Land Rover Defender 110 Soft Top - V8 Rover on 2040-cars
Middlebury, Connecticut, United States
This 1983 110 Defender 3 Door Soft Top Wagon was imported March 2012 from the UK. It had one owner in the UK and it was used as a people carrier rather than a workhorse around the owners country estate in Norfolk. The right hand drive has 93K KM which is about 58K miles. The body work has correct fit of all panels and the vehicle had a quality respray in England in Windjammer Blue. The paint carries a deep shine and looks great. There is no rot of the door bottoms, footwells, bulkhead corners and A posts and all metal is solid. The hood and seats are all in good order and tear free.
The underside looks very solid and clean and was pressure washed and thoroughly waxoiled then. The axles, propshafts and transmission are all tight and in good order. The overall condition is exceptional and it has been extensively refreshed and updated with all new filters, tires, plugs/wires, fuel pump, battery and brakes, etc.. Imported into North Carolina, it was used as a daily driver in the Virginia area before coming north to Connecticut where it resides at a lakeside home where it's used again as a people mover. The vehicle performs well, sounds healthy and has plenty of pull with its Rover V8. The LT95 4 speed gearbox shifts smoothly and the differential lock of high and low range and the transfer box all function correctly. A great investment which will only rise in value. Rarely do classic Land Rovers of this quality, condition and history come to market. Don't miss this opportunity, buy with confidence. No disappointments. Aston Martin DB10 spied in action on James Bond Spectre set
Tue, Feb 17 2015Spectre, the next film in the James Bond franchise, is due for release on November 6 of this year. That means there's filming happening right now all over Europe as scenes are stitched together, and one of them involves the Aston Martin DB10 shuffling through maneuvers at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England. Our guess is that Bond has become an unwelcome guest at a fancy event – there's a Porsche 959 and a Bugatti EB110 in the courtyard – which is why he is forced to make one of his quick-reversing escapes under fire. While that was being captured last week, the Spectre production crew put together another behind-the-scenes clip from filming in Austria, which gives us a look at the Range Rover Sport SVR and Land Rover Defender "Bigfoot" crushing it up some snowy mountain passes. That clip is below. Yes, we're excited. Jaguar Land Rover opening its first U.S.-based classic center in Georgia
Sun, Aug 19 2018Jaguar Land Rover Classic currently operates two of its Works Centres, one in Coventry, England and the other in Essen-Kettwig, Germany (pictured). Just in time for Pebble Beach, the English carmaker has announced that it will bring its first facility to the United States next year, having signed a deal to open the latest Works operation in Savannah, Georgia. To be located in the Crossroads Business Park near Gulfstream Aerospace, the facility will engage in the sales, service, and restoration of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles out of production for at least ten years. The 150,000-square-foot Coventry site opened two years ago and is said to be the largest dedicated factory workshop of its kind (the largest unaffiliated shop is in the Philippines). Jaguar builds its continuation cars there, like the D-Type and XKSS, while Land Rover uses it to build the Defender Works V8. Shoppers can also buy vintage models off the showroom floor, a variation of the Certified Pre-Owned program called Works Legends, that come with a 12-month warranty. Or, Jaguar Land Rover will locate, restore, and maintain one of the classic company products that a buyer chooses. In the UK, a Land Rover Series 1 starts at around $90,000, a Jaguar E-Type starts at around $400,000. The 48,000 Essen-Kettwig center opened last year with the same brief, and the U.S. center can provide those services to the world's largest classic car market. Construction on the 75,000-square-foot complex is scheduled to begin next August, and the facility will include a 42-bay workshop and showroom. The automaker will invest from $10 to $15 million, and predicts more than $45 million in revenue. Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison told The Savannah Morning News that JLR will hire 75 workers at a starting salary of $80,000.
