Take a ride in a Lamborghini Countach with Evo

Sure, the 1970s and '80s were full of crap cars like the Chevrolet Chevette or the Ford Granada. Dark times, but not completely. Take the mind-blowing Lamborghini Countach. Its sharp and angular styling was shocking at the time. It was and still is the archetypal bedroom wall supercar. But it's far from perfect. As Evo explains in its latest Icons drive, the clutch is heavy, the seating position is wonky, and the visibility is notoriously awful. It was the first Lamborghini in which it was a good idea to hang halfway out of the car while backing up, because the rear window was useless. As far as rare Lambos go, though, this 1981 LP400S is pretty impressive. It's being auctioned by RM Sotheby's as part of its Paris auction in early February. Latest ultra-light Lamborghini only costs around $32,000

Lamborghini, not finished celebrating its 50th anniversary with special models like the Veneno, has subtracted two wheels for the next stage of the party. The BMC Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Edition Impec is the second go-round of the collaboration between Swiss bicycle maker BMC and the Italian carmaker, both based on linking the carbon-fiber framed Impec to the carbon-fiber bodied Aventador.
Last year's run-of-30 Impecs has become this year's run of 50, each one built to order, and each costing 25,000 euros (about $32,000 US). BMC's special framebuilding technique is graced by a paint job unique to the model, Italian components and the same leather used in that taurean coupe. As with the car, you can order it at your local Lamborghini dealer and take delivery there.

Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster will debut in Monterey

While the Monterey Car Week and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance remain a brilliant place to watch cars (and people), it just wouldn't be the same if some of the world's finest automakers didn't bring something new to the affair. Lamborghini will take center stage in the lead up to this year's Concours, unveiling the all-new Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster at The Quail on Friday, August 14. While normally we'd say that details are scarce, the truth is, we expect the Aventador SV Roadster to simply mimic the standard SV hardtop. That should mean a screaming, 740-horsepower V12, a sub-three-second sprint to 60 miles per hour, a 200-mph-plus top speed, and a price tag in excess of half a million dollars. The SV Roadster will be limited to just 500 units, making it rare even among the ultra-pricey world of Lamborghini.
