For sale is
my 1991 Range Rover with just under 103,000 original miles. I purchased it in
early summer this year in hopes to fully restore its original beauty and make
it my daily driver. Unfortunately, this "dream" will have to wait
until another time period and I regretfully need to sell due to financial
reasons. Since purchased I have put less than 500 miles on it; most recently
being a 95 mile round trip utilizing highway (70-80 mph) and city (25-45 mph)
roads. I must say that I am very impressed with the way that it drives. Being that I
have only owned it a couple months, I can only tell you what I know to the best
of my knowledge. With that being said, here is my best shot at an overview: This RR has
102,423 original miles (which may change due to occasional driving and being
listed locally). It is green in color and could really benefit
from a new paint job. To be honest, this was going to be the first thing that I
planned on getting done after winter. I planned on having minor body work done
on the rust areas (as shown in the pictures) and then a complete paint job
after winter. As I just mentioned, it has some rust bubbling under the paint in
some areas and surface rust as well, mostly on the bumper and hitch (also shown
in pictures). The tires in my estimate have about 85% tread left and all seem
to show consistent wear. The spare is there, but would recommend replacing it
for a more reliable tire. This RR is equipped
with cruise and I honestly have not tried to use it so I am not sure if it
works. I can check it if requested, but since I never use it on my family
vehicles, I never tested it. The radio has a cassette player, but currently no
sound comes out of the speakers. There is power to the stereo, but no sound. I
have not checked it out to see if the issue is the connection or the speakers.
It also has air / heat. I can say that the blower works, but the air is not ice
cold and it has not been cold enough to check the heater. The sun/moon roof
works as do the power seats, power mirrors, and all 4 power windows. The front
and rear wipers work and I was told that the rear brakes were replaced. I was
also told that the pitman ball arms were replaced in the front before I
purchased it which makes the steering feel tight. It also comes with new brake
pads and rotors for the front and rear (as shown in the pictures in a box). All
that needs to be done is install. The interior for its age looks
amazing...especially the rear seats and floor. The worst
things that I can mention about this RR is there is a 1.4amp battery drain that
over time will kill the battery (previous owner informed me). The previous
owner installed a twist know battery connection that cuts the power to the
vehicle when parked for long periods of time. I had it parked for a week with
the disconnect and then started it right up when reconnected (this was also
something I was going to investigate getting fixed to make it a more reliable
daily driver). The windshield wash light comes on and off even though it is
full. I haven't been able to see if there is a loose connection to the sensor,
but that would be the first place I would check. The engine light comes on
after a period of time. I narrowed it down to after it is running for a while
when warmed up, if you sit in park or are stuck in traffic for a period of time
(stop light) is when it comes on. I did drive it last week for about 2 hours
with shutting off the vehicle a couple times for about 5 min each. During a 30
min consistent 25-40 mph drive and no long idles, the check engine light did
not come on; hence my original assumption. I am not a mechanic so I have no
real idea what it could be. I drove it 70 miles with it on and had no
issues...and as mentioned I drove it for about 35-40 miles with no long idling
and the light never came on. To me there isn't anything that seems to affect
the vehicle, but again, I am not a mechanic. Also, the headliner is sagging and
needs to eventually be repaired / replaced. This is typical on these older
RR's. Please
remember that this is a 22 year old vehicle and is far from being new. You will
hear the "creaks and squeaks" of a true truck of this age and will
always have something that will need attention. I will say though that I have
been looking for one for a long time and this is one of the lowest mileage RR's
that I have found this old. If I didn't run into the immediate financial need,
I would not be listing this as it took me a long time to find one with these
miles and current shape without any restoration done to it. If you have
any questions, I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. I apologize if there is anything I forgot,
but I hope my description covers it as well as the pictures. Winning
bidder is responsible for a $500 non-refundable deposit. Remaining balance needs to be paid by
certified funds or cash. Shipping is the
responsibility of the winning bidder; however I prefer local pickup. I can only assist by being available at time
of pickup if winning bid is not local and shipping is required. I also have this listed locally and have the
right to cancel the listing at any time.
