 Hi everyone,
I'm selling my beautiful 1998 Land Rover Discovery that has been incredibly well cared for and is ready for a new home!  I can not stress enough HOW NICE THIS TRUCK DRIVES.  ITs one of the nicest driving Disco's I have ever driven. This is the LSE/Disco you have been waiting for!
Painted in one of the best Land Rover colors, Epsom Green, and paired with the Lightstone interior, this is a phenomenal color combination.   And on top of that its an LSE: Chrome bumpers (in great shape!), body colored bumper end caps, Land Rover OEM Boost wheels, tri-color Lightstone interior, color matched rear view mirrors, leather shifter, wood center console and color coded grill were all part of the HIGHLY desirable LSE package.

Let me review the truck in full

Engine
Brand New:
-Headgaskets.  Truck has never overheated, but was done as preventive maintenance as well as a full cooling system service.  Say goodbye to a job that could cost you $3000 or more and sleep well knowing you have easily another 100k+ carefree miles from new headgaskets and cooling components!
-Headgasket bolts (done the right way - they stretch over time!)
-Rebuilt and cleaned heads
-Exhaust manifold gaskets
-Intake manifold gaskets
-Upper intake assembly gaskets
-Water pump
-Thermostat
-Rodded and cleaned radiator
-Spark plugs
-Oil, Antifreeze and Trans fluid

Newer:
-Fan clutch
-Battery
-Plug wires
-Fuel pump

Drivetrain and Suspension

Brand New:
-Swivel ball service

Newer:
-Brakes, a few thousand miles only

This truck drives nice and quiet and has nice tight steering!  Brakes great too!

Exterior:
-I give the exterior a 9-/10! It has a few minor cosmetic flaws, but virtually nothing worth mentioning.  Just minor inclusions that are well below average in number of any used typical used car.  Ie very minor scratches or only seen at certain angles up close etc.  Pics speak for themselves!!
-Boost Wheels are in great shape and worth $$$!!  So many times you see LSE missing them because people sell them off to make some money.  And even the spare is a Boost wheel!
-Chrome bumpers are in very nice shape!

Interior:
-I give the interior a 9-/10 again!  A few minor cosmetic flaws, or light wear and tear.  Hard to find them this nice in my humble opinion!
-COLD AC!
-HOT heat!
-All of the power seats work perfect (when is the last time you drove a Rover that had that??!!!)
-Kenwood CD player with AUX jack!
-Rear Entertainment System!  DVD player with SD card and USB inputs!  Rear drop down screen works great!  All three systems (Radio, DVD and Screen) come with remotes!
-Dual sunroofs and the sun shades are intact and not broken!
-Console is in nice shape, the lid leather is very nice and the kid is not loose or broken.
-OEM Lightstone carpet are a nice rare find and are in relatively nice shape too.
-All wood is nice, little minor chip near the power window switches.

Miscellaneous:
-For those of you in CA, the truck has good registration until March 2014!

Feel free to ask me any questions!  This is a great truck I hate to see go!!  Happy bidding!!!

Who picks car colors and materials? Designers like Hannah Custance

Tue, Dec 21 2021

As automotive journalists, we're often asked "how did you get that job?" People usually didn't even know you could do such a thing. In this 7 Questions series, we're highlighting other jobs in the automotive industry that you might not have heard about before. What do they do, how'd they get to do it and other questions about their particular corner of the car world. Slowly but surely, the automotive landscape is becoming more colorful. Look beyond the unrelentingly conservative palette of white, black and gray most buyers opt for and you'll see the increased use of exterior trim types beyond the usual chrome. There's gloss black, of course, but also other metallic finishes like gold or copper. Those can be found inside, too, where there's also an increase in colorful leathers and trims, innovative fabrics, new wood types and finishes, and greater creativity in general. So where is this change coming from? The answer is designers like Hannah Custance, the color and materials design manager for Jaguar Land Rover. Her team's latest effort is also its magnum opus, the 2022 Range Rover. Although saddled with the expectations that comes with one of the automotive industry's classic nameplates, the all-new Range Rover is also a celebration of cutting edge manufacturing and fashion-forward materials selection. We sat down with Hannah at the L.A. Auto Show to find out more about color and materials designers, how she ended up in the industry, and advice she might have for young designers out there. It has been condensed for brevity. Autoblog: What does a color and materials design manager to do?Hannah Custance: I basically look after a team of designers who design finishes for every A surface on the car. So, that could be exterior finishes. It could be interior trim materials, soft materials, hard materials, chromes, metals, woods, ceramic – that's one of the new ones – anything you can kind of touch and see is color material design. Autoblog: How early in the design process does your team become involved.Hannah: Right at the very start. In fact, we look at materials that don't have a product assigned to them or a car assigned to them. So, it takes actually a very long time for us to get materials approved and fully validated. We have to find suppliers that are willing to work in automotive and our test standards are incredibly high, some of the highest in the industry.

Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.

Land Rover Defender V8, next Range Rover, new BMW M3 share the Nurburgring

Thu, Jul 23 2020

From open-track days to 24-hour races, so many events are held on Germany's Nurburgring track that carmakers need to share the tarmac with their rivals to put new models through their paces. Industry pool days are normally closed to the public, but a seven-minute video reveals what Land Rover, BMW, and several others are testing. Posted on YouTube by StatesideSupercars, the video shows prototypes racing around the track in the mid-summer heat. Land Rover's engineers are busy putting the final touches on the V8-powered variant of the new Defender, which our spies have previously spotted testing in its home country of England, and they're developing what looks like the high-performance, SVR-badged version of the next-generation Range Rover due out in 2020. As we reported earlier in 2020, the hot-rodded Defender packs a 5.0-liter V8 between its fenders, though its horsepower and torque outputs remain under wraps. Unverified rumors claim it will arrive as a limited-edition model to avoid sending Land Rover's fleet-wide CO2 emissions through the roof. And, the video confirms chassis engineers have made extensive modifications to the SUV's suspension, partly to keep body roll in check. Walking down the pits, members of BMW's testing team are getting up early to put track miles on an enigmatic variant of the face-lifted M5, and on the next-generation M3. We've already seen the M5 in the metal, so why is it still camouflaged? One possible answer is that we're looking at the rumored CS version, which should receive a 641-horsepower V8 thanks to software tweaks and a better cooling system. The simpler (and more boring) possibility is that BMW isn't quite done testing the M5, and it doesn't want to waste time removing the black and white wrap. Your author regularly spotted i8 prototypes in full camouflage regalia months after its debut. As for the M3, much has already been said about its mammoth grille, which seemingly mirrors the one worn by the new 4 Series. Autoblog drove a pre-production prototype in June and walked away impressed. It receives an evolution of the X3 M's 3.0-liter straight-six turbocharged to 473 horsepower, though selecting the optional Competition package will increase that figure to 503. And, fear not: The six-speed stick is coming back. Land Rover and BMW aren't the only companies playing on the 'Ring.
