1983 Land Rover/ Rare Santana/defender Raf Gray--excellent Condition on 2040-cars
Roanoke, Virginia, United States
Don't miss this opportunity to purchase a extremely rare and vintage Land Rover Santana, recently imported from Spain with all original equipment, except for new paint job (RAF gray), truck bed liner interior, 5 new tires, upgraded vacuum assist pump for the brakes and rebuilt starter. Santana Motor S.A. was a Spanish car manufacturer based in Linares, in the province of Jaen, Spain, contracted by the original British Land Rover Company to build these vehicles. This 1983 Santana D90 is considered a superior version of the British Made Land Rover. These are extremely rare in North America. The vehicle is advertised as a 1980 D90; however, it is actually 1983 because of the Vin Number that US Customs gave it won't list in the above field. Their vin number is VSELBABG2AZ102476
Truck features include the original 2.5 liter--4 cylinder diesel engine and detachable side walls, doors, and roof. Estimated mpg is 25-30. Short wheel base or also known as the D90 Series. Reinforced hood and wings--bar 5 diamond plate. Great in town commuter vehicle or off road on Mountainous Terrain. Vehicle was imported from Spain in 2013. Buyer will responsible for transportation of purchased vehicle. Payment must be a bank certified check with U.S. Funds within one week after online purchase. Reason for selling--I am a 2nd Lt in the US Army, and I am having a change in duty station that will not allow me to continue ownership of the Defender. I regret having to give up my childhood dream car, and would like the new owner to be someone who appreciates the history of this vehicle. Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility
Sun, 17 Aug 2014It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.
Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."
Jaguar likely moving HQ to Britain's most iconic racetrack
Fri, Feb 26 2016Jaguar Land Rover looks increasingly likely to make Britain's iconic Silverstone race track the automaker's new headquarters. There isn't a final deal in place yet, but the British Racing Drivers' Club, which owns the circuit, plans to have the membership vote on whether the negotiations should move forward, according to Autosport. BRDC leaders already presented the plan to members, and they were open to the idea. "The response was favorable so we will now set up an EGM for the members to vote and give the board a mandate to proceed with the deal and continue with the negotiations with JLR," BRDC president Derek Warwick told Autosport. There's no guarantee yet that JLR actually completes the deal. "There's still a lot of work to do to get the deal to where both sides are happy and more importantly what's right for the BRDC and its members." Warwick said. Rumors in early December suggested JLR was among the firms submitting bids to purchase the track, and the automaker allegedly offered 22.7 million pounds ($34.1 million at the time) for it. The company would also reportedly invest nearly $80 million to renovate the site, including adding a museum, experience center, hotel, and offices. The track would still be open for motorsport, too. Silverstone has hosted the Formula One British Grand Prix many times over the decades, and organizers signed a 17-year deal in 2009 to keep things that way well into the future. Series like the FIA World Endurance Championship, MotoGP, and British Touring Car Championship also compete there. Related Video:
