I bought this truck on 1/14/05, sticker was $38 and by the time it was paid off in 2009 I paid $43,000. It has 7000 miles on it from driving back and forth to CA where this car was driven for 3 yrs until I moved back to Ny in August. This car was purchased for my X wife while I lived in South Merrick,NY in case we had kids. Since then (6/05) I used it as my third car as I decided to keep it 5 months later! From 6/05 to 9/08 while living in the city the car was kept at a friends home in the hamptons and was used on wknds only for daily drives. Winter of 08 I moved to LA where the car was kept far from any ocean and was my 3rd car while living therE. It was hardly used but always maintained. August /12 I moved back to NY and because of hurricane Sandy I lost my business and have to move to another city (Chicago) where I wont need a car once again. I need the money to make the move instead and now use different transportation and have no need for a car. This truck comes with automatic start (great for cold or hot weather!). This truck was NEVER in an accident and everything  is original besides the electric start! *I literally know nothing about cars, Im going to tell you everything I know and what issues I know the car does have. I must move in 3 wks for a new job, this truck must be gone by then. **My reserve is low, Ive left room for shipping fees on your end. As well as what ever needs to be fixed.**

Problems with the car: The back left tail light needs to be replaced- the left side door; I was driving in LA and rubbed against the big round pipe that sits in front of the gas pump. In LA the talent of women is abundant and it was when I first moved there. As I was pulling away my eyes moved to the right as my car was turning left pulling away from the pump and I cut it short and pushed in the door. She noticed as others did and it was quite embarring as everyone knew what happened, she was that incredible!! I have been pulled over atleast ten times in LA and NY for someone to punch out the door and fix it- offers ranged from $150-$400 I guess it depended on my dress attire for that day.- Back seat; for some reason I cant fully push it back? It was fine until in August/12 I needed to move something and dropped the seat and that was that. All seats are in great condition with no tears or holes. Backseat middle seat belt was cut, 5 yrs ago it got stuck and I got frustrated and cut it, bad decision but whats done is done. Front moonroof; Hasn't opened in 2 yrs, I was told I needed to clean out some hole, (why theres a hole is beside me) leaves got in the hole and clogged it? No idea and was ok with it not working. My other car is a convertible and I had a motorcycle at the time. Front left fender area; someone's car seems to have rubbed up against it but its not dented, you can rub it out, that didn't bother me either. All minor issues that can easily be fixed.

On Oct 27th Hurricane Sandy hit, fortunately I went to stay in the city with a friend of mine up on 80th st on the 26th of Oct the day before, (my other car not as fortunate -vintage corvette). On the 28th I drove back into Long Island with supplies, food and gas! I helped as many people as I could for the next 3 days. I did drive this truck through some water that was up to my tires but I felt it was worth it to get people to safer grounds! On 11/05/12 I received a picture ticket: I took a pic of the ticket. NY was still is distress at the time and bridges where down still ( I was helping a family get to a better place) to my surprise I received the ticket over a month later.  I took the car off the road in Dec as I couldn afford the insurance anymore with no income coming in (I pay $350 a month). The car was started every wk if not 2-4 times a wk depending on the weather that wk. The car drives well, tires are great, ZERO water got into the engine (it was checked by my mechanic after what help I could offer) all windows work, all lights work, zero exterior damage besides whats listed, no interior damage besides whats listed, all electronics work, BUT: some symbols pop up on the dashboard when I turn the car on, they blink? The light by the shifter blinks when normally it would stay solid red when in gear. Since I dont need the car anymore I have no reason to get fixed what ever needs to be fixed. Im selling the car as is and will not be held responsible for what ever issues the car may have. It could just be a switch or circuit or whatever its called that needs to be replaced or could be something more. I do know this, the engine 1000% is fine and the car itself is great! As far as electronics, the lights blinking I do not know what that is! I drove the car today (4/17/13) around the block and it drove fine, lights blinking and all. Please call me at 516.889.1729 for any further questions, Gary. This is for pickup only or I will work with you for it to be picked up. I sold my motorcycle to a gentleman in Saigon before leaving LA and that went off with no problems! Thanks for looking!