If seriously interested, please contact me after bidding so I can
communicate any local interest which might negate the high bid. Thanks for looking! |

Jaguar Land Rover hands Tata the biggest loss in Indian corporate history
Fri, Feb 8 2019BENGALURU/NEW DELHI — Jaguar Land Rover's owner Tata Motors Ltd stunned markets by posting the biggest-ever quarterly loss in Indian corporate history of about $4 billion on slumping China sales, sending its shares crashing as much as 30 percent. Tata Motors also warned that the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) unit, which brings in most of its revenue, would swing to an operating loss for the year versus an earlier projection it would break even, given weak sales at the luxury British carmaker. JLR's China retail sales were cut almost in half in the December quarter as overall demand in the world's biggest auto market contracted last year for the first time since the 1990s. The firm has also been buffeted by Brexit woes and weaker business for diesel cars that account for bulk of its sales in Europe. Tata Motors turned in a third-quarter loss of 269.93 billion rupees ($3.8 billion) on Thursday, more than half its current market capitalization of $6.1 billion, mostly due to a massive impairment at JLR. Analysts were expecting a profit. "We are now taking clear and decisive actions in JLR to step up its competitiveness, reduce costs and improve cash flows and make the business fit for the future," Chief Financial Officer PB Balaji told reporters on a conference call on Thursday. JLR has taken steps to address the slide in China sales by changing its strategy to focus on profits for dealers instead of sales and incentivising retail sales over wholesale, he said. "We are encouraged by continued demand for the refreshed Range Rover and Range Rover Sport," JLR Chief Commercial Officer Felix Brautigam said in a statement. "With deliveries of the new Evoque due to start later this quarter, we look forward to building momentum." But analysts expect JLR to struggle to generate profit with China's economy projected to slow further this year after growth eased to its weakest pace in almost three decades in 2018. JLR's overall retail sales in January plunged 11 percent. The dour numbers prompted Tata investors to make a beeline for the exits as markets opened on Friday, with shares of the company skidding to their lowest in nine years at one point. The stock was down about 20 percent by 0720 GMT near 150 rupees, on track for its sharpest drop since 2003. At least four brokerages cut their price target for Tata Motors shares after its quarterly loss. Analysts at Jefferies pegged the stock at 250 rupees, versus an earlier target of 300 rupees, citing weak performance at JLR.
Land Rover knows where you're going and how you want to get there
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Land Rover makes some of the most capable SUVs on or off the road, and some of the most luxurious too. But the British automaker isn't about to rest on those laurels - not when every other automaker assaults its territory with sport-utes of their own. That's why Land Rover has been working so hard on nifty new technologies from a depth-sounder in the door mirror of the Range Rover Sport an augmented-reality head-up display that makes the whole front of the car virtually disappear.
JLR's newest tech may not be ground-breaking, but its integration promises to make driving around town that much easier. The system syncs with the driver's smartphone and uses all manner of parameters - including driver habits, weather and location as well as the presence of other passengers - to make the commute go as smoothly as possible. Get into the car and it'll set the seat and mirrors for you. No big deal, because lots of cars do that. But it'll also set up the nav system to take you to work and the sound system to play your favorite music. Okay, getting more interesting.
Get in with your kids and it'll know not only that you've got to drop them off at school first (or remind you to pack their gym bag if they've got soccer practice after school that day) but that they might not enjoy that Chumbawamba album you've been listening to since college and it'll play something it knows you'll all enjoy based on your listening history. Then it'll switch back to Tubthumping once the kids are out, remind you of your morning meeting and alert those you're scheduled to meet with if you get stuck in traffic while finding you a better route to get there, monitoring fuel levels all the while and telling you if you'll need to tank up before you reach your destination. It knows if you like calling your mother on the drive to work and will lower the air suspension to make it easier to hop out once you get there.
Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations could build standalone models
Sun, Mar 8 2015Jaguar Land Rover may be set to turn its Special Vehicle Operations division into something much bigger than a mere in-house tuner. Bloomberg spoke to the head of JLR's high-performance, customization outfit, John Edwards, who hinted that his team may move beyond simply modifying F-Types, Range Rovers and the like. "We're certainly looking at that, and we've got the capability to do that," Edwards told AN. "Is there an opportunity for us to do a completely standalone car? Maybe." Such a move into full-scale, standalone models would be a big step, particularly for a division that's still kind of in its infancy. Bloomberg references the success of Mercedes-AMG, but the German division has had the benefit of decades of growth. AMG spent years and years building high-performance versions of all manner of mainstream Mercedes vehicles, before moving onto cars like the SLS AMG and AMG GT, which have no mainstream analog. In other words, AMG had a long time to develop a reputation building high-performance vehicles that people know and recognize before it moved into building vehicles of its own. We aren't entirely convinced that SpecOps wouldn't benefit from taking a similar approach, delivering additional SVR vehicles, like the rumored XE SVR, before striking out on its own. We'd like to know what you think, though. Is it already time for Special Vehicle Operations to build standalone models, or should it learn to walk before it runs by modifying more of Jaguar Land Rover's existing product.
