Remarkably clean 2000 Land Rover Discovery Series II. This is the second year of the Discovery Series II, SE model. It is fairly loaded with all Power amenities except DVD system. This Discovery also has dual Power sunroofs ( both work fine and DO NOT leak), roof bars and the factory Tow package ( although nothing has been towed). No engine issues or other drama. The powertrain runs GREAT. Additionally, it has fairly rare GRAY leather upholstery interior ( as opposed to the common tan), which offsets it very nicely with its original burgundy factory finish. ZERO RUST.

I believe in full disclosure to the best of my abilities. I purchased the DII from the original owner for the SD roof rack, which is a rare option that most people actually dislike. I have uninstalled it ( as most people are concerned about height clearances anyway), and I am listing it back for sale for a bit less than what I paid for it.  Therefore, it was NOT my mom's car, my wife's who drove it on the weekends or my grandma who drove it to church. I believe in being honest and upfront.
The original owner was to provide me with an extensive pdf file of most of its service and repair history ( which is nice to have); I will be glad to pass it on when he turns it over to me.

This Land Rover is and has been a 100% rust-free CALIFORNIA CAR all of its life. It has been locally owned since purchased brand-new at Land Rover of San Jose in the south bay, and owned by the same person since. It was tapped once in the rear bumper area by a minivan ( it should be shown in the CARFAX report as well), and being still a fairly new Land Rover at that time, the insurance company paid a ridiculous amount to settle claim, hence it carries salvage title ( as it occurs when an insurance company pays a significant amount based on the value of the vehicle).

There are NO other accidents, repaints, or anything other than normal driving conditions around the Bay area, where it has always lived. There are NO signs or indication of damage anywhere on the body, other than the small crack on the plastic. Moreover, this Landie runs VERY well, tracks smoothly and drives very nicely both in town and in the highway.

All Power accessories work well, to include its ICE-COLD Air Conditioning system, both Power sunroofs, all Power windows, both Power seats, the cruise control, and all instruments and lights. There are NO service lights on ( NO TC, CHECK ENGINE, ABS or HDC lights turned off or reset). The DII has 167K original miles on the strong, reliable 4.0L engine. NO 4.6L engine nightmares here.

In addition, this one is also equipped with  the optional ACE  handling package option (Active Cornering Enhancement, an electronically controlled hydraulic anti-roll bar system, which reduced cornering roll).
It is noted by the original owner that there are extensive service records including recent maintenance and service going back to 2000, but as they were not present at the time of the listing, I am not stating their availability. Should he send them to me, I will gladly include them.

This DII had a new set of MICHELIN Latitude radials installed last year; they have at least 80% tread left.

Considering its vintage, This Discovery II is remarkably clean, and the photos do not do it justice~! The 2000 SE is one of the best years to own. It is turn-key, WITHOUT the usual head-gasket issues nor overheating, and it will make a great traveler or off-road trekker. In addition, it has had a full brake service performed about a year ago, and all-new radial tires in December.

The interior upholstery is in remarkable shape, with NO rips, tears or splits of the leather. The dash is mint, with no cracks or weathering. The carpets and all door panels are very clean, to include the rear cargo area. RARE gray leather interior upholstery, which offsets very nicely with its glossy factory burgundy finish. Absolutely ZERO RUST throughout the whole car.

Feel free to EM or call with pertinent questions or inquiries. I am a private seller, not some car dealer outfit, a used-car car lot, and MOST definitely not one of those sketchy types selling cars in a parking lot.

I have spent over 20 years in this great country's military and have owned Land Rovers of various types and vintage for nearly 35 years. I am well versed on all the Land Rover quirks and have assessed this DII as a VERY solid, straight and completely rust-free example of a Discovery. This Landie sits quietly in the driveway at my home, in company of my three other Rovers.

The Land Rover has always been a one-owner Land Rover DII since new, and has always been here locally. Honest CARFAX REPORT and original-ownership since new. NON-SMOKER, NO pets or children in it. Always adult-owned, and its condition reflects it.
Overall, a straight, good-running Discovery for a modest, fair price. Needs nothing and runs and drives very well. Serious inquiries please.

* I reserve the right to end this listing at any time prior to the end of the auction, should an offer or a BUT-IT-NOW offer present itself.

I Shall be glad to assist with NATIONWIDE or OVERSEAS delivery at the most economical shipping rate available. I can do all coordination from here, and you pay the transporter cost directly to the shipper upon receipt of the Discovery.

Should you be the winning bidder, we would like to receive payment within THREE business days, please. Cashiers check or Bank draft are preferred. Personal, business or annuity checks may be utilized, but must clear funds source prior to any transportation arrangements being made. Another option is a Bank wire transfer to our local CHASE Bank branch here in town. That expedites the process considerably and allows for faster shipping arrangements.

Upon receipt of payment, we will overnight the title, registration card, bill of sale and all service records to the winning bidder for your protection.

       Thank you for your interest~!

10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019

Tue, Dec 24 2019

It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references.  Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.

Check out King Charles III's $17.6 million car collection

Fri, May 5 2023

King Charles III's coronation will take place in England on May 6, and being crowned a monarch comes with a long list of perks with four wheels. He will gain full access to the Royal Family's fleet of cars, which is valued at about GBP14 million (approximately $17.6 million). The two most expensive cars in the collection are nearly identical: they're a pair of Bentley State Limousine models (pictured) built for Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III's mother, in 2002. Only two units were made, and they're both part of the Royal Family's fleet, so they're difficult to put a value on; it's not like one is going to end up listed on your favorite auction site anytime soon. British company Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, which compiled the list, estimates that each armored, 245-inch long sedan is worth at least GBP10,000,000 (roughly $12.6 million). Dropping below the eight-digit threshold, the second-most-valuable car in the Royal Family's fleet isn't really a car. It's the Gold State Coach, which Matchbox recently released a 1/64-scale replica of, and its value is estimated at GBP1.6 million (about $2 million). At 275 inches long it's even bigger than the Bentley limousine and it weighs about 9,000 pounds. It's 261 years old and designed to be pulled by eight horses, and has been part of every coronation since 1831. The rest of the Royal Family's vehicles are relatively mundane. There's a 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Volante that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Phillip, bought for King Charles III on his 21st birthday. It's worth GBP1 million (about $1.2 million). The collection also includes a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI (about $627,000), a Bentley Bentayga (about $201,000), a Land Rover Range Rover long-wheelbase Landaulet ($133,000), a Jaguar XE (about $41,000), and a Land Rover Defender ($38,000). "Luxury cars have long been associated with the monarch and King Charles III, in particular, is known for his fondness of motor vehicles. His impressive collection features sentimental value with motors passed down from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to cars bought for him by his parents," explained Keith Hawes, the director of Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, in an interview with CBS News. Being at the head of a car-making nation's royal family also comes with drawbacks: Every vehicle in King Charles III's fleet is British.
