             Remarkably clean 2003 Land Rover Discovery Series II. This is the first year of the Discovery Series II 4.6L with the new revisions, updated interior and front end, and an SE model. It is a super-straight, totally RUST-FREE DII throughout, to include chassis, undercarriage, roofline and gutters, door panels, fenders, quarter panels, door sills, rocker panels and tailgate areas.

 This is a hard-to-find ONE-OWNER DII, originally sold new at Land Rover of Redwood city here in the Bay area, and has ALWAYS resided locally in Redwood City, northern California since its original sale date. Original owner-purchased until now. All computerized service records are available at Land Rover of RWC. Completely stock and original. NO towing, NO off-roading, NO accidents and NO issues. FLAWLESS CARFAX report, and it scores 81 out of  a 51-70 rating.

It is fairly loaded with all Power amenities except DVD system. This Discovery II has the dual Power-sunroof option ( both work fine and DO NOT leak), roof bars and factory Tow package ( although nothing has been towed). 

               Stock, all-original 4.6L BOSCH engine. 96K original miles. No engine issues or other drama; the powertrain runs GREAT. This Discovery II runs and drives VERY well and drives nicely both in town and in the highway.

All Power accessories work well, to include its ICE-COLD Air Conditioning system, both Power sunroofs, all four Power windows, both Power heated seats, the cruise control, both Power mirrors, and all instruments, heater/defroster, horn, its factory CD player and all lights. There are NO service lights on ( NO TC, CHECK ENGINE, ABS or HDC lights turned off or reset). 

 Considering its vintage, This Discovery II is remarkably clean, and the photos do not do it justice~! The 2003 SE is one of the best years to own. It is turn-key, WITHOUT the usual head-gasket issues nor overheating, and it will make a great traveler or off-road trekker. 



              The interior upholstery is in remarkable shape, with NO rips, tears or splits of the leather. The dash is mint, with no cracks or weathering. The carpets and all door panels are very clean, to include the rear cargo area. NON-SMOKER Discovery.

Beautiful Roman-bronze factory finish still shines very well, and looks very nice. No dents, fading nor oxidation of the clearcoat or finish, to include the roof and hood areas. Nice factory optional 18" HURRICANE alloy wheels with MICHELIN radial tires mounted on them; they have approximately 85% tread all around. Full brake service all the way around less than two years ago.

While I am not a mechanic, I am an avid Land Rover enthusiast ( I own four others) and consider myself fairly well-versed on most of the Land Rover quirks and have assessed this DII as a VERY solid, straight and rust-free example of a Series II Land Rover Discovery.

        Overall, a super-straight, good-running and good looking DII with the revised 4.6L engine, updated front end, ready for trips, off-road excursions or runaround vehicle,  with a reasonably opening bid and no reserve.  Runs and drives well and it looks very nice.

Despite a severe list to starboard, many of the 1,400 cars and SUVs aboard the 51,000-ton Hoegh Osaka are currently being recovered in salvageable condition, with video showing some of the vehicles from British brands Land Rover, Jaguar and Mini, being driven ashore under their own power. The car-carrying vessel developed a severe list on January 3 and was intentionally run aground on a sandbar between England and the Isle of Wight. It has since limped its way back to port in Southampton, where damage assessments are being conducted on both the ship and its $53-million in cargo. According to the company that owns the car carrier, the ship itself only suffered minor damage in the incident, while Car and Driver is reporting that many of the damaged vehicles will almost certainly be scrapped. Still, the fact that there are vehicles, some of which appear undamaged (look at that Defender at 0:50!), being removed from the Hoegh Osaka needs to count as a net win. Jaguar Land Rover signs manufacturing contract with Magna Steyr

Jaguar Land Rover is in the midst of implementing big plans. Those include a raft of new models, and a series of new manufacturing facilities to build them. It seems, however, that the former is outpacing the latter, as the British automaker has just announced a new manufacturing contract to have some of its vehicles built off-site. The latest deal is with Magna Steyr, the contract manufacturer based in Graz, Austria. That could see a Land Rover produced at the same facility that has handled the Mercedes G-Class since 1979, or a Jaguar at the same place that assembled the Aston Martin Rapide until 2012 when production was moved back to the UK. The big question at this point is just what JLR will choose to have Magna build on its behalf. The British automaker isn't saying at this point, but a spokesman confirmed to Autoblog that it will be a future product – not an existing line moved from its current production site to the contract manufacturer, as Mercedes recently did with the R-Class. A timeline wasn't announced at this early stage, either, but we're told it will take about 24 months before new Jaguars or Land Rovers start rolling out of the plant in Austria. Just what those new vehicles will be remains to be seen, but Jaguar Land Rover has a number of new products on their way. It is expected to reveal in the near future a new Defender, a replacement for the current LR4/Discovery, the new Evoque convertible, a new XJ flagship sedan, and possibly a new coupe and convertible to take the place of the old XK. We'll soon see the new Jaguar F-Pace, which may be followed by additional crossovers as well. The company also recently introduced the new XE, XF, and Discovery Sport models, though given the timeframes, they'll almost certainly be produced at JLR's existing facilities. It recently opened its first overseas plant in China, has another one under construction in Brazil, and is also said to be considering a plant in North America on either side of the US-Mexican border. As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