All of the Bond cars of 'No Time To Die' (caution for spoilers)

Thu, Sep 30 2021

Note: The following overview of the cars in No Time To Die contains spoilers. Read at your own risk, or come back after seeing the film to make sure you caught everything.   No Time To Die picks up right around where Spectre leaves us. James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux) are driving along in Bond’s restored and iconic DB5 in Matera, Italy. Things donÂ’t stay all that cheery for long in picturesque Matera, though. As is tradition in Bond films, the first car chase hits us with an explosion of action in what's a super-long opening scene. Fourth-gen Maserati Quattroporte: The baddies in the beginning are driving a Maserati and chasing after Bond in the DB5. Specifically, theyÂ’re in a fourth-gen Quattroporte, which feels right for a chase scene in Italy. Its squared-off looks are mean enough, and its Italian growl is a good background soundtrack to the DB5Â’s inline-six. In addition to the Quattroporte, the chase scene in Matera is home to a couple of the best stunts of the entire movie, including the arch jump done with a Triumph motorcycle seen in trailers — Matera is extremely hilly. Eventually, Bond and Swann find themselves in the DB5 again together, which is where the famous gatling gun scene from the trailer commences, but not before the bulletproof windows and body of the DB5 are thoroughly tested. RIP to the first-gen Range Rover Classics and Jaguar XFs that joined the Maserati in pursuit of Bond (here's a list of other Bond cars over the years). As the DB5 escape scene concludes, we catch a glimpse of what appears to be a Ferrari from the 1970s. However, the view was far enough away that weÂ’ll need a second look to be sure of the exact model. Land Rover Series III: Next time we see Bond, heÂ’s fishing in Jamaica and driving around a blue Land Rover Series III. ItÂ’s yet another of the many Land Rover products featured throughout the film, and unlike most of BondÂ’s Aston Martins, this one doesnÂ’t seem to have any unique features. The other intriguing vehicle out of Jamaica? An old Chevrolet Bel-Air expertly and effectively piloted by Bond newcomer, Ana de Armas. Next up, we get a few shots of the new and still-not-for-sale Aston Martin Valhalla mid-engine supercar (also seen in trailers). BondÂ’s old boss M is in the scene which appears to have been shot in some secret wind tunnel of sorts. Much to our dismay, nobody ends up driving the Valhalla in the film. Could it be a teaser for what the next 007Â’s car is?

Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car

Fri, Jan 6 2017

Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.

Cargo ship carrying 1,200 Jaguars and Land Rovers deliberately run aground [w/video]

Mon, Jan 5 2015

A cargo ship carrying a load of new cars out of Southampton has run aground in the English Channel in between England and the Isle of Wight. The vessel apparently suffered some sort of failure just 45 minutes after leaving port that caused it to list heavily to the starboard side before the crew deliberately beached it on Bramble Bank to prevent the ship from capsizing altogether. The vessel, called the Hoegh Osaka, is a 590-foot car carrier weighing some 57,000 tons and registered in Singapore. Although several automakers (including Honda and Bentley) were reportedly looking into whether they had cars on board, the vessel is said to have been filled to approximately one-third its capacity, with 1,400 vehicles on board – including 1,200 Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, 65 Mini models and one Rolls-Royce Wraith. 70 to 80 pieces of construction equipment were also said to be on board. The Hoegh Osaka was en route from the southern British port of Southampton to Bremerhaven, Germany. Fortunately, no major injuries have been reported. The crew was mostly airlifted by helicopter off of the beached ship, with two crew members evacuated by lifeboat. One crew member reportedly jumped over 25 feet off the ship into the water before being immediately retrieved by rescue workers. According to the Daily Mail, two crew members were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken leg. It may take several days, if not longer, to extract the vessel from the sand bank and ascertain the damage to the ship and its cargo. An early attempt to free the ship with tugboats failed, meaning that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency may have to wait until more favorable high tides to try again before towing the ship back into the port. Bramble Bank, where the vessel was run aground, is a well-known obstacle to maritime navigators. The Queen Elizabeth 2 ran aground there in November 2008 with 1,700 passengers on board, but was quickly freed by four tugboats and was able to continue on its way. Two local yacht clubs also play a cricket match there every year at low tide. The vessel's operator, Hoegh Autoliners, praised the skill and quick thinking of the crew in acting to prevent the ship's capsizing by running her aground on the soft, sandy shoal. Watch the clip below for aerial footage of the beached ship, courtesy of the BBC. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
