1997 Defender 90 - Gorgeous, Highly Maintained, Low Miles, Automatic With Ac on 2040-cars
Castle Rock, Colorado, United States
This is an absolutely gorgeous and highly maintained 1997 Defender 90 #201. It is garaged and has seen the highest level of care and maintenance from Land Rover Flat Irons and British 4X4. The truck was completely rebuilt due to a hailstorm here in Colorado with factory new parts down to every individual rivet and hand crafted by SVE Autobody in Broomfield, CO who are famous for their Land Rover and specifically Defender paint and aluminum work. The truck has all black Aluminum 5 Bar Diamond Plate, including the rear sills. It also has a military Southdown snorkel that is sealed and breathes through a K&N system. An ARB bumper with Warn winch and Hella lights sit up front, along with full skidplates. The factory 5-spoke wheels are black powder-coated with a matching full-size spare riding on almost new Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs. The interior is super clean and boasts four military jump style seats complete with seatbelts. It has a ripping stereo with an Alpine receiver, Focal speakers and a subwoofer integrated and fit into the truck’s original interior. The truck has an automatic transmission and factory Air Conditioning. The D90 drives amazing, has low mileage and more than one Certified Land Rover mechanic has commented, “this is the driest Defender I have ever seen” i.e. no rust or leaks. This Defender is for serious buyers who are looking for a beautiful truck that is highly capable on or off road. I would like to see the D90 go to someone who really appreciates and is interested in preserving what is essentially a time transported 1997 North American Series (NAS) Land Rover Defender 90. Take a look and judge for yourself if this is not one of cleanest and most well-built Defenders you have seen. |

Jaguar Land Rover says half its models will be hybrids or all-electric by 2020
Tue, Nov 22 2016Neither Jaguar nor Land Rover has ever been mistaken for big-time green-car brands, but their parent company is trying to change that. Jaguar Land Rover looks to have as many as half of its models be of the hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or battery-electric variety by 2020, CEO Ralf Speth said at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week. Speth made the announcement while showing off the I-Pace concept compact crossover. The green-car expansion would mark a natural extension of Jaguar Land Rover's decision last year to double the headcount in its advanced-engineering department. As for the five-seat I-Pace, that model will be Jaguar Land Rover's first production electric vehicle when it starts sales in 2018. The car will have a 90-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack that will deliver a single-charge range of about 220 miles. Boasting more than 400 horsepower, the car will also be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about four seconds. What's also notable is that Jaguar says the model has been designed to be an electric vehicle from the ground up, and hasn't been converted from the platform of an existing model. Of course, Jaguar late last year said it would enter a team in the FIA Formula E electric-vehicle open-wheel racing circuit, so the British badge has made recent noise about upping its green-car quotient. As for the I-Pace, the automaker hasn't revealed pricing on the model, but it's safe to say that it will be quite high. Check out a three-minute video of Speth's presentation here. Related Video:
Brabus takes on Range Rover Sport with Startech widebody kit
Wed, 26 Feb 2014Of all the tuners this side of AMG, none are as close to Mercedes-Benz as Brabus. After all, when Daimler needed a tuner to spruce up the Smart car, it was Brabus that it turned to. But Brabus tunes vehicles other than Mercedes - it just uses, let's call it, a pen name. It brands them Startech, like the widebody kit it's developed for the new Range Rover Sport and will present at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
The modifications center around the carbon fiber body panels Brabus (excuse us, Startech) has developed for the British sport-ute that give it over two inches of added width. The wider fender flares encompass 23-inch wheels that are forged, ceramic-coated, skinned with low-profile rubber and fitted to a lowered suspension. The front and rear bumpers have been redone in plastic and can be fitted with or without the wider fenders, and there's a three-piece roof spoiler at the back.
Startech is also offering an upgrade for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo-diesel V6 that squeezes out an extra 31 horsepower and 59 pound-feet of torque for a total of 323 hp and 501 lb-ft, dropping the 0-62 time from 7.2 seconds to 6.9. The German tuner also has a wide array of interior modifications on offer, details of which you can read about in the press release below and scope out in the high-resolution image gallery above.
Going high-tech, the 4x4 way
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Is It An Off-Road Adventure Or Just A Walk In The Park?
I remember having to get out and lock hubs and shift into neutral to engage low range.
Coming off press previews of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that involved some heavy-duty off-road rock climbing, I'm simply amazed at the capabilities that these vehicles possess. But even more impressive (or troubling depending on your perspective) is the relative ease with which you can operate these vehicles in seemingly impossible terrain.
