UK Vin Number - 92611545A

Please note, this vehicle is just leaving the UK on its way to America or more precisely Bluffton near Hilton Head, SC. It will be ready to collect approximately 28 days after the auction has finished. The vehicle will be to collect from Hilton Head and will come with all the relevant EPA, DOT, DMV paperwork and ready for the US roads. All we ask for is a $1000 USD deposit by paypal upon winning the auction to secure it. We regularly sell Defenders in the USA and if you look at my completed listings you will see we have just sold a 1985 Landrover 110 CSW V8.

Hi and thanks for looking at our listing for this Landrover Defender 90. Unlike many sellers this Landrover is to be collected by the new buyer in USA and comes with all relevant EPA and DOT clearance all ready for the new owner to title. The Landrover is originally from the United Kingdom and it still has 10 months of the UK MOT remaining. For those unfamiliar with the MOT it is a 12 monthly requirement in the UK for all vehicles where they check things such as brakes, lights, steering, chassis, and all round general safety. I have this certificate to hand and will be given to the new keeper which guaranteed you a safe, roadworthy Landrover.

The Vehicle

The Landrover itself is a rare 88" factory County Station Wagon. This Landrover has been fully restored approximately 12-18 months ago. A lot of money was spent on it. The Frame was taken off and the whole rear third of the frame was renewed for a brand new section. New outriggers were also installed and the whole frame was gone over and sealed to provide years of protection. The whole bulkhead has been renewed around 24 months ago along with new A pillars and floor pans. In addition, new front doors were fitted around the same time. The front seats are brand new and have not been sat in. The motor was removed from the Landrover and has been fully rebuilt with new Pistons, valves, head skimming work and a general complete overhaul. The motor has also been freshened up and colour coded to match the exterior. The gearbox was removed, rebuilt and added was a Fairey overdrive system which gives an extra gear for Freeway driving. The fluids in the front and rear diff were drained and diffs were resealed again for extra longevity. A new set of genuine and expensive Landrover wheels were added. The paintwork has been done around 18 months ago and a new galvanised bumper has been fitted. The cost of this work was well above $10,000 and probably closer to $15,000.

The Body

The exterior is finished in a marine blue contrasted with a cream safari roof. These Landrovers as you will know have aluminum panels and as such they generally have a few light impressions as this one does but nothing major. There is also a slight crack to the paint on the rear quarter but nothing major at all. The metal trim around the windows and lights etc has all been painted along with the whole body and engine bay being painted. The exterior looks very good indeed as you would expect but please remember it has been used for the last 12 months as a daily driver so there a few light marks that are just "typical Landrover". The frame is superbly solid, the bulkhead is great and the whole thing is just nice and solid and all the expensive jobs have been taken care of.

The Interior

The inside of the vehicle is clean, tidy and original. The 3 front seats are brand new and have hardly been sat in. Being the Safari station wagon, it has the genuine and factory fitted 4 x fold down rear seats in the back. They are in decent shape but do have so signs of use and a small amount of wear on a couple of them. We have chequer plated the rear out and it has even been painted on the inside to match the outisde. The 2 x front doors were new arounf 18 months ago so no corrosion issues on the ddor frames etc. The rear door is also very good and solid. The rear door card has a few marks but nothing major at all. Again very good indeed. Floor in the front has all been painted as well.

Mechanicals

The 2.25 Diesel engine has been removed and gone through and basically fully rebuilt. It wanted for nothing and the rebuild was done by a Landrover shop so done properly. The motor is great and runs without fault. The gearbox was removed, stripped and rebuilt with the addition of the Fairey Overdrive system which is a $1000 job on its own. The 4WD system was gone through and new uj's were added and the prop was all greased to factory spec. The brakes have been overhauled. The steering box has been replaced and adjusted accordingly. A new radiator was added also. All fluids were drained and renewed and engine fully serviced. As you can imagine it runs like new and the Landrover shop commented on how quiet it ran for a diesel one of this age. This is ready to be driven and enjoyed on a daily basis!

Customs, title and delivery

The vehicle when collected will have passed all DOT and DMV test/inspections and is 100% USA legal. Furthermore, in contrast to a lot of Defenders for sale on ebay, the Defender will be to collect in the USA, Hhilton Head South Carolina, and has cleared customs, meets all EPA & DOT regulations and is ready to be titled. All necessary paperwork will be included.

If preferred, for transportation you can make use of our reliable trucker. Send an email for quotes.

