Zagato rolls out second Lamborghini 5-95 in yellow

Unless you live in one of the supercar capitals of the world, seeing a Lamborghini on the street is a rare opportunity. Even the Gallardo, of which Lamborghini produced over 14,000 to go down as the most prolific Raging Bull in the marque's history, is still far from an everyday sight. But at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este a few months ago – just shortly after the reveal of the new Huracan – Zagato presented an even more exotic version of the Gallardo. It's called the 5-95, and if features substantially overhauled coachwork that contemporizes the Raptor concept which the two Italian firms presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996. Rumors immediately began to circulate that Zagato would build a short run of these rebodied Gallardos, and here we have the evidence: the second 5-95, pictured at the Zagato factory in Milan. Wearing a more Lamborghini-like pearl yellow paintjob, this second of five 5-95s said to be in the pipeline looks more akin to the Cala concept of 1995 designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign. There's no telling who the customer is or how much he paid to get his hands on this rare bull, but you can bet it cost considerably more than a Gallardo or Huracan, even with the premiums customers are said to be paying for them these days.

Man hired to remove Confederate monuments finds Lambo burned

A contractor in Louisiana is discovering that no good deed goes unpunished. After David Mahler, the owner of H&O Investments, was hired by the city of New Orleans to remove monuments to the rebellious Confederate States of America, he was subjected to death threats. Then his Lamborghini was set on fire. What's bizarre here is the sequence of events. The death threats started rolling in after Mahler was announced as the city's contractor to remove monuments to Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee, PGT Beauregard, and Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis. Then the threatening phone calls started rolling in, New Orleans NBC affiliate WDSU reports. Mahler then pulled his company out of the job, but that didn't stop the torching of the new Huracan. A Baton Rouge Fire Department investigation into the fire at the H&O Investments office is still in progress, WDSU reports, but when Mahler's attorney calls the circumstances "extremely suspicious," it's not an unreasonable statement. The car was utterly unrecognizable after the fire. You can make out the tires and seat frames, and a lump of melted metal where the engine used to be, but that's about all that's left of Sant'Agata's new entry-level model. Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster confirmed

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed the arrival of the Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce Roadster. The news puts a bow on a gift we already expected, having seen the superfast roadster gussied up like a Swedish rally car during testing in the Arctic. Assuming you're tall enough to ride the ride, you'll get 740-horsepower from its 6.5-liter V12 in a body that's lighter by 110 pounds versus the more mundane (we use that term loosely, of course) LP 700-4. Production will be limited to 500 units, undercutting production of the Superveloce coupe by 100 units, and the dealer order lines have officially opened. Speaking of which, all 600 coupes have already been sold, each one listing at $493,095. The roadster will surely be more dear. The press release below has the official words from the man himself. The Aventador Superveloce coupe version made its UK debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, on display and running 'up the hill', with Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann in attendance. Speaking at Goodwood, Stephan Winkelmann confirmed production of the Superveloce Roadster. "The Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is the most pure, sports-oriented and emotional incarnation of a Lamborghini, and all 600 units have been sold, with first deliveries starting now. We will also produce a roadster version, which our dealers worldwide are now taking orders for." The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce was shown at Geneva motor show earlier this year. The Superveloce accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 325 km/h (217 mph).
