2000 Land Rover Discovery Series Ii Sport Utility 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars

Year:2000 Mileage:109850
Location:

Orlando, Florida, United States

I bought this navy blue Discovery in Orlando, FL. with 26,000 miles on it over 10 years ago. It currently has 109,850 miles, but the engine has only 62,000 (see details below). It has been upgraded substantially during the time that I have had it. You will see below that I have WAY over spent on this truck, but it was intentional and has always been a hobby that I enjoy and I am well aware of the value and following of these vehicles having owned 2 of them in a row since 1999.

Factory options: 5 disc CD changer, dual sunroofs, 18" alloy Hurricane wheels, automatic transmission, all time 4-wheel drive, ice cold A/C, full leather interior with power seats, keyless entry, roof rails, fog lamps, rear wiper, cargo bins, multiple 12V ports and original Land Rover owners manual, tool kit, tool kit bag & wheel lock case.

Upgrades: Installed a 4.6 liter V8 with 62,000 miles from a 2004 Discovery ($5,000) by C&H Land Rover specialists in Orlando, FL., Brush guard with dual Hella lamps ($900), 2-1/2" Old Man Emu lift kit and brand new shocks ($850), 32" Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires ($1,250), LR wheel lock kit ($145), heated seat kit ($179), rear hydraulic step ($129), 3M arctic blue camouflage body wrap on roof ($650), LR rubber floor and cargo mats ($300), new window tint ($200), tow package wiring harness ($100).

Recent work: new brakes, new hood latch assembly, new full rain gutter system replacement, new A-pillar cover replacement on drivers side, new B-pillar covers replaced on both sides, new headliner and sunroof replacement (plus clean out of roof drains), recent oil & filter change, rotate & balance of tires, new wheel alignment, new steering wheel horn buttons, new wiper blades, new LR center hub caps, new LR key fob for keyless entry (also have hard key spare) and new driver side window regulator. All of the items listed here have completed within the last year with costs exceeding $3,000.

Work needs: The steering wheel has some wear at the 12 o'clock position and the steering wheel volume control button needs to be replaced. There is a split in the passenger side front leather seat that is along a seam, and another split that is not. The paint has some minor fade on the drivers side door sills, but I was told by a local paint shop it can be buffed back

The truck has been used as a 3rd car for all of its life. The overall condition of the truck is very good, with the mechanicals being considered excellent and no accidents. ALL repairs have always been completed with genuine OEM Land Rover parts. It's a unique vehicle and a real head turner when driving...lots of pics taken at red lights. Contact me with any questions.

Tata to get Jaguar and Land Rover tech, platforms too?

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Since buying Jaguar Land Rover, Indian automaker Tata has generally left its luxury arm's platforms and technology alone. However, those days might be gone. The two of them are gradually growing closer with coordinated development and rumors of shared platforms. And it looks like all of that work and money is finally going to pay off with an actual vehicle in the near future.
According to Australian website Drive, Tata wants to make its cars more attractive to buyers outside of India, and to do that the company knows it must improve quality. The Indian company is being careful, though, because it doesn't want to dilute the Jaguar or Land Rover brands with cheap models. "You're going to see in the future a lot of sharing of technologies and platforms over time, but you won't see a JLR with a Tata badge on it," said Darren Bowler, managing director of Tata's Australian distributor, to Drive.
According to Bowler, these future vehicles are already on the way. Tata and JLR have a global platform in the works for 2017 that both companies could use for cars or crossovers. He also hinted that Jaguar's new Ingenium engines could be shared among the brands in the future, too.

Jaguar Land Rover gives Lyft $25M and a fleet of cars

Mon, Jun 12 2017

Lyft recently raised $600 million in a massive funding round, and now we know that $25 million of that came from Jaguar Land Rover, via its mobility services subsidiary InMotion. The car maker's investment in Lyft goes beyond just funds, however; it's providing Lyft drivers with a fleet of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles as part of the tie-up, and it's also going to work with the ride-hailing tech company on autonomous vehicle testing. This is yet another high-profile partner for Lyft after a spate of recent new collaborators, including Waymo and, just last week, Nutonomy. Now, Jaguar Land Rover is also joining the company's Open Platform for autonomous cars: The collaboration with InMotion will see the Jaguar Land Rover-owned company "develop and test its mobility services, including autonomous vehicles" using Lyft's platform. Lyft's ability to rapidly bring on a lot of partners in the car maker space, specifically around autonomy, may have a lot to do with rival Uber's ongoing problems, which now also include mounting calls for CEO Travis Kalanick to step back, at least temporarily, from his leadership role. Lyft has also been pretty clear about seeking to partner on autonomy, rather than pursue its own tech, which is likewise different from Uber's current approach. Uber, too, has brought automakers to the table around self-driving services and making use of its ride hailing platform for mobility service offerings. Both Uber and Lyft seem interested in being the layer that connects riders and these future services, and for automakers, it means leaving a complex and challenging part of the picture to partners with experience and expertise, rather than having to spin up that part of the tech business themselves. The fleet provision in the deal is also interesting, and suggests the partnership between the two could involve more strategic cooperative service offerings ahead of the advent of commercial self-driving tech. Lyft gaining more ground among automakers beyond longtime partner GM also explains why it was reported that the ride hailing company turned down overtures regarding a potential acquisition by the Detroit-based automaker.Written by Darrell Etherington for TechCrunch.Related Video:

Jaguar Land Rover names ousted Renault boss as new CEO

Tue, Jul 28 2020

LONDON — Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has picked ousted Renault boss Thierry Bollore as its next chief executive, with a mission to return Britain's biggest carmaker to profit after a big hit from the COVID-19 pandemic. Bollore took over at Renault in January 2019 after the fall of Carlos Ghosn, but was always viewed as close to the French carmaker's longtime boss and was pushed out in October when the company was looking for a fresh start. Bollore will take over at JLR on Sept. 10, replacing Ralf Speth, whose tenure ends after more than 10 years. "It will be my privilege to lead this fantastic company through what continues to be the most testing time of our generation," Bollore said in a statement on Tuesday. JLR was hit this year first by disruption to sales in China and then by lockdowns across Europe and North America as the COVID-19 outbreak spread around the globe. In 2019, it cut jobs to address tumbling diesel sales, which helped it return to profit. But as the pandemic struck, it slumped to a pretax loss of 422 million pounds ($545 million) for the year ended March 31, 2020. The company has already taken steps to tackle the crisis, including agreeing to a loan facility of around $700 million with lenders in China and further staff reductions. JLR is also in talks with the British government over potential support, according to media reports. Bollore takes over a business that built just over 500,000 cars in 2019/20. He faces a number of tasks, including how to handle the Jaguar brand, which underperforms the Land Rover marque, how quickly to electrify its lineup and a potential hit from Brexit if trade barriers are imposed. JLR has a partnership with BMW on electrification, and parent company Tata Motors recently recommitted to the company. "Tata Group recognizes and values Jaguar Land Rover's future potential highly," said JLR Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran earlier this month. "That is why this company is central to our global automotive presence – a presence that we intend to develop for years to come."
