Valentino Balboni launches Lamborghini parts company

After 40 years of helping Lamborghini develop some of the greatest supercars on the road, former test driver Valentino Balboni is going back to work. Balboni recently unveiled his own company, aptly named VB, which will specialize in aftermarket components for Lamborghinis. VB's first matter of business is to give Lamborghini's most hardcore supercar a better sound. Set to launch at the Concorso Italiano during this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance week, VB's first aftermarket part is a titanium exhaust system for the Lamborghini Aventador LP-750 SV. The titanium exhaust system weighs in at 13.8 pounds and is a bolt-on part that uses OEM mounts. Each exhaust system takes over 350 hours to make and will be limited to a production run of 30 units. Pricing for the exhaust system hasn't been announced, but drivers with the means to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for an Aventador SV should be able to afford some aftermarket goodies. Balboni has an extensive history with Lamborghini. After starting as a mechanic's apprentice, Balboni went on to become a test driver at Ferruccio Lamborghini's request. Before retiring in 2009, Balboni was said to have driven roughly 80 percent of the automaker's entire production. Lamborghini even named a supercar after him, the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, as a way of saying thank you. It looks like Balboni isn't done with Lamborghini, yet, and VB's titanium exhaust system for the Aventador SV should be an aural delight. Lamborghini builds 2,000th Aventador, production rate continues to climb

Last July, Lamborghini celebrated the assembly of its 1,000th Aventador. That was an impressive milestone for the $400,000-plus supercar, as its Murciélago predecessor took took nearly three years to accomplish the same feat. But the automaker's biggest and baddest bull has broken another milestone, as the Aventador celebrated its 2,000th vehicle produced last week. The Nero Nemesis (matte black) car rolled off the assembly line on June 6, destined to the garage of Thaddeus Arroyo, who lives in the States.
Originally launched as a closed-roof coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011, the Italians introduced the open-roof LP 700-4 Roadster last fall at the Los Angeles Auto Show before allowing us to drive it in February of this year. Assembled in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini's Aventador is currently running at a production rate of nearly five units per day.
Lamborghini has understandably been very pleased with its flagship, and customer demand shows no signs of faltering. According to the automaker, the waiting list for new car is longer than a year. Be sure to check out the press release below.

Lamborghini Huracan SV spied looking aggressive

Despite the production fate of the Lamborghini Urus seemingly in limbo, Lamborghini isn't waiting around for another project to work on. The Aventador SV Roadster has already been spotted in the arctic, and our spies just snapped this hotter Huracan in testing, as well. Except for the stickers on the body and larger front brake calipers, this Huracan looks mostly stock... at first glance. However, once your eyes move to the rear end, there's something very peculiar. You can see a camouflaged area at the back with mesh covering it that's above the standard diffuser. Behind that, spotting the two exhaust tips is quite easy. This look shares a strong resemblance with the Huracan GT3 racecar and suggests the lower pipes on this mule might just be for show. The exact name for this special Huracan is a mystery for the moment. Lamborghini tends to reserve the SV name for its V12 models, while the V10s get the Superleggera moniker. However, the Blancpain decal on the door could suggest a relationship with either the GT3 or possibly the Super Trofeo racers. Since both of them are rear-wheel drive, this could be some confirmation for that rumored version of the road car.
