Lamborghini Centenario to grace the cover of next Forza game

The creatives at Turn 10 Studios must have had a heck of a time choosing which new supercar would feature on the cover of the next installment in the Forza franchise. We saw an unsurpassed array of exotic machinery, after all, unveiled last month alone at the Geneva Motor Show, but in the end it's the Lamborghini Centenario that got the nod. The exclusive supercar marks the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth, and stands as "the most powerful Lamborghini produced to date," in the words of the company's own R&D chief Maurizio Reggiani. Unfortunately only 40 examples will ever be made – 20 coupes and 20 convertibles – and they've all been sold for the equivalent of nearly $2 million apiece. It will hit the small screen in the next Forza game before any of those extremely fortunate customers have theirs delivered in real life. Microsoft will reveal the new game at E3 in June, but for now we don't even know what it will be called. Forza Motorsport 7? Forza Horizon 3? Something else entirely? We'll have to wait to find out, but the Centenario will definitely be on the cover. This won't be the first time that a Lamborghini has graced the cover of a Forza game. The Huracan appeared on the cover of Forza Horizon 2. Previous cover cars have included the Ford GT, McLaren P1, Dodge Viper, Ferrari 458 Italia, and Audi R8. That'll make the Raging Bull marque, by our account, the only to be featured twice in the series. Thus, players will be the first to enjoy the aspects of the car celebrating the 100 year anniversary of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth, starting from the naturally aspirated V12 Centenario which produces 770 hp and powers from 0100 km/h in 2.8 seconds ( 0-300 km/h in 23.5 seconds) with a top speed of more than 350 km/h.

Valentino Balboni launches Lamborghini parts company

After 40 years of helping Lamborghini develop some of the greatest supercars on the road, former test driver Valentino Balboni is going back to work. Balboni recently unveiled his own company, aptly named VB, which will specialize in aftermarket components for Lamborghinis. VB's first matter of business is to give Lamborghini's most hardcore supercar a better sound. Set to launch at the Concorso Italiano during this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance week, VB's first aftermarket part is a titanium exhaust system for the Lamborghini Aventador LP-750 SV. The titanium exhaust system weighs in at 13.8 pounds and is a bolt-on part that uses OEM mounts. Each exhaust system takes over 350 hours to make and will be limited to a production run of 30 units. Pricing for the exhaust system hasn't been announced, but drivers with the means to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for an Aventador SV should be able to afford some aftermarket goodies. Balboni has an extensive history with Lamborghini. After starting as a mechanic's apprentice, Balboni went on to become a test driver at Ferruccio Lamborghini's request. Before retiring in 2009, Balboni was said to have driven roughly 80 percent of the automaker's entire production. Dad Invites Lamborghini Owners To Son's Birthday Party

The resulting unalloyed joy, as you'll see in the footage below, is priceless. One of my defining moments as a budding car enthusiast came the first time I got to see a Lamborghini up close. I was out in Los Angeles visiting a relative with my mother and sister, and I took the change of scenery as an opportunity to look for more exotic cars than my middle-class Midwestern upbringing would usually encounter. We were on a walk, when off in the distance I saw – and heard – something extraordinary: An early '80s Lamborghini Countach, black with those bronze five-hole wheels, pulling into a parking spot. My mom still takes great joy in periodically retelling the events of that day, and as the story goes, I joyfully took off without warning, chasing the car down the street shouting "Lamborghini!" "Lamborghini!!" in my best eight-year-old Italian accent. I must've still been adorable, because the owner not only let me sit in his car, scissor door open and ridiculous grin on my face, he left me playing around in its interior, nonchalantly telling me to shut the door when I was done. Just like that, he left, disappearing into a shop across the street. I can't tell you how long I sat in the car, or how many photos I demanded my mother take of me with my borrowed Bell and Howell, but I can remember being astounded at how low it was – I could crouch as if sitting on the bumper and still see over it! That was around 30 years ago, and I still have a couple of those dog-eared pictures. Funnily enough, my memorable Lamborghini encounter is pretty similar to that of the young boy featured in this video. At age seven, however, Jacob is clearly ahead of the curve. And "come true" it did, with the dealership helping organize not just a ride-along in an Aventador, but also a small cavalcade of other Lambos, all of which all showed up unannounced at his house on Jacob's birthday.