Deposit, Payment, Title

Who picks car colors and materials? Designers like Hannah Custance

Tue, Dec 21 2021

As automotive journalists, we're often asked "how did you get that job?" People usually didn't even know you could do such a thing. In this 7 Questions series, we're highlighting other jobs in the automotive industry that you might not have heard about before. What do they do, how'd they get to do it and other questions about their particular corner of the car world. Slowly but surely, the automotive landscape is becoming more colorful. Look beyond the unrelentingly conservative palette of white, black and gray most buyers opt for and you'll see the increased use of exterior trim types beyond the usual chrome. There's gloss black, of course, but also other metallic finishes like gold or copper. Those can be found inside, too, where there's also an increase in colorful leathers and trims, innovative fabrics, new wood types and finishes, and greater creativity in general. So where is this change coming from? The answer is designers like Hannah Custance, the color and materials design manager for Jaguar Land Rover. Her team's latest effort is also its magnum opus, the 2022 Range Rover. Although saddled with the expectations that comes with one of the automotive industry's classic nameplates, the all-new Range Rover is also a celebration of cutting edge manufacturing and fashion-forward materials selection. We sat down with Hannah at the L.A. Auto Show to find out more about color and materials designers, how she ended up in the industry, and advice she might have for young designers out there. It has been condensed for brevity. Autoblog: What does a color and materials design manager to do?Hannah Custance: I basically look after a team of designers who design finishes for every A surface on the car. So, that could be exterior finishes. It could be interior trim materials, soft materials, hard materials, chromes, metals, woods, ceramic – that's one of the new ones – anything you can kind of touch and see is color material design. Autoblog: How early in the design process does your team become involved.Hannah: Right at the very start. In fact, we look at materials that don't have a product assigned to them or a car assigned to them. So, it takes actually a very long time for us to get materials approved and fully validated. We have to find suppliers that are willing to work in automotive and our test standards are incredibly high, some of the highest in the industry.

Jaguar Land Rover invests $1.5B to build factory in Slovakia

Fri, Dec 11 2015

Jaguar Land Rover will invest 1 billion pounds ($1.5 billion at current rates) to build a new factory in Nitra, Slovakia. Construction will commence in 2016, and the site will have an initial capacity of 150,000 vehicles a year when the first of them roll out in late 2018. JLR expects to employ 2,800 people there. JLR won't yet say what vehicle it will build in Slovakia, other than it will be an all-new aluminum model. The 2018 timing for the plant's start of production seems to coincide with the launch of the radically different next-gen Land Rover Defender, though. Earlier reports suggested that JLR also considered locations in North America, particularly Georgia, and Europe for the new factory. However, the company signaled the Slovakia choice earlier this year when it signed a letter of intent with the government there in August. The automaker then did a final feasibility study before committing to the site. The new factory continues JLR's recent manufacturing expansion. The company opened an engine plant in the UK last year and a factory in China. There will also be one soon in Brazil, and it will reportedly bid to buy the Silverstone Circuit as a new headquarters. JAGUAR LAND ROVER CONFIRMS NEW FACTORY IN SLOVAKIA • New world-class premium manufacturing facility confirmed in Nitra • The next stage of the Company's plans for sustainable global growth • Today's announcement also supports long-term investment in the UK Bratislava, Slovakia – Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that it will be the first British carmaker to open a manufacturing facility in Slovakia. The announcement follows an agreement between the company and the Government of the Slovak Republic to build a new plant in the city of Nitra, western Slovakia. The new world-class GBP1 billion premium manufacturing facility will eventually employ around 2,800 people. Today's announcement follows Jaguar Land Rover's recent confirmation to double its investment in its engine plant in the UK to almost GBP1 billion – the largest injection into a new British manufacturing plant in decades creating several hundred new jobs. Dr Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover commented, "Jaguar Land Rover is delighted today to welcome Slovakia into our family. The new factory will complement our existing facilities in the UK, China, India and Brazil and marks the next step in the company's strategy to become a truly global business.

Environmental group accuses BMW, JLR of link to deforestation in Paraguay

Wed, Sep 30 2020

ASUNCION, Paraguay — Environmental group Earthsight said on Wednesday it has linked some of Europe's largest carmakers to the deforestation of the Chaco, a dry forest region of Paraguay home to jaguars and one of the last uncontacted indigenous groups in the world. The group said in a report that livestock companies have illegally logged lands of the Ayoreo Totobiegosode indigenous ethnic group, some of whose members live in voluntary isolation. The livestock skin is used in leather upholstery of luxury vehicles sold by high-end European auto brands including BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover, the group said. UK-based Earthsight said it had made covert visits to tanneries that bragged about supplying the raw material to the luxury car brands. "BMW is using hides sourced from two slaughterhouses processing cows from ranches responsible for illegal [logging] in the Ayoreo Totobiegosode's forests. Jaguar Land Rover didn't dispute sourcing from a Paraguayan tannery that processes hides from another slaughterhouse doing the same," the report said. Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement to Reuters it had found no evidence to verify Earthsight's claims. It said its European suppliers assured sustainability. "We continue  our drive for further transparency and, in this case, the leather supplier in Europe verifies with each raw material supplier that no rural property that directly supplies it is involved in illegal deforestation," the automaker said. BMW did not respond to a request for comment on the Earthsight investigation. Paraguay exports about 50,000 tons of wet-blue leather (tanned, but not dried, dyed or finished) a year, and almost two-thirds of those shipments are bound for Europe, according to the report. Automakers say that leather is a byproduct of the far larger meat industry and high-end cars constitute a comparatively small market niche. But indigenous leaders say deforestation driven by growth in beef and leather exports is encroaching on their territory and destroying their way of life. "As deforestation advances with extensive cattle ranching, they are being imprisoned, they are disappearing," Taguide Picanerai, a spokesman for the Ayoreo community in the Alto Paraguay department, northwest of Asuncion, told Reuters. The region is home to some of the world's highest rates of deforestation, Earthsight said.   Green BMW Jaguar Land Rover
