Jeep's Wrangler Hellcat and six other sweet concepts for Moab
Thu, Mar 10 2016Jeep. Wrangler. Hellcat. You read that correctly. And while it's just a concept for this year's Moab Easter Jeep Safari, it has us dreaming about blasting through the desert at 200 miles per hour. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles released a whole slew of Easter Jeep concepts at an event at the company's Auburn Hills, MI, headquarters today. The 50th annual Moab Safari will take place in just a couple of weeks – it's a sort of mecca for Jeep owners, and for the past few years, FCA brings its concepts out to the rocks and trails of Moab to prove that these are more than mere one-off, delicate showcars. Our own Brandon Turkus was live at FCA's reveal event, and he passed along a bunch of notes, in addition to the official stuff from Jeep. Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers
Thu, 12 Jun 2014For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. 2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas, Lincoln and Jeep also awarded at Truck Rodeo
Tue, 14 Oct 2014The Ford Motor Company has a lot of reasons to celebrate after winning eight categories in this year's Texas Auto Writers Association's annual Truck Rodeo. Most important among them, the Blue Oval's latest 2015 Ford F-150 earned the prestigious Truck of Texas award, ending the Ram 1500's two-year winning streak. The 2015 Lincoln MKC also grabbed the honor as the CUV of Texas, and Ford was named Truck Line of Texas.
FoMoCo even took trophies for best technology with its extensive use of aluminum on its latest F-Series and best commercial vehicle for the new Transit 250. It wasn't a total sweep, though, because the Jeep Grand Cherokee grabbed the title of the SUV of Texas for the fifth straight time.
This year's event put 60 auto writers in 75 pickups, SUVs and crossovers and challenged them to find the best in a plethora of categories. All of the winners are listed below, and scroll down to read the full announcements from the Texas Auto Writers Association and Ford.
