1997 Land Rover Defender 90 Base Sport Utility 2-door 4.0l Automatic on 2040-cars
Monument, Colorado, United States
1997 Land Rover Defender 90 - 4.0 Liter V8 Automatic 68,000 miles (mileage is actual at 67,950 currently but i will continue to drive until sold)
I purchased this beast about 3 months ago and have always wanted one and frankly don't want to get rid of it but we need something a tad bigger for somethings that have transpired. This is not a distress sale and I would love to keep it but hard to justify having a $50k SUV as a 3rd car...I could justify it but my finance director says no! :)...With this said, the vehicle is great around town and highway driving. Will run down the highway at 90 and will go anywhere! Full time 4WD and locking diff affords the new owner with pulling a house down or going just about anywhere. I have only put about 2000 miles on it and I believe I am the 3rd owner (pretty sure from what I found). Any puddles you see in pics are from me washing prior to picture taking. Few leaks here and there but nothing out of the ordinary for this vehicle. Replaced the front steering damper when I purchased because the steering was a bit sloppy and had a compete run through performed. Had an oil change completed and went on my way. It does have about a 3 inch crack in windshield and with a full price purchase I will replace windshield...love Colorado weather! This is not a concours Defender but it IS an everyday get in and drive it vehicle that will turn heads anywhere you go. So, with that said this is a dying bread of vehicle. Only about 5000 have survived their import into the states between 94, 95 and 97! And, the new Land Rover has announced that after 2015 the Defender 90 will NO longer be produced. Items that differentiate this Defender from the others around: -Factory installed removable hard top - These tops were installed when the Rover hit port. Came over as a soft top and hit the market as a removable hard top -Rovers North soft top ($2199) -Factory air conditioning -Heated seats -Kenwood stereo w/ bluetooth and ipod usb connection -Rear bench seat -Biometric safe bolted in -Front large Hella driving lights -Rear utility lights -Extra wheel caps -BF Goodrich with 85-90% left SHIPPING WILL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF BUYER. I will make every effort to coordinate with the pickup provider. For reference I did finance the vehicle but my local credit union has assured me that they can turnaround the title upon the check/money clearing. With this said if you are looking to finance look to your local credit union they were great to work with and valued the vehicle appropriately to be able to finance. If you are local or want to come see it before you buy it...email me and I will be glad to show it. I am willing to discuss the price for reasonable fair offers. I have priced it fair and reasonable and would expect your offer to be the same. Thank you for looking and I will not deal overseas nor for your son who is on a oil rig in Dubai...no misleading here and I will expect the same from who I do business with as well. Let me know if you have any questions. Joe |

Jaguar Land Rover CEO: Wrong Brexit deal will cost thousands of UK jobs
Tue, Sep 11 2018BIRMINGHAM, England — The wrong Brexit deal could cost tens of thousands of jobs, the boss of Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover warned on Tuesday, saying he had no idea whether his plants would be able to operate after Britain leaves the European Union next year. Ralf Speth also said that the company would not be able to build cars if customs checks meant that the motorway to and from the southern English port of Dover, which is used to transport components, becomes a "car park" due to snarl-ups of people no longer able to move freely among EU countries. Speth made the warning at a conference in Birmingham, central England, speaking shortly before Prime Minister Theresa May, who is battling to have her so-called Chequers Brexit plan accepted by many in her Conservative Party as well as the EU ahead of Britain's departure from the bloc on March 29. "A thousand (jobs were) lost as a result of diesel policy, and those numbers will be counted in the tens of thousands if we do not get the right Brexit deal," warned Speth, referring to redundancies made earlier this year at the firm. "Currently I do not even know if any of our manufacturing facilities in the UK will be able to function on the 30th," he said. The boss of JLR, which built nearly a third of Britain's cars last year, also said long-standing issues around low productivity in Britain could be compounded by a Brexit agreement which made the country less competitive. "It is thousands of pounds cheaper to produce vehicles for instance in Eastern Europe than in Solihull, and what decisions will I be forced to make if Brexit means not merely that costs go up but that we cannot physically build cars on time and on budget in the UK?" he said.Reporting by Costas Pitas
Jaguar Land Rover gives Lyft $25M and a fleet of cars
Mon, Jun 12 2017Lyft recently raised $600 million in a massive funding round, and now we know that $25 million of that came from Jaguar Land Rover, via its mobility services subsidiary InMotion. The car maker's investment in Lyft goes beyond just funds, however; it's providing Lyft drivers with a fleet of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles as part of the tie-up, and it's also going to work with the ride-hailing tech company on autonomous vehicle testing. This is yet another high-profile partner for Lyft after a spate of recent new collaborators, including Waymo and, just last week, Nutonomy. Now, Jaguar Land Rover is also joining the company's Open Platform for autonomous cars: The collaboration with InMotion will see the Jaguar Land Rover-owned company "develop and test its mobility services, including autonomous vehicles" using Lyft's platform. Lyft's ability to rapidly bring on a lot of partners in the car maker space, specifically around autonomy, may have a lot to do with rival Uber's ongoing problems, which now also include mounting calls for CEO Travis Kalanick to step back, at least temporarily, from his leadership role. Lyft has also been pretty clear about seeking to partner on autonomy, rather than pursue its own tech, which is likewise different from Uber's current approach. Uber, too, has brought automakers to the table around self-driving services and making use of its ride hailing platform for mobility service offerings. Both Uber and Lyft seem interested in being the layer that connects riders and these future services, and for automakers, it means leaving a complex and challenging part of the picture to partners with experience and expertise, rather than having to spin up that part of the tech business themselves. The fleet provision in the deal is also interesting, and suggests the partnership between the two could involve more strategic cooperative service offerings ahead of the advent of commercial self-driving tech. Lyft gaining more ground among automakers beyond longtime partner GM also explains why it was reported that the ride hailing company turned down overtures regarding a potential acquisition by the Detroit-based automaker.Written by Darrell Etherington for TechCrunch.Related Video:
Jaguar Land Rover to skip 2016 Detroit Auto Show
Mon, Nov 23 2015Jaguar Land Rover won't attend the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in January because the automaker will shift its focus to other international shows instead, the company confirmed to Autoblog. "Following a review of our global consumer engagement program, the decision has been made not to exhibit at the Detroit show in 2016," said a company spokesperson told Autoblog. The story was first reported by Automotive News. JLR will continue to attend other US auto shows in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles; plus those abroad in Geneva, Frankfurt, Paris, Beijing, and Shanghai. "We recognize that the Detroit show is a world-class Tier 1 auto show, however, we have had to make this decision to sharpen our focus as indicated," the spokesperson said. Detroit Auto Show PR Manager Max Muncey told Autoblog that the organizers already knew JLR wouldn't be there. "We are in discussions with other automakers to fill that spot," he said about using the open space. The show expects 70 percent of the floor plan in 2016 to be different from last year. The automaker used the 2015 Detroit Auto Show to announce diesel versions for several models, and it revealed the name for the Jaguar F-Pace there. JLR reportedly now has a plan to cut the equivalent of $6.8 billion in costs without firing workers and increase production to a million annual deliveries by the end of the decade. Related Video:
