EAST COAST DEFENDER PRESENTS

RETRO WHITE

3.5L V8

VIN: SALLDHMV8BA256697 eBay.com does not accept non US VIN

If you prefer the classic looks of the 110 then this is the one for you. East Coast Defender has restored this vehicle to its original glory, finished in white with the matching wheels, this looks as good as it would have leaving the factory over 27 years ago, in fact it probably looks better with the addition of the bespoke front bumper we have added.

The ride is comfortable and the engine is superb, I drove this the 250 mile trip back from the port to our showroom and loved every minute of it. It has a great presence on the road and the interior is super comfortable. Gearbox is excellent and hits every gear very smooth indeed. There is no problem keeping up with/taking on traffic in this one. I cruised home at about 70-75 with no problems at all.

As with all of our trucks, our UK team have spent hundreds of hours refurbishing, restoring, servicing and road testing this truck. The interior is original and very clean, some of the items covered by our UK workshop were;

  • Complete strip out and doors off and handles and lights out windows out etc. for full respray
  • All new door rubbers and lights
  • New carpet lining
  • Rebuilt gearbox
  • Mechanical check over
  • Custom made heavy duty stainless front bumper
  • Underside protective wax treatment
This really is a lovely example for someone who appreciates the classic looks, or maybe who wants to customize the interior to their own spec. The bones of this truck are superb. Keep it as is or make it your own, either way you are going to be one happy 110 owner! For more pictures please visit our East Coast Defender website. Below are a few quote from our happy customers...

"It was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations.  It is always unnerving to buy a car sight unseen, especially a rig that was imported from the UK, however your honesty and follow up made the process easy and reassuring"

"We are big fans of East Coast Defender and if we are ever in the market for a D90, you would be our first call"

"Thank you for being so gracious with my son and taking the time to prepare the instructional video.  Although your orientation at delivery was so thorough that we haven’t really needed it! From the quick responses to questions during our purchase, through to delivery, this has been a wonderful experience for the entire family.  We are sincerely grateful and look forward to may years of family fun with Big Blue."

"Tom and his family are wonderful people. What is described is what you will get. This transactions has been flawless, if you want a Defender, this is the place to get it! Period!"

"Great buying experience...I definitely recommend ECD!"

Jaguar CEO says people just don't want EVs right now

Mon, Jun 22 2015

"Customers are not impressed with it currently." These are the words of one Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, spoke at the Automotive News Europe Congress in Birmingham, England. The "it" Speth is referring to is battery technology, which he characterized as "too heavy, too expensive," and with power density that's "too low." That all could go some way towards explaining why the British automaker has yet to bring an electric vehicle to market, why it killed the C-X75 hybrid-turbine supercar project, and why it only recently started offering hybrid versions of its Range Rover models (and has yet to offer them in the United States). That doesn't mean the company won't pursue electric propulsion in the future, though. According to Automotive News Europe, Speth forecasts that "the next generation of batteries will be higher density, lower weight and the cost will come down." What he didn't say, exactly, is when he expects that next generation of battery tech to come around – or when JLR will start to more closely embrace electric propulsion. In the meantime, Jaguar Land Rover will continue investing in research and development. Since Tata acquired the brands from Ford seven years ago, JLR has quadrupled its R&D budget and doubled the number of engineers on staff. Related Video:

Jaguar Land Rover gives Lyft $25M and a fleet of cars

Mon, Jun 12 2017

Lyft recently raised $600 million in a massive funding round, and now we know that $25 million of that came from Jaguar Land Rover, via its mobility services subsidiary InMotion. The car maker's investment in Lyft goes beyond just funds, however; it's providing Lyft drivers with a fleet of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles as part of the tie-up, and it's also going to work with the ride-hailing tech company on autonomous vehicle testing. This is yet another high-profile partner for Lyft after a spate of recent new collaborators, including Waymo and, just last week, Nutonomy. Now, Jaguar Land Rover is also joining the company's Open Platform for autonomous cars: The collaboration with InMotion will see the Jaguar Land Rover-owned company "develop and test its mobility services, including autonomous vehicles" using Lyft's platform. Lyft's ability to rapidly bring on a lot of partners in the car maker space, specifically around autonomy, may have a lot to do with rival Uber's ongoing problems, which now also include mounting calls for CEO Travis Kalanick to step back, at least temporarily, from his leadership role. Lyft has also been pretty clear about seeking to partner on autonomy, rather than pursue its own tech, which is likewise different from Uber's current approach. Uber, too, has brought automakers to the table around self-driving services and making use of its ride hailing platform for mobility service offerings. Both Uber and Lyft seem interested in being the layer that connects riders and these future services, and for automakers, it means leaving a complex and challenging part of the picture to partners with experience and expertise, rather than having to spin up that part of the tech business themselves. The fleet provision in the deal is also interesting, and suggests the partnership between the two could involve more strategic cooperative service offerings ahead of the advent of commercial self-driving tech. Lyft gaining more ground among automakers beyond longtime partner GM also explains why it was reported that the ride hailing company turned down overtures regarding a potential acquisition by the Detroit-based automaker.Written by Darrell Etherington for TechCrunch.Related Video:

Jaguar Land Rover partners with Nvidia for vehicle electronics and software

Wed, Feb 16 2022

DETROIT — Luxury automaker Jaguar Land Rover and Silicon Valley artificial intelligence company Nvidia said Wednesday they will collaborate to develop the computer brains and nervous systems for Jaguars and Land Rovers launching in 2025 and beyond. The companies did not disclose financial terms of their multiyear agreement. The collaboration is a high-profile win for Nvidia Corp's effort to expand its reach in the auto industry, building on its base in gaming, artificial intelligence and high-powered chips and software used in servers. For Jaguar Land Rover Automotive, the partnership with Nvidia gives it a well-funded ally as it tries to catch up with Tesla and other luxury vehicle rivals in a digital technology arms race. "We can now accelerate our in-vehicle software," Francois Dossa, JLR's executive director for strategy, said during a conference call. Working with Nvidia engineers, Jaguar Land Rover plans to develop vehicles that can drive themselves under certain conditions, park autonomously and provide more information and software-powered features to drivers, the companies said. The new Jaguars will be upgradable — as Tesla vehicles are today. The automaker said it will use Nvidia technology to power simulations used to train autonomous vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover has a previous deal with Alphabet Inc's Waymo unit to deploy autonomous driving technology. Dossa said the Waymo collaboration was limited to the Jaguar I-PACE electric SUV. The Nvidia alliance covers all Jaguar and Land Rover models to be launched from 2025. Nvidia technology will act as the brains and the nervous system of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles starting in 2025, said Nvidia's vice president of automotive, Danny Shapiro. Nvidia last month announced deals with several Chinese electric vehicle brands. The company has said it has $8 billion in automotive business booked over the next six years. Shapiro said the company will update the figure during an investor day scheduled for March 22. Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of India's Tata Motors Ltd has been struggling with rising costs and semiconductor shortages. Jaguar Land Rover reported a narrow pretax profit for the quarter ended Dec. 31, but Tata Motors reported a larger quarterly loss than expected.
