Lamborghini Urus will have a 650-horsepower twin-turbo V8

For years, we've known the Lamborghini Urus is coming. Concepts and spy shots give us a pretty good idea of what the replacement for the Rambo Lambo will look like. We also know that the Urus will be powered by a twin-turbo V8, with a plug-in hybrid variant coming sometime later in on. Thanks to Automotive News Europe, we now know that the new V8 will turn out an impressive 650 horsepower, more than Volkswagen Group brethren from Porsche and Bentley. In a recent interview, Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali revealed the final horsepower rating. Torque is still unknown, but given the fact that this is a SUV with a turbocharged engine, look for a minimum of 600 lb-ft. The final output for the plug-in version is still up in the air. A full reveal is still a ways off, but production was set to start sometime last month. This should be the Italian automaker's volume seller, with base price possibly around $200,000, but that's not saying much when we're talking just a few thousand units a year. Ferraris, Porsches and planes star at McCall’s Motorworks Revival

MONTEREY, Calif. – McCall's Motorworks Revival, sometimes called The Jet Party, kicked off vintage car week here as enthusiasts streamed into the region for days of car shows, official automaker events and hob-knobbing leading up to Sunday's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Held at the Monterey Jet Center, the revival featured an array of exotic and classic cars blended in with planes, racecars, motorcycles and luxury items like jewelry. This year the eclectic lineup of cars included vintage Ferraris and Porsches, a raised 1964 Chevy Impala, a classic Toyota Land Cruiser and a Cobra. The 1960s Ford GT40 racecar sat near the modern Ford GT, while Camilo Pardo, the designer of the in-between generation (2004-06), held court nearby. Iconic planes like the B25, P51 and an ancient biplane were intermingled with the flashy cars. Show-goers tipped drinks, tossed back heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts, ogled the seemingly random collection of amazing machines and prepared for days of celebrating the automobile on the Monterey Peninsula. The revival is in its 26th year and is put on by McCall Events, whose owner Gordon McCall is a class judge at the concours and the cofounder another Monterey car week staple, the Quail. Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race

When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
