Welcome to a great opportunity. You are viewing a very nice, one-owner and exclusively Florida-kept "Go-anywhere, Do anything" and "Look good while doing it" 2001 Land Rover Discovery SD Luxury 4-wheel Drive SUV. This Land Rover has it all! Aggressive good looks, unparalleled performance and extreme luxury. This Land Rover is sexy, rugged, and clean, making you want to throw out that annoying mini-van, or family station wagon. Did we mention that all these flattering comments still represent the Ultimate Off-Road 4x4 SUV, by which all others are compared?

You will quickly become the favorite Soccer Mom at your daughter's high school! Certainly one of the most desirable color combinations for the Off-Road Utility Vehicle--Alpine White exterior compliments the Light Beige leather interior nicely, and this Land Rover is fully loaded with power options, having you comfortable and warm, while you are pulling your friends out of a ditch on the dirt trail, or a snow bank in the middle of winter.

Of course, it is equipped with a full 10,000 rear towing capacity (when optional hitch installed)....whether on Safari, or just a Safari to your local grocery store, this SUV is all work, and all play! And both the exterior and interior are in very good condition. Free of any dents or parking lot door dings, the factory finish is brilliant. The interior is extra-clean, free of any rips or tears and this vehicle was owned by a non-smoker. Factory tinted windows round out this aggressive look and have kept the rich, light-colored interior cool and free from the sun's harmful rays. Completely loaded with full power options, including high-power audio system, 10-way adjustable power seats, factory aluminum alloy wheels, ice cold air conditioning, power windows and door locks, cruise control and factory security system.

While looking great is fine, all that appearance means nothing if it doesn't drive and perform well. And this LR Discovery runs and drives great. The Land Rover Discovery is the benchmark all other SUVs strive to meet. With exceptional power, towing and handling, this SUV can handle anything thrown at it. Outstanding craftsmanship and artisanal refinements abound with this 4.0 liter V-8 Discovery. With only 116,467 original South Florida miles, it is just getting broken in. Actually, its been a Florida vehicle since 2001....a Pompano Beach vehicle since new! And with only 116,000 original miles, (that's less than 8,500 miles per year folks)--Florida ownership makes a difference. Believe me, it makes a BIG difference! No harsh weather, no harsh roads, no potholes, no hills, no salt, no snow, etc...you should be getting the picture. Everything works properly, and we have just serviced this vehicle. Fresh factory oil change, new filters, new interior cabin filters and wheel balancing, brand new Interstate Battery, new windshield wipers, etc. this Discovery is ready for a long road trip--on, or off, the road.  Speaking of which, it has a complete set of nearly new (less than 800 miles on them) All-Terrain radials all the way around. Great look, great performance with these tires, for any driving condition, Wet, or Dry....or Snow!

This is a great driving, outstanding performing All-Wheel Drive SUV that is very clean and ready for a new home. The 4x4 system works perfectly and the Low Range will make you feel like you can pull a house off its foundation. A lot of torque, and a ton of power. It is obvious that it was maintained well, and regularly, We are offering This 2001 Land Rover Discovery SD to our eBay clientele for 7 days with No Reserve, that right, the highest, lucky bidder gets it. Clean interior, perfect seating areas and headliner, and a pleasure to drive. The center console has a bit of wear, but we are having it dyed this week to factory color and specs. This vehicle has never been smoked in. Neither the cigarette lighter nor the ashtray have ever been used. Truly in excellent condition for its age. The factory aluminum/alloy wheels look great and this LR has both front and rear rock guards as well as off-road roof rack and rear step ladder. The Safari Rack does have some corrosion beginning to flake the paint, but that can easily be touched-up with flat black paint. Of course, the rear spare tire is like new and has never been used, or been on the ground. But its great to have a full-size spare, ready for work when your out on the Trail! Imagine all the fun you will have with this sexy and elegant vehicle--on road, or off, while still driving one of the safest vehicles on the road today.

We can certainly assist with vehicle transport within the Continental US, and of course, free airport pick-up is available from Jacksonville International Airport. We list our vehicles to sell, and many sell with just a simple phone call to our sales associate. Don't miss out on this one. This is a clean, one-owner Land Rover Discovery SD Series II that has been this well maintained and drives this great.....I mean really, really great! It has both a Crystal Clean CarFax and AutoCheck report. Absolutely no accidents or title problems of any kind. Just a nice SUV with a clean, clean history. AutoCheck rates the Land Rover Discovery's for sale in the US with scores between 30-52. Ours scored an Ultra-impressive 72! How's that for peace of mind!

