Runs and drives as good as new Only 15k miles on this 2.5NA Diesel MOD (Ministry of Defense)Engine and Rebuilt trans. Paint is original, somewhat faded, a few scratches and a dimple on the front right fender, adds character. Frame is solid. I purchased this right hand drive 110 Hardtop from a private importer in 2009. It was imported from England, I have repair records dating back to 2005 that came with it. The Chassis has 166k on it. The engine was installed in May 2010. by Rob at Southwest Rovers in NM at which time he also installed a bench built late model LT77 5 speed trans, and new exhaust ststem. This Rover has Power Steering and is a pleasure to drive. It is easier than you might think to getting used to driving a right hand drive and everyone who sees this truck will tell you how "cool" it is. During the three years I have owned the truck I have replaced the shocks, axel seals and drive shaft seals along with new brakes all around. The tires are 255/85/16 BF Goodrich MT KM2 mounted w inner tubes, with only 9k on em and a 2" lift. Absolutely no rubbing, even when articulated(see photo). The stereo sounds great with a speaker in each door,  two mounted in the upper rear corners in custom enclosures, and a self powered sub mounted behind the center seat. Great for those road trips. Will do 70mph but Cruises comfortably at 65. Custom interior door skins of Aluminum sprayed black including a generous cup/bottle holder, wide pocket and armrest that's right where you need it. I fabricated an overhead sunglasses and misc storage tray overhead as well. The ceiling is lined with a poly based black sound deadening material.  The rear area is set up with removable plywood floor that is lockable and provides a flat surface that will hold a full size air mattress for a good nights sleep while traveling or hunting/ fishing, camping trips. I mounted a cargo box for gear onto the custom aluminum rack, on our trips to save the space for the sleeping area. Pictured are lockable storage areas in front of the rear tires that are accessible from inside the truck. As you can see a 5 gal Jerry Can  fits in there easily along with foldable army shovel. This Rover is 100% road worthy US legal and is currently registered in MD with historic plates. It's ready to go wherever you want to take it. Cover my travel expenses and ill drive it to you. Or pick it up yourself and enjoy the ride. Reasonable reserve. Feel free to contact me if you need more info

2018 Range Rover Sport Coupe spied in Scotland

Wed, Jun 8 2016

Sport utility vehicles are the rage. SUVs with coupe styling are pretty popular, too, as BMW and Mercedes have demonstrated. Now it's Land Rover's turn. Believed to be the upcoming Range Rover Sport Coupe, this ute was spied this week during top secret testing at a remote location in Scotland. The vehicle would slot between the Range Rover Sport and Evoque, giving Land Rover an answer to the Mercedes GLE and BMW X6. These shots show what appears to be a chopped roofline, giving the new model a sportier profile than the traditional upright silhouette of Rovers. We expect it will use a version of the aluminum Jaguar F-Pace platform and offer V6 and V8 engines. It could also offer a hybrid or full electric version. The new crossover might also be lower set in a bid to differentiate it from traditional Rovers and give it a performance vibe. The Range Rover Sport Coupe – or whatever it is ultimately called – would enter a strong segment that's found favor in the United States. Once derided for potentially offering less function than traditional utes, these lifestyle vehicles have developed a strong following for their style and capability. The X6 was so successful, BMW added the smaller X4, and this forced Mercedes to follow suit with the GLE and GLC coupe variants. In this context, it's about time for Land Rover to join the fray. Jaguar Land Rover opening its first U.S.-based classic center in Georgia

Sun, Aug 19 2018

Jaguar Land Rover Classic currently operates two of its Works Centres, one in Coventry, England and the other in Essen-Kettwig, Germany (pictured). Just in time for Pebble Beach, the English carmaker has announced that it will bring its first facility to the United States next year, having signed a deal to open the latest Works operation in Savannah, Georgia. To be located in the Crossroads Business Park near Gulfstream Aerospace, the facility will engage in the sales, service, and restoration of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles out of production for at least ten years. The 150,000-square-foot Coventry site opened two years ago and is said to be the largest dedicated factory workshop of its kind (the largest unaffiliated shop is in the Philippines). Jaguar builds its continuation cars there, like the D-Type and XKSS, while Land Rover uses it to build the Defender Works V8. Shoppers can also buy vintage models off the showroom floor, a variation of the Certified Pre-Owned program called Works Legends, that come with a 12-month warranty. Or, Jaguar Land Rover will locate, restore, and maintain one of the classic company products that a buyer chooses. In the UK, a Land Rover Series 1 starts at around $90,000, a Jaguar E-Type starts at around $400,000. The 48,000 Essen-Kettwig center opened last year with the same brief, and the U.S. center can provide those services to the world's largest classic car market. Construction on the 75,000-square-foot complex is scheduled to begin next August, and the facility will include a 42-bay workshop and showroom. The automaker will invest from $10 to $15 million, and predicts more than $45 million in revenue. Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison told The Savannah Morning News that JLR will hire 75 workers at a starting salary of $80,000. Queen Elizabeth II was a longtime automotive enthusiast

Sun, Sep 11 2022

Since driver's licenses, license plates, and passports were issued in her own name, Queen Elizabeth II didn't need them to drive and travel. She started combining the two just before she turned 19, joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) transport division in 1945 for vehicle mechanic training. She wanted to help the British effort during World War II and would drive an ambulance — one that, theoretically, she could also fix if it broke down. The war ended before she graduated as an Honorary Junior Commander, the other ATS members dubbing her Princess Auto Mechanic. We donÂ’t know if she got under the hoods of the many official state vehicles and the far more numerous unofficial fleet in the royal garages, but she was still driving herself around England as late as this year. Here is a tiny selection of royal conveyances used during her 70-year reign. Gold State Coach (1762) True, she never drove this one, but a tour of every royal garage should start with the coach. King George III commissioned Samuel Butler to build it in 1760. Butler spent two years on the gilded carriage 24 feet long and more than 12 feet high. The quarters are suspended from the frame by leather straps, so occupants get tossed about even during a slow stroll, which is as fast as the eight Windsor Gray horses can pull it. It wasnÂ’t until the 1900s that King George VI rubberized the wooden wheels. Word is the queen didnÂ’t like it.   1953 Land Rover Series 1 Land Rover gave Queen ElizabethÂ’s father, King George VI, the 100th example of the 80 Series off the line in 1948. She picked up the Landie habit for herself five years later, when a 1953 Series 1 with a custom 86-inch wheelbase was part of the fleet used for her six-month tour of the Commonwealth in 1953 and 1954. That Land Rover became Ceremonial Vehicle State IV. The models above were built in Australia in 1958 as near copies of the Commonwealth tour vehicle, when Australia decided it wanted six identical versions for royal service. ItÂ’s thought the royal family went through around 30 Land Rover Series cars and Defenders since then, and many of the most common photos of her have her posing in or near one, especially the 2002 Defender built just for her. The royal family isnÂ’t finished with them, either: A current Defender 110 served as a luggage hauler for family members headed to Balmoral Castle during the queenÂ’s final days.
