How to drive a Lamborghini Huracan off-road

Lamborghinis may come with all-wheel drive, but they're hardly made for off-roading. At least not the type the LM002 was made for and until the new Urus arrives. But one driver Down Under evidently had his own idea of what the Huracan could handle. During the second day of this year's the Targa Tasmania rally, Tony Quinn left the road in his ten-cylinder Lambo and jumped a dirt embankment. The Scottish-Australian pet-food magnate claimed the stunt was deliberate, as you'll hear him explain in colorful language at the beginning of the video above. It's definitely not the fastest way around the corner, but Quinn hits the dirt too hard to look like an accident. Still, we're glad he did it in front of the camera purely for our viewing pleasure. Reviving the spirit of legendary road rallies like the Targa Florio and Mille Miglia, the Targa Tasmania has been held on the Australian island for over two decades. Quinn won the five-day event twice – in 2009 and 2011 – behind the wheel of a Nissan GT-R. Both Godzilla and the preceding Gallardo have claimed the checkered flag in Tasmania four times each, coming second only to the Porsche 911 that has won nine times. Quinn and his co-pilot Naomi Tillett are competing in the GT4 category this year and currently sit fourth in the class standings. Lamborghini Veneno could be yours for just $11 million

How could an automaker charge over three million euros for a single automobile, no matter how rare or extreme? That's what we wondered when Lamborghini took the wraps off the Veneno at the Geneva Motor Show, with a price tag working out to over $4 million US using exchange rates at the time. But that suddenly seems downright reasonable when you see how much this owner is asking for one. Listed for sale on a German website by a broker in Japan, this particular Veneno is accompanied by an asking price of ˆ9.98 million. That works out to over $11 million at current rates, or a good three times what it originally cost when new, depending on which currency you're going by. Either way, that's one heck of a markup for a car now three years old, even if it only has about 840 kilometers (522 miles) on the odometer. You'd think, considering its lofty asking price, the seller could have provided some decent pictures, but apparently not. Lamborghini made only three examples of the Veneno coupe for public consumption, and this example is said to be the second. With the other two sold to owners here in the United States (in Long Island and Miami), this appears to be the one sold to a customer in China, and was previously spotted in Hong Kong on its way to Macau. No matter which way you look at it, the Veneno is a rare beast... even counting the nine roadsters that followed with an even more bullish price tag. Put in that context, the ˆ1.75m-euro ($1.9m) sticker price worn by the Centenario revealed in Geneva this year – also based on the Aventador with a more extreme design – seems like a relative bargain. LAPD now on patrol with its own Lamborghini Gallardo

Last year, the Dubai Police made news by purchasing a string of supercars to act as patrol vehicles around the city. Apparently, a generous family in Los Angeles thought that the LAPD needed to keep up with the Joneses, because they recently donated use of their Lamborghini Gallardo. Unfortunately, you won't be seeing the Italian coupe in any high-speed chases, as it's being used exclusively for display at charity events.
The Lamborghini has arrived courtesy of Nathalie and Travis Marg, proprietors of telecommunications contractor Light Source 1 Inc. They approached the force with the idea to use the supercar because "they admire what the LAPD does for the community," said LAPD Sergeant Frank Preciado to Autoblog. Galpin Auto Sports was tapped for the custom wrap to make it look like a police car, and according to Sgt. Preciado, the police force can use the car indefinitely. Importantly, the LAPD says no tax dollars have been expended on this vehicle.
The LAPD Gallardo will be on display to the public at Los Angeles County Air Show on March 21-22, and Sgt. Preciado said the police have already received many inquiries to display the car at other events. The police have even set up dedicated Twitter and Instagram accounts to promote its newest addition. Too bad it won't be catching speeders anytime soon.