Environmental group accuses BMW, JLR of link to deforestation in Paraguay

Wed, Sep 30 2020

ASUNCION, Paraguay — Environmental group Earthsight said on Wednesday it has linked some of Europe's largest carmakers to the deforestation of the Chaco, a dry forest region of Paraguay home to jaguars and one of the last uncontacted indigenous groups in the world. The group said in a report that livestock companies have illegally logged lands of the Ayoreo Totobiegosode indigenous ethnic group, some of whose members live in voluntary isolation. The livestock skin is used in leather upholstery of luxury vehicles sold by high-end European auto brands including BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover, the group said. UK-based Earthsight said it had made covert visits to tanneries that bragged about supplying the raw material to the luxury car brands. "BMW is using hides sourced from two slaughterhouses processing cows from ranches responsible for illegal [logging] in the Ayoreo Totobiegosode's forests. Jaguar Land Rover didn't dispute sourcing from a Paraguayan tannery that processes hides from another slaughterhouse doing the same," the report said. Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement to Reuters it had found no evidence to verify Earthsight's claims. It said its European suppliers assured sustainability. "We continue  our drive for further transparency and, in this case, the leather supplier in Europe verifies with each raw material supplier that no rural property that directly supplies it is involved in illegal deforestation," the automaker said. BMW did not respond to a request for comment on the Earthsight investigation. Paraguay exports about 50,000 tons of wet-blue leather (tanned, but not dried, dyed or finished) a year, and almost two-thirds of those shipments are bound for Europe, according to the report. Automakers say that leather is a byproduct of the far larger meat industry and high-end cars constitute a comparatively small market niche. But indigenous leaders say deforestation driven by growth in beef and leather exports is encroaching on their territory and destroying their way of life. "As deforestation advances with extensive cattle ranching, they are being imprisoned, they are disappearing," Taguide Picanerai, a spokesman for the Ayoreo community in the Alto Paraguay department, northwest of Asuncion, told Reuters. The region is home to some of the world's highest rates of deforestation, Earthsight said.   Green BMW Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover in talks for Southern US factory

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

Jaguar Land Rover is getting serious about global expansion, and that means it can't only build its vehicles in the UK anymore. The British automaker is cutting the ribbon at its new plant in China tomorrow, marking the opening of its first factory outside the UK. In 2016, it will open another factory in Brazil. But the latest intel has it that JLR is looking into a US factory, as well.
The report, which comes to us from the Sunday Times by way of Automotive News Europe, indicates that the company is evaluating locations for a North American factory, with options centering around Southern right-to-work states like South Carolina, where BMW operates its plant in Spartanburg and a wide array of other automotive operations are based as well. The JLR plant would reportedly ramp up to a capacity of 200,000 units per year.
In related news, while that new plant JLR is inaugurating in Changshu, China, is initially slated to produce the Range Rover Evoque, it is also expected to start building the new Discovery Sport as well - just like the Halewood plant in the UK that has handled Evoque assembly from the start and which just built its first Discovery Sport, as well.

Queen Elizabeth II was a longtime automotive enthusiast

Sun, Sep 11 2022

Since driver's licenses, license plates, and passports were issued in her own name, Queen Elizabeth II didn't need them to drive and travel. She started combining the two just before she turned 19, joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) transport division in 1945 for vehicle mechanic training. She wanted to help the British effort during World War II and would drive an ambulance — one that, theoretically, she could also fix if it broke down. The war ended before she graduated as an Honorary Junior Commander, the other ATS members dubbing her Princess Auto Mechanic. We donÂ’t know if she got under the hoods of the many official state vehicles and the far more numerous unofficial fleet in the royal garages, but she was still driving herself around England as late as this year. Here is a tiny selection of royal conveyances used during her 70-year reign. Gold State Coach (1762) True, she never drove this one, but a tour of every royal garage should start with the coach. King George III commissioned Samuel Butler to build it in 1760. Butler spent two years on the gilded carriage 24 feet long and more than 12 feet high. The quarters are suspended from the frame by leather straps, so occupants get tossed about even during a slow stroll, which is as fast as the eight Windsor Gray horses can pull it. It wasnÂ’t until the 1900s that King George VI rubberized the wooden wheels. Word is the queen didnÂ’t like it.   1953 Land Rover Series 1 Land Rover gave Queen ElizabethÂ’s father, King George VI, the 100th example of the 80 Series off the line in 1948. She picked up the Landie habit for herself five years later, when a 1953 Series 1 with a custom 86-inch wheelbase was part of the fleet used for her six-month tour of the Commonwealth in 1953 and 1954. That Land Rover became Ceremonial Vehicle State IV. The models above were built in Australia in 1958 as near copies of the Commonwealth tour vehicle, when Australia decided it wanted six identical versions for royal service. ItÂ’s thought the royal family went through around 30 Land Rover Series cars and Defenders since then, and many of the most common photos of her have her posing in or near one, especially the 2002 Defender built just for her. The royal family isnÂ’t finished with them, either: A current Defender 110 served as a luggage hauler for family members headed to Balmoral Castle during the queenÂ’s final days.
