2002 Land Rover Discovery Series Ii Se Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l Rebuilt Engine on 2040-cars
Studio City, California, United States
THIS CAR HAS A *REBUILT ENGINE* WITH 9000 MILES ON IT. I am the second owner. I bought my Discovery in 2004 used from Terry York Land Rover in Encino, California. It had 28,000 miles on it. It was a certified preowned car. This car was under warranty and I bought a additional extended warranty until 2008. I say this so you understand that every little thing was fixed by a Land Rover dealer. I have performed all of the Land Rover scheduled maintenance at Terry York Land Rover, including the 85,000 mile maintenance that cost $1800.00 This car has never been in a accident. The steering does not pull left or right. There are no dings or dents in the paint or body. I only use Chevron high octane gasoline. No one has ever smoked in this car. No children or animals have been in here marking things up or leaving dog hair. I have tried to keep the interior as clean and scuff mark clean as possible. The rear cargo area has some minor marks. The rear seats have no marks as I hardly had any passengers. The insides of the doors are clean, the dashboard has no marks or tears. All the power windows, mirrors and seats work. The power dual moon roofs work. The tires are few years old and have good tread remaining. The front right tire has a crack in the side wall and that tire should be replaced. The air conditioning and heater works. There is a spare tire kit. The spare tire is new. There is a black vinyl Land Rover spare tire cover. 9000 miles ago I had a rebuilt engine put in. The total cost of the engine rebuild was $8000.00. This was done in January of 2012. I have only driven 9000 since then. The radiator was replaced in 2011. The front drive shaft was replaced in 2008. A new battery in 2013. My car has the 12 speaker premium Bose sound system with a 6 disk CD changer. I installed a iPhone 4 cradle (not for iPhone 5) with a blue tooth interface to the FM radio, a XM Satellite Radio and a Tom Tom GPS which sits in a cradle. If you want I can remove any of this stuff and return the console back to stock. The reason I am selling is because I am leaving the country for work, and I cannot take the car with me. My original plan was to keep the car for 5 more years but my employer wants me to go overseas. Known problems: Needs new brake pads. Known minor interior cosmetic issues: SEE PHOTOS Passenger seat leather has some minor scratches, no tears. Drivers seat leather has some minor scratches, no tears. Slight discoloration of the steering wheel in a few places. Leather boot on parking break is flaking. Plastic is cracked at base of center console in the rear, at the bottom read the floor. Slight scuff marks on the left rear storage compartment. I drilled some very small holes in the right rear storage compartment. The plastic cover over the dashboard instruments is loose. The remote entry key button does not work. Known minor exterior cosmetic issues: The black trim over the tire wheel wells is faded in some places. (see photos) Very minor scratches round the door handles. The left rear plastic bumper trim piece is slightly lose and just needs to be pops back on. The paint is great but has some very slight weathering in some areas. This is very slight. |

Jaguar Land Rover to cut output and jobs due to Brexit, diesel slump
Fri, Apr 13 2018LONDON — Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover will cut around 1,000 jobs and production at two of its English factories due to a fall in sales caused by uncertainty around Brexit and confusion over diesel policy, a source told Reuters. Output will be cut at its central English Solihull and Castle Bromwich plants, affecting some 1,000 agency workers, the source said. A spokesman at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) declined to comment on the number of jobs which would be lost but the firm said it would be making changes to its output plans. "In light of the continuing headwinds impacting the car industry, we are making some adjustments to our production schedules and the level of agency staff," the company said in a statement. It is not renewing the contracts of a number of agency staff at the Solihull site and would be informing staff on Monday of its plans for the 2018-19 financial year. In January, the firm said it would temporarily reduce production at its other British plant of Halewood later this year in response to weakening demand due to Brexit and tax hikes on diesel cars but did not detail any job losses. Jaguar sales are down 26 percent so far this year whilst Land Rover demand dropped 20 percent in its home market as buyers shun diesel, concerned over planned tax rises and possible bans and restrictions in several countries. "It's been obvious to everyone that sales have been dropping," the source said. British new car registrations have been falling for a year which the car industry body has partly blamed on weakening consumer confidence in the wake of the Brexit vote, after record demand in 2015 and 2016. Average new-vehicle transaction price hits a whopping new peak in December
Wed, Jan 11 2023Elevated prices for products and higher borrowing rates led to record high transaction prices for new vehicles in December, with the average cost in the U.S. rising to a record $49,507, according to data from Kelley Blue Book released today. The report notes that ATPs — average transaction prices — have climbed above suggested retail prices — MSRPs — for more than a year. Sales volumes were up in December on a year-over-year basis by more than 5%, a situation Kelley attributed to improved supply. Overall sales for 2022, however, were off 8% year over year. “The transaction data from December clearly indicates overall prices showed no signs of coming down as we headed into year-end,” said Rebecca Rydzewski, research manager of economic and industry insights for Cox Automotive. “Luxury prices fell slightly in December, but non-luxury transaction prices were up. Truck sales were particularly strong last month, and with many trucks selling for more than $60,000, a new record was all but inevitable.” Industry analysts claim the most obvious headwinds in the new car market are generated by higher interest rates, forced by the Federal Reserve's rate hikes intended to tame inflation, and by generally limited inventory. A recent report from J.D. Power showed that the average monthly payment for a new vehicle loan in December was $718, up $47 from a year ago. But 16% of consumers in December took out loans with monthly payments of over $1,000. Consumers think vehicles, and electric vehicles especially, are way too expensive. Fortunately, manufacturersÂ’ incentives, all but extinct in the past two years, are returning, especially in the electric-vehicle and luxury market, the Kelley data suggest. Plus, "With the new tax credits on the way, electric vehicle ATPs will drop lower for qualifying vehicles,” Rydzewski said. Non-luxury brands, such as Honda and Kia, showed particularly strong performance in December, with the average price paid at $45,578 — a record high and an increase of $994 month over month. Meanwhile, the average luxury buyer paid $66,660 for a new vehicle last month. Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover showed the most price strength in the luxury market, transacting between 2.6% to 6.5% over sticker price. But luxury brands Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln, and Volvo showed the least price strength with some discounting in effect, selling 1% or more below MSRP in December, according to the survey.
Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"
Mon, 03 Dec 2012The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
