0 liter V8 is in the works and that it will most likely be the engine that JLR uses. Expect it to be more powerful, more fuel efficient, and lighter than what both BMW and JLR currently offer. This seems like a win for both companies. BMW gets to offset the cost of a new motor while JLR, a smaller company, doesn't have to invest in a whole new architecture. As automakers search for ways to cut costs, expect collaborations like this to continue. Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz both share a four-cylinder engine. Ford and GM have worked together to design a shared 10-speed automatic. While we may lament the loss of that wonderful Jaguar Land Rover engine, we can still be happy that they haven't abandoned the V8. Land Rover Defender V8 vs. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 | V8 4x4s square off on paper

Thu, Feb 25 2021

Land Rover pulled the sheet off its 2022 Defender on Wednesday, introducing another high-performance V8 to the off-road segment. This time, it's a 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 boasting 518 horsepower. It will be available in both the Defender 90 and 110 models. In the former, Land Rover says it can crack off a 0-60 run in just 4.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 149 mph. The long-wheelbase 110 will be a bit slower, but "slow" probably isn't the right adjective to use here at all.  But Land Rover isn't the only automaker offering a high-performance variant of its off-road SUV. While Jeep may have been sneered at for presenting the 2021 Wrangler Rubicon 392 on the heels of the 2021 Ford Bronco's introduction, it starts to make a lot more sense in this context. There's reportedly a high-output Bronco on the way, too, so call Jeep the dinosaur of the group all you want, but you can't put a price on being first. Well, you can, actually, but that's not the point.  Thankfully, both Land Rover and Jeep have provided enough specs for us to rough out a comparison chart. Since the Rubicon 392 is offered only in four-door guise, we're looking at the long-wheelbase Defender 110 as its direct competitor here. Have a look: There are a few caveats to mention off the top. For starters, we don't have an official curb weight for the V8-powered Defender yet, as Land Rover has not finalized its U.S. specs. We used the European figures (as provided by a spokesperson), which we expect to be accurate within about 50 pounds. The 0-60 time provided by Land Rover was for the Defender 90, which is smaller and somewhat lighter than the 110. When equipped with the inline-6, the Defender 110 is about a tenth of a second slower to 60 than the Defender 90, so we figure it should be roughly the same for the V8.  While the Defender has nearly 50 horsepower on the Wrangler, that advantage disappears thanks to the Land Rover V8's monster weight penalty, which will fall somewhere between 600 and 700 pounds depending on equipment. Yikes. On the flip side, however, the Land Rover has the edge in top speed, and it's not even close. Chalk that up to the tires, we suspect. We know for a fact that the Rubicon 392's all-terrains dictate its speed limiter; Jeep's own engineers told us as much. This could make for a (hypothetically) interesting drag race, as the Jeep's advantage off the line may evaporate once triple digits come into play.

Pivi Pro Jaguar Land Rover Infotainment Review | A massive improvement

Fri, Aug 6 2021

Infotainment systems in Jaguar Land Rover products have irked us for a long while. They’re generally a good step — or several — behind other luxury automakers' infotainment systems in terms of features and looks. But the big problem has always been their functionality. Even right out of the gate, they exhibited an undue amount of lag and general bugginess. Pivi Pro is supposed to change all of that. ItÂ’s JLRÂ’s completely new-from-the-ground-up infotainment system that is quickly spreading across the companyÂ’s range of products. It features a new screen size and layout. Plus, the software itÂ’s running is vastly different from what we saw previously. Our Byron Hurd got a first taste of it with a number of JLR products in a short period of time and found it to be a big improvement. Now, weÂ’ve had a new Land Rover Discovery in the garage for a longer period to fully suss out the system. Will it hold up? Watch the video above for a quick tour, and keep reading for some more detailed thoughts. Before diving in too deep, you should know off the top that Pivi Pro is a massive improvement over JLR infotainment systems of old. There are still some issues, but the new systemÂ’s performance is exponentially better than what itÂ’s replacing. This is partly thanks to it now running off its own backup battery. This allows the whole system to load immediately upon startup, ensuring that you arenÂ’t sitting and waiting for items to populate after you press the start button.  The new 11.4-inch screen this software plays on is splendid to both look at and touch. ItÂ’s a super-high-resolution panel, and it takes to our inputs quickly and without protest. The new UI layout makes things easier and prettier, too. All of your important items are tucked into a panel on the left, making them super easy to find and select. Plus, a sticky “home” button means you can always find your way out of menus when youÂ’re done diving around. We dig the three-panel home screen and its minimalist style, but for those who might favor maximum functionality over a pretty home screen, you can replace this with rows of app icons. For those wanting to use their phones, there is indeed an in-car WiFi data plan available to buy. Plus, JLR newly allows you to connect two devices via Bluetooth instead of just one. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are nicely integrated with this new system.
