1994 Land Rover Range Rover County Lwb (needs Transmission Work) on 2040-cars
Powhatan, Virginia, United States
This is a 1994 Land Rover Range Rover. It has a little over 70,000 miles. The transmission has developed some shifting problems and will need to fixed. I do not know what the problem is. The car will go into park, reverse, drive, neutral, 3, 2, 1. It functions normally in all of the gears, just when in drive, the car will rev to about 3500 rpm and then shift hard into the next gear. The interior is in great condition with just some normal wear on the drivers seat. The front carpets have been replaced with a industrial matting, which is nicer than the original carpets. All of the windows work fine, and the engine runs very smoothly. The notoriously faulty air suspension has been replaced with coil spring and shock suspension which is very comfortable. The paint is in excellent condition. The rear tailgate does not have any rust on it, which is rare. This car is one of very few that had the gold lettering on the body panels. Just another thing to set this car apart from the rest. I took the car to the local Rover dealer and they said that this car is the cleanest County they have ever seen. It does not have any leaks coming from the engine. The headliner was just replaced due to the common problem of the original headliner sagging. The radio sounds amazing. But I pulled out the radio from the dash and I do not think I put the wires incorrectly because the radio does not work now.Truly iconic car. Would be a GREAT car, just needs some work on the transmission. Vehicle is sold "as-is". No warranty written, or implied.
This car did have some rust just above the bumper, but I had the rust cut out and new steel welded in. No rust anywhere else on the car. Auto check says car was in an accident. The accident was minor and car had little damage. Was fixed well and car has no evidence of an accident. |

Jaguar Land Rover cutting production in face of falling demand
Sat, Feb 8 2020LONDON — Jaguar Land Rover will reduce or stop production on certain days at two of its British factories over the next few weeks as Britain's biggest carmaker pursues cost-cutting measures in response to falling demand. JLR posted a 2.3% drop in retail sales in the three months to the end of December and has targeted billions of pounds worth of savings to tackle falling diesel demand in Europe and a tough sales environment in China. The firm will halt production on selected days over a four-week period from late February at its Castle Bromwich factory in central England and stop production on some half or full days at its nearby Solihull facility until the end of March. "The external environment remains challenging for our industry and the company is taking decisive actions to achieve the necessary operational efficiencies to safeguard long-term success," the company said in a statement. "We have confirmed that Solihull and Castle Bromwich will make some minor changes to their production schedules to reflect fluctuating demand globally, whilst still meeting customer needs." The move is not connected to coronavirus, a spokeswoman said, which prompted Fiat Chrysler to warn on Thursday that a European plant could shut down within two to four weeks if Chinese parts suppliers cannot get back to work. Jaguar tests autonomous vehicle technology with 100-car fleet
Wed, Jul 13 2016Jaguar Land Rover is exploring how to take autonomous vehicle technology off the paved path. But the company has plans for technology on tarmac, too. The company announced that the Jaguar division will have a fleet of 100 cars testing autonomous technologies on public roads. The testing process will cover a period of four years and begin with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems, along with a stereo camera system and autonomous vehicle software. These systems will work together to provide a variety of features that could make their way into future Jaguars and Land Rovers. The first feature in development is called "Roadwork Assist." The system relies on the stereo camera to create a 3D image the car's software can analyze. The software can identify road cones and other barriers associated with construction sites. The car will then alert the driver about entering the construction zone and provide some steering assistance to keep the car centered in its lane. Tony Harper, Jaguar's head of research, said that this system can reduce stress on the driver, and the technology could eventually be used to allow the car to pilot itself through construction zones. Another of Jaguar's proposed features is "Safe Pullaway," which also relies on cameras and software. The Safe Pullaway feature is designed to prevent close-proximity collisions in traffic jams and even in the garage. To do this, the car watches the area immediately ahead of it for obstacles. If the car detects something nearby while the driver adds throttle or shifts into gear, it will apply the brakes to prevent driving into the object. The final project on Jaguar's plate is its "Over the Horizon Warning" system. This will be one of the first features to rely on Jaguar's vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology. The idea is that connected cars in constant communication will give drivers additional warning of upcoming hazards, such as out-of-sight animals and slowed or stopped cars. In Jaguar's example of a stopped car, the stationary vehicle would send a signal alerting approaching cars of the situation. In turn, the approaching vehicles would trigger audible and visual warnings to drivers about the hidden car. Jaguar says that the system could also be applied to emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicles would broadcast a signal to alert drivers well before the lights and sirens get their attention. This would give emergency vehicles a faster, safer path through traffic.
