this 2004 Disco has been taken from stock vehicle to the way you see it now in the last 6 months.  I bought this to make a local off-road sponsorship vehicle, but ended up putting so much time into it that i just cant stand to put it in the mud now, so i am using my 92 range rover classic instead..This is the rarest condition and color combo I have ever seen in an HSE.  The interior is flawless and even includes original factory mats.  I have added the following to the interior:

-in-dash 7" DVD/NAV kenwood unit that is "hidden wired" into the glove box for your ipod also.  NAV is touch screen Garmin.  You can set it to play zone audio (dvd up front and stereo in the rear, etc.).  Also, setup for bluetooth, Sirius, cd, usb disk.  Watch movies while you drive- kidding!
-upgraded harmon kardon stock speakers
-JL Audio 4 channel 600 Watt amp hidden under passenger seat (out of sight)
-custom built box to replace storage panel in rear that is wrapped in matching leather
-1 10" JL Audio w3 sub with grill and 4 ga. wiring kit to ensure the sound is superior
-additional sound dampening and anti vibrate padding has been installed throughout which keep sound crisp and quality
-hard wired for escort 9500i radar
-tinted windows and windshield to 15%

TOTAL interior upgrades/mods:  stereo and accessories $3200, tint $250

Exterior:
-2" Old Man Emu lift springs and shocks (extra heavy duty in front and heavy duty in rear).
-Air bag suspension to coil rear conversion kit (i still have air bags if you desired to sell them separate or keep) to eliminate sag or bag failure in the future- could be very expensive if they failed.
-ARB full bumper replacement
-Hella Rallye 1000 lights mounted on bumper and wired inside the glove box to hide wiring as well.
-Warn 9500 9.5x winch (never even uncoiled) mounted in bumper with external controls
-Rovers North set me up with these steel rock sliders that i use as nerf bars and eliminate the plastic that was there before...(only one pictured as these just arrived)
-18" Land Rover wheels painted black and wrapped in Nitto Trail Grappler 32" tires.  These tires have only been driven less than 400 miles since install (it sits in garage)
-replaced weathered fender trim to look new again.  Also replaced both headlights that were starting to get hazy $700
**All labor and install OTHER than wheels/tires has been done by the dealership and given a warranty.  When converting the air suspension to coil springs, i was more comfortable with them being responsible!

TOTAL exterior upgrades/mods:  wheels/tires $3000, lift kit and conversion $3000, winch, bumper, lights $2700, nerf bars $1000 - just under $10k

I have receipts showing dates on all mentioned to validate the investment made as well as warranty on some items.  There are no mechanical issues with this vehicle. It fires and goes just as it should. I have owned many discovery II before, and am familiar with the potential maintenance long-term, but this one has no signs of usual head gasket, water pump type failure.  All electrical items work, including heated seats.  Otherwise, this is a low mile, great condition disco that i am willing to sell for less than what i have in it!  Please let me know if you have questions, and good luck!  MUST see and drive this thing to know how nice it is.

Jaguar Land Rover exploring 3D HUD and infotainment projections

Wed, Aug 21 2019

With its most recent technology research, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is exploring the use of 3D projections for a world before and/or after autonomous vehicles come to fruition. In collaboration with the United Kingdom's University of Cambridge, JLR has developed concepts for a 3D head-up display that shows information on the road ahead and a system that projects personalized 3D infotainment for vehicle passengers.  As of right now, hundreds of production vehicles are equipped with two-dimensional head-up displays, some color, others black and white. Using various techniques and different technologies, manufacturers display information in a flat image in front of a driver. Some might find it distracting or unhelpful to have this in the driver's line of sight, and JLR might have found a solution. Rather than wedge the information in between the person and the view ahead, a 3D system that uses augmented reality could display the info onto the road in front of the driver. JLR thinks the system could project navigation directions, safety alerts such as lane departure, hazard detection or other bits typically found in a car's infotainment or instrument cluster. Some might find this to be even more distracting that 2D head-up displays, but to each his or her own. While the 3D head-up display is something that could be used right now, if it were released and passed legal, part two of JLR's 3D technology research is imagined for a life where truly autonomous vehicles are skating across the country. Using head- and eye-tracking technology, the system could lock into the position of numerous people in a vehicle and give each of them a personalized 3D projection "screen." This could be used to track a trip, look up points of interest, or even watch movies. JLR points out this could be used during ride-sharing without bothering others in the vehicle. The work with the Center for Advanced Photonics and Electronics at Cambridge is still in development for now, but it's only a matter of time before 3D tech makes it into cars in some degree.

Check out King Charles III's $17.6 million car collection

Fri, May 5 2023

King Charles III's coronation will take place in England on May 6, and being crowned a monarch comes with a long list of perks with four wheels. He will gain full access to the Royal Family's fleet of cars, which is valued at about GBP14 million (approximately $17.6 million). The two most expensive cars in the collection are nearly identical: they're a pair of Bentley State Limousine models (pictured) built for Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III's mother, in 2002. Only two units were made, and they're both part of the Royal Family's fleet, so they're difficult to put a value on; it's not like one is going to end up listed on your favorite auction site anytime soon. British company Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, which compiled the list, estimates that each armored, 245-inch long sedan is worth at least GBP10,000,000 (roughly $12.6 million). Dropping below the eight-digit threshold, the second-most-valuable car in the Royal Family's fleet isn't really a car. It's the Gold State Coach, which Matchbox recently released a 1/64-scale replica of, and its value is estimated at GBP1.6 million (about $2 million). At 275 inches long it's even bigger than the Bentley limousine and it weighs about 9,000 pounds. It's 261 years old and designed to be pulled by eight horses, and has been part of every coronation since 1831. The rest of the Royal Family's vehicles are relatively mundane. There's a 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Volante that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Phillip, bought for King Charles III on his 21st birthday. It's worth GBP1 million (about $1.2 million). The collection also includes a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI (about $627,000), a Bentley Bentayga (about $201,000), a Land Rover Range Rover long-wheelbase Landaulet ($133,000), a Jaguar XE (about $41,000), and a Land Rover Defender ($38,000). "Luxury cars have long been associated with the monarch and King Charles III, in particular, is known for his fondness of motor vehicles. His impressive collection features sentimental value with motors passed down from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to cars bought for him by his parents," explained Keith Hawes, the director of Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, in an interview with CBS News. Being at the head of a car-making nation's royal family also comes with drawbacks: Every vehicle in King Charles III's fleet is British.
