This Wrangler is in very good condition. I am the first and only owner, purchased it new from Stoneridge Chrysler - Jeep - Dodge in Dublin, CA in March of 2012. I walk to work most days, so this Jeep has spent most of its life in the company parking garage, taken out for nice long highway drives along the California coast on weekends.
I am selling my Jeep because my life circumstances have changed, making it impractical for me to own a small car with limited room to haul things and people around. My loss has the opportunity to be your gain, as the auction will run with NO RESERVE and start BELOW either the NADA "Average" Trade-In Value ($21,075) or the Kelley Blue Book "Very Good" Trade-In Value ($20,600). This gives you the chance to get a great deal, and for me to sell my car on the first try.
Regarding condition, the Jeep is in excellent working order, as you would expect for a car just a few months more than a year off the lot. I have kept service records for the life of the Jeep -- there have been two services. First was a full synthetic oil change at six months (2199 miles). The second service was the factory recommended service, supposed to be performed at 8000 miles or one year -- performed at the one year mark with 5613 miles on the car. The interior is in excellent shape... never smoked in, no odors or stains or other surprises. I also added custom-fit Rugged Ridge ABS plastic floormats, so the carpets are still like new. These come with the car.
The exterior is in very good shape, but not perfect visually. There is a very fine scratch in the paint, about six inches long, under the driver's side door handle -- came from driving past a bush too closely! Also there are a couple of fine scratches on the passenger side plastic window of the soft top, also from driving too closely to some shrubs. There are absolutely NO dings, dents, or scrapes. The bumpers are in excellent shape and the car has absolutely never been wrecked or even dinged.
My Jeep has never been driven in snow, driven hard, or off-roaded. It has been cared for properly and stored in covered, secure parking for most of its life. It comes with the balance of its standard three year, 36,000 mile factory warranty, which is transferable. I do not believe there is any effort or cost involved in transferring the factory warranty, but if so, it is the buyer's responsibility to bear these.
The winning bidder will receive the Jeep Wrangler, custom-fit Rugged Ridge ABS plastic floormats, custom-fit Bestop cover for the rear spare wheel, the owner's manual for the truck, service records for two prior services performed, and two original Jeep keys, along with the code-plate required to order more factory keys.
(Note: Some of the pictures show a Thule bike rack installed into the trailer hitch. This is NOT part of the auction and has been removed.)
Terms and Conditions for this Auction
1. Bid to win! If you place a bid, you are committing to buy the Jeep at that price. If you would like to inspect the Jeep prior to bidding, you are welcome to come to Foster City, California to do so.
2. In order to give all viewers a fair shot at the auction, I will not end the auction early EXCEPT FOR the "Buy It Now" price, which is the NADA "Clean Retail" value of $24,650. You will need to use the "Buy It Now" feature to end this auction early.
3. If you choose to have the Jeep shipped to you, I would be happy to meet your shipping agent within a 20-mile radius of Foster City, CA. I will maintain insurance on the Jeep until 11:59 PM on the day when I handed the Jeep over to your shipping agent. Any damage occurring after I hand over the Jeep to your shipping agent will not be my or my insurance company's responsibility.
4. Since the Jeep is financed through Ally Bank, you won't actually send me the money to pay for it. We will arrange for a payoff, where you send the final auction value to Ally Bank directly, which pays off my loan. Once you complete the payoff, and I confirm with the bank, I'll release the car to you or your shipping agent. Rest assured that this is standard practice, Ally Bank is a large and reputable company, and I have never had a problem completing this type of transaction, ever. I've sold at least 4-5 cars on eBay in this manner, and maintain a 100% positive reputation for integrity in these matters.
5. If for any reason, the winning bidder does not complete the purchase of my Jeep, he or she agrees to reimburse me the actual costs that eBay charged me to post and complete this auction listing.
6. Potential bidders with zero feedback, please contact me prior to bidding.
7. The winning bidder must complete payment and take delivery of the vehicle within 15 days of the auction's end.
Thank you very much for stopping by, and have a great Independence Day weekend! Happy bidding.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey
Wed, 09 Jan 2013The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
Chrysler recalls 350k vehicles over ignition switches
Thu, 25 Sep 2014Chrysler has announced a recall covering 349,442 vehicles due to ignition switches that can either become stuck or move without warning. All of the affected vehicles are from the 2008 model year, and were built before May 12, 2008.
The automaker has learned that ignition keys on some vehicles "may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position during engine-startup," the company said in a statement. Additionally, "an ignition key may not fully return to the 'ON' position after rotation to the 'START' position and may inadvertently move through the 'ON' position to 'ACCESSORY' or 'OFF.'"
Chrysler says it is unaware of any related injuries, and notes that while reduced braking, engine or steering power is possible in such instances, the airbags are not affected. The later stands in contrast to General Motors' recent rash of high-profile recalls, and it's an important distinction that Chrysler (understandably) felt necessary to call out in bold print in its press release.
Jeep in St. Louis hacked from Pittsburgh
Tue, Jul 21 2015One of America's most popular vehicles contains a security flaw that allows hackers to remotely commandeer it from anywhere on the planet. Cyber-security researchers Chris Valasek and Charlie Miller say they've accessed critical vehicle controls on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee that allowed them to remotely control critical vehicle functions like braking, transmission function, and steering. Automakers have downplayed the possibility a car could be remotely compromised, but the significance of the findings detailed Tuesday could cause them to reevaluate the threats posed to hundreds of thousands of vehicles already on the road. A key finding – the pair needed no physical access to the Jeep to pull off the attack. Valasek and Miller accessed the controls via a security hole in the Sprint cellular connection to Chrysler's UConnect infotainment system. In the course of their research, Valasek sat in his Pittsburgh home and remotely manipulated Miller's Jeep as he drove along a highway outside St. Louis. If you know a car's IP address, they say, a hacker could control it from anywhere. "We didn't add anything, didn't touch it," Valasek told Autoblog. "A customer could drive one of these things off a lot, and they'd have no clue it had these open attack surfaces." Remotely, he disabled brakes, turned the radio volume up, engaged windshield wipers and tampered with the transmission. Further, they could conduct surveillance on the Jeep, measuring its speed and tracking its whereabouts. They conducted the experiments over multiple breaches. They made their findings public on the same day the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the federal agency in charge of vehicle safety, released its latest report on the readiness of government and automakers to fend off these sorts of cyber attacks. Later today, two US Senators are expected to introduce legislation that would help consumers better understand the potential risks of car hacking. In the early stages of their research, Valasek and Miller found a security flaw in the car's wi-fi that allowed them to remotely manipulate controls from a range of about three feet. But in recent months, they found another vulnerability in the Sprint cellular connection in the UConnect system. That was a key breakthrough. "Lo and behold, we found we could communicate with this thing using cellular, and then more research, and 'Holy cow,' we're using the Sprint network to communicate with these vehicles," Valasek said.
