I will shoot it to you straight, this is an old truck. She has rust on the right corner of the hood but now the entire truck is covered in Durabak bedliner, the drivers door and fender are replacements ( not wrecked, trail mishap),windshield is cracked and one of the lights on the rack is cracked. Driver door and fender needs to be shimmed out ( I have the shims) door needs a rewire for the window to go up. I have never had a belt running to the AC and I would bet it does not work. Overdrive linkage needs adjusting. The driver seat does not move. But really, who cares about this stuff?! This thing is a beast!!

Now with the good. It has around 125k miles but only around 1500 ( Rotella oil) on a 4.6 from a 1998 Range Rover with a Crower 229 cam and lifters. Cloyes timing gears and chain. The block was completely broken down and checked for cracks and liner slippage at JB Cook in Memphis. All new bearings installed before rebuild. New oil cooler lines (upper and lower). New alternator. It has a 2 inch lift with Rovertyme coils and Old Man Emu shocks and steering stabilizer. Defender 16 inch rims/33 inch Crawlers from Treadwright with less than 2000 miles, they are hard as rocks and will outlast any mud tire and they look like the old Grip Spurs. New heater core from Atlantic British installed 1 month ago. New front calipers, pads and discs up front, back brakes are good and new discs and pads for the rear are in the back of the truck. Wilderness Rack up top with 4 Hella 500s Factory bull bar up front with 2 huge Hellas not sure of the model. GM ignition module swapped in. Interior is in pretty good shape, drivers and front passenger seats are rough but not splits, headliner is not sagging and back seats look really good.

I have already done the expensive stuff!!! This truck turns heads for sure! Looks like it just came off an expedition. It's as tuff as it looks and it is perfect for a Rover enthusiast that can turn a wrench and is familiar with all Rover quirks! I am embarrassed to say how much I have sunk into this thing! She's muddy, loud and I hate to see her go! And believe me she will go anywhere you point her.

Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and I would recommend this vehicle be shipped.

GM, Audi, Jaguar halt Russian sales amidst ruble's collapse

Fri, Dec 19 2014

The value of Russia's ruble currency has sunk like a stone tossed in the Volga for much of the year, losing over 40 percent of its worth since June. The change is having bizarre effects on the auto industry there and leaving some automakers scrambling to adjust. According to Bloomberg, Russians are buying up luxury goods including automobiles at the moment to have a physical investment in case the ruble sinks further. However, with the money worth so little, the companies aren't making much from these transactions. Things are so dire that several automakers are temporarily ending deliveries until the situation stabilizes. According to Bloomberg, General Motors stopped sales on December 16 with no set date to start again. Audi did the same thing but with the intention to resume once it has adjusted model pricing. Jaguar Land Rover terminated business until December 19 to see how things changed. Toyota is increasing its pricing, as well, but keeping business open at the same time. Some automakers have subtly been reacting to the slumping Russian auto market all year. The moves have included Volkswagen cutting production by 30,000 units from its factory in Kaluga. Ford also got rid of 950 workers from two plants due to low demand. Some analysts have even speculated that the contracting industry and possibility of lower import duties into the country could cause companies to end their manufacturing in Russia completely.

Jaguar Land Rover to drop supercharged V8 for turbocharged BMW power

Wed, Jul 27 2016

There are few things that sound as good as Jaguar's 5.0 liter supercharged V8. As great as it is when the supercharger whines or the exhaust cracks and pops on throttle lift-off as the air pressure equalizes, the basic design dates back to the '90s. Plainly, the engine isn't as efficient as it needs to be, but designing a new V8 from the ground up is an expensive proposition. Instead, Automobile reports that Jaguar Land Rover is set to use a twin-turbocharged V8s supplied by BMW. Scalable architecture is all the rage as automakers streamline designs in order to save costs. For example, Jaguar's current supercharged V6 is quite literally a V8 with two holes missing. They didn't even change the length of the block. It seems both of those designs are on their way out, with the V6 being replaced by a inline-six closely related to the company's inline four. It seems that rather than designing an new and expensive V8 for their top of the line models JLR, is sourcing from BMW. From 1994 to 2000, BMW owned Land Rover. A few models, including the Land Rover Range Rover, used BMW engines then and in the initial years of Ford's JLR stewardship. It seems things have now come full circle. BMW currently makes a twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 that produces anywhere from 440 to 600 horsepower, depending on the application. Automobile says that a new 4.0 liter V8 is in the works and that it will most likely be the engine that JLR uses. Expect it to be more powerful, more fuel efficient, and lighter than what both BMW and JLR currently offer. This seems like a win for both companies. BMW gets to offset the cost of a new motor while JLR, a smaller company, doesn't have to invest in a whole new architecture. As automakers search for ways to cut costs, expect collaborations like this to continue. Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz both share a four-cylinder engine. Ford and GM have worked together to design a shared 10-speed automatic. While we may lament the loss of that wonderful Jaguar Land Rover engine, we can still be happy that they haven't abandoned the V8. Second 'No Time To Die' trailer drops with lots of crunching metal

Thu, Sep 3 2020

The second trailer for the new James Bond film, "No Time To Die," was posted to social media Thursday morning, getting us thoroughly hyped for the forthcoming installment thanks to some spicy car content and lots of other ridiculous, big-budget action sequences.  Fair warning for the purists: This might contain plot- and character-related information from the trailer itself. Also, it appears that many Land Rover Defenders died in the making of this film, so the footage may not be for the faint of heart; don't say we didn't give you advance notice.  As is typical of Bond films, most of the automotive eye candy is of the European variety. The classic Aston Martin DB5 gadget car (which we saw doing some crazy machine-gun donuts in the first trailer) makes yet another appearance, as does what appears to be fourth-generation Maserati Quattroporte. There's even something which might be a car, but also appears to be both some sort of airplane and submersible. Never change, Bond. We love it.  And then there are the Defenders. We've got Defenders speeding down hillsides, Defenders crashing through forests, Defenders flying over Land Cruisers. Yeah, do you like Land Cruisers? There's a Land Cruiser. It even (spoiler alert!) survives relatively unscathed; the same cannot be said for most of the automotive shenanigans we get to see here.  "No Time To Die" was originally slated to debut back in April, but its original release date roughly coincided with the projected peak of early coronavirus infections. Given how important the Bond film franchise's continued success is to MGM (it's virtually the only thing the studio has had going for it for 30 years) and the producers (who only make Bond films), meager box office returns were not an option. The last film, Spectre, pulled in the worldwide gross of $880 million, including $200 million in the United States and $83.5 million in China. The wait is almost over. "No Time to Die" will hit theaters Nov. 25 in the United States.  Related Video:
