Novitec Torado takes a stab at improving the Lamborghini Aventador [w/video]

Novitec has finished its tuning program for the Lamborghini Aventador, and it has called the mean-looking finished product, Torado. It looks like it wants to take the pedestrian sinisterness of the Aventador into an otherworldly rage, with carbon fiber vents, spoilers and protrusions lining the body from front to back.
Novitec says it's still good for daily use, even with four different stages of power tune and a fifth out-of-the-ballpark injection called "Bi-Kompressor." The power bumps start at 722 horsepower and 519 pound-feet and go up to 969 hp and 672 lb-ft with the bi-kompressor. The exhaust systems included in those packages are also good for shaving around 20 kilos from the car's weight.

Ford Mustang challenges Lamborghini in amazing drift battle

Engines scream and tires billow with smoke as Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Daigo Saito stage a drift battle through an abandoned Japanese resort that looks like a Russian village in this stunning clip. The high-performance ballet of these amazing machines sliding around makes this one of the best videos of the year. To fight this duel, Gittin straps into his 550-horsepower Ford Mustang, and Saito meets the pony car's challenge with a drift-prepped Lamborghini Murcielago. The drivers hit a curving road and show expert car control as the men slide these very different vehicles just inches from each other. Eventually, night descends, and they add some fire to the scene to give the stunts a more apocalyptic look. The production values for this short clip are phenomenal, and the editing makes the viewer feel right in the middle of the action. Lambo to mark founder's birth with limited-run supercar in Geneva

Lamborghini has something special planned for the Geneva Motor Show in March. That much we knew already, but now new details have come to light. They look rather promising, if you're into the whole limited-edition supercar thing. Contrary to prior expectations, Sant'Agata's latest won't be a one-off concept like the Egoista or the Aventador J, but will be produced in a limited run of 20 examples. In that respect it looks poised to follow in the footsteps of the Veneno and Sesto Elemento. The model is tipped to be called the Centenario, and will be presented on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth. The tractor mogul turned supercar-maker was born on April 28, 1916, and died on February 20, 1993, at the age of 76, leaving behind him quite a legacy – and a company that has changed hands more times than an aging baseball player. According to Auto Express, which spoke with Lambo CEO Stephan Winkelmann recently about the project, the Centanario (or whatever it's ultimately called) will wear much more subtle bodywork than extreme creations like the Veneno. That could appear more in line with the styling of the Asterion concept showcased last year in Paris. It may also feature some manner of hybrid powertrain, but will likely adopt the 6.5-liter V12 from the Aventador in some state of tune.
