Vehicle Description 2004 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SE 4X4 SUV. LUXURY FOR LESS. BEAUTIFUL BRITISH TAN LEATHER BUCKET SEATS WITH PIPING, WITH FLIP AWAY REAR SEATS FOR LOTS OF STORAGE, TOW PKG, FRONT SUN ROOF AND REAR MOON ROOF. HOOK UP THE BOAT, LOAD THE KIDS AND HEAD FOR THE KEYS. GIVE ME A CALL. ERIC 561-7159769 Vehicle Overview Land Rover’s midsize sport utility vehicle earned a fresh look, akin to the larger, newly redesigned Range Rover, for the 2003 model year. The interior was refurbished, the V-8 engine gained power, and improvements to the braking and suspension systems were introduced. Three versions are available: base S, midlevel SE and top-of-the-line HSE. For 2004, a manual locking center differential has been added to the standard four-wheel traction control. A new Aero Roof Rail System is installed, and a DVD player is newly available for the S and SE trim levels. Owned by Ford, Land Rover is part of the Aston Martin Jaguar Land Rover organization. In addition to the posh Range Rover, Land Rover offers the smaller Freelander. Exterior Even though the Discovery retained what the manufacturer calls its “iconic profile,” the new “family face” was inspired by the redesigned Range Rover. Turn-signal indicators appear on the upper vertical light cluster for improved visibility by traffic to the rear. Last year’s new front bumper improved the Discovery’s cross-country ability over rocky ground by providing a better approach angle. The Discovery has a separate body mounted to a ladder frame at 14 rubber-insulated points. The quarter panels, rear door and hood are composed of aluminum alloy. Four-wheel Electronic Traction Control and Hill Descent Control systems are standard. Options include Active Cornering Enhancement, which minimizes roll through bends. Rear fog lamps are installed on all models. Alloy wheels hold 16-inch tires on the S model, but the SE and HSE ride on 18-inch tires. The Discovery rides on a 100-inch wheelbase, measures 185.2 inches long overall and stands 76.4 inches tall. Interior The Discovery seats five people in standard form and up to seven when fitted with optional equipment. The SUV features powered front seats and a 60/40-split, folding rear seat. Duragrain upholstery goes into the S model, while the SE and HSE are equipped with leather seating surfaces. Standard equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, keyless entry with central locking and an auto-dimming inside mirror. The SE edition has burled wood interior trim, a premium 220-watt audio system with 12 speakers, a six-CD changer, dual tilting and sliding sunroofs, and headlamp washers. Automatic leveling, a Park Distance Control reverse warning system and a 320-watt Harman Kardon audio system with Becker GPS navigation capability go into the HSE model. A Rear Seat option package for all models consists of forward-facing third-row seats and a hydraulic rear step for easier access. Cargo space totals 63.3 cubic feet with the rear seat folded. Under the Hood Land Rover’s 4.6-liter V-8 engine produces 217 horsepower and 300 pounds-feet of torque. The automaker says the Discovery can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds. A four-speed-automatic transmission teams with permanently engaged four-wheel drive, which includes a two-speed transfer case. The Discovery’s towing capacity reaches 7,700 pounds in Low range for a trailer with brakes. No-brake trailers are limited to 1,650 pounds. Safety LATCH child-safety seat tethers, electronic traction control and all-terrain antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution are standard. A collision-activated inertia switch unlocks the doors, turns off the fuel pump and activates the hazard lights. Side-impact airbags are not available. Contact Information

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.
Jaguar Land Rover recalls Takata airbag-equipped cars
Fri, Aug 5 2016In the latest chapter of what feels like the never-ending recall, Jaguar Land Rover announced that it's calling back 2009-2011 Jaguar XFs and 2007-2011 Land Rover Range Rovers for defective Takata airbags on the front passenger side. These Takata airbags have propellant that may have degraded and, if activated, could release metal shrapnel. The company is breaking up the recall into four phases, since currently there are not enough parts to do a full recall. Since the airbags can be more seriously affected by high heat and humidity, the first phase will cover vehicles that were sold and/or registered in regions with high temperatures and humidity. The regions included are as follows: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the US Virgin Islands. Other phases will begin as parts become available, and priority will be given to regions at greater risk of having defective equipment. Jaguar Land Rover encourages owners of affected vehicles to go to www.SaferCar.gov to check if their vehicle is included in the current recall. The first phase includes 54,000 of 108,000 affected vehicles. The company is also notifying owners of the issue, who will eventually get a second notification when parts are available so they can schedule a time to have the airbags replaced. Related Video:
Jaguar Land Rover launches Pivotal subscription service
Fri, Jul 3 2020Two years ago, Jaguar Land Rover launched a subscription service in the UK dubbed Carpe. The program was effectively a 12-month lease with no deposit and no mileage limit, and an all-inclusive monthly payment covering insurance, tax, service, and repairs. For GBP910 ($1,134 U.S.) plus the cost of fuel every month, a subscriber could secure a Jaguar E-Pace at the bottom end, a payment of GBP2,200 ($2,741 U.S.) per month opening the doors to a Range Rover Sport. In between, the Range Rover Evoque cost GBP980, the Jaguar XE GBP1,200, the Range Rover Velar GBP1,255, and Land Rover Discovery GBP1,550. The numbers and customer feedback have encouraged JLR to turn Carpe into Pivotal, with new lease levels, terms, and restrictions. Instead of keeping a vehicle for 12 months, Pivotal subscribers pay GBP550 to join, then swap out every six months. Changing cars early incurs a GBP250 fee, or customers can request to stick with the vehicle they have beyond six months, but JLR reserves the right to switch out cars when necessary. Pivotal keeps tabs to the odometer, too — instead of unlimited driving, the program caps fee-free travel at 1,500 miles per month, 20 pence per mile after that. However, the FAQ section explains that "mileage is accumulative so do not worry if you do not use your full mileage allowance, the first month can be carried on into the next within a given vehicle."Â Carpe's six levels have been reduced to four Pivotal tiers. Blue costs GBP750 ($934 U.S.) per month and offers access to the Jaguar F-Pace, Land Rover Discovery Sport, or Range Rover Evoque, clearly a much better deal than GBP910 for an E-Pace (and we like the E-Pace). Indigo runs GBP1,150 ($1,433 U.S.) for the choice of a Jaguar I-Pace, Range Rover Velar, or Land Rover Discovery. Violet, costing GBP1,350 ($1,682 U.S.), comes with just one vehicle for now, the Range Rover Sport. Same goes for Ultraviolet at GBP1,600 ($1,993 U.S.), which gets the Range Rover. The brand already has plans to expand the fleet with the new Defender, and plug-in hybrid versions of the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque The only noted repair item not covered is windshield replacement, which carries a GBP150 deductible. The splashy rework in England comes shortly after Mercedes-Benz shuttered its Collection service here in the U.S. On trial for two years in Nashville, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, Collection couldn't get the traction Mercedes wanted.
