Up for sale is a heavily modified 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. This Jeep belongs to my Uncle, but since it was built at our 4WD shop, I am listing it for him. He was driving it after a big snow storm and the right front tire got sucked into a snow bank. It spun him and flipped it onto the drivers side. It slid down the road on the drivers side, hit a snow bank and stopped. It is a meticulously maintained Jeep. It now comes with a Connecticut salvage title. The hard top shattered and the roll bar took the brunt of the force. The roll bar, windshield frame and tub are damaged. The drive-train, frame and suspension are fine. The Jeep starts, runs and drives just as it did. The grill, P.S. fender, P.S. hard door and tail gate are good. The drivers door is slightly bent at the top and the glass blew out. The air bags did not deploy. It has the 4.0 engine with an automatic trans, Rock track 241 t-case and Dana 44 axles front and rear. All standard Rubicon hardware. The frame is clean and rust free. We fully removed the lower control arm brackets, smoothed frame, primed and painted frame before installing the suspension system. Below is a list of the modifications that we installed.

  • Bushwacker flat top flares. Passenger side are both good, drivers side front has a scuff on it and rear is broken.
  • Alloy USA rear Dana 44 H.D. Alloy axle shafts
  • C.V. style yoke on back of t-case
  • Tom Woods C.V. style rear drive shaft
  • (5) Goodyear MTR's 35 x 12.5 x 15 on black alloy wheels
  • Rock Hard front winch bumper
  • Carr hoop steps
  • Warn rear bumper with tire carrier
  • Borla stainless steel cat back exhaust system
  • AEM polished aluminum air intake with throttle body spacer
  • New Interstate battery
  • Hella headlights
  • LED tail lights
  • Stainless steel hood latches (drivers side scuffed)
  • Stainless steel hood footman loop
  • Stainless steel head light trim rings
  • Stainless steel fuel filler door
  • Teraflex 4" LCG Enduro suspension system
  • Teraflex long arms with belly up skidplate and solenoid relocation bracket
  • Teraflex front upper adjustable control arms
  • Teraflex steering stabilizer
  • Bilstein shock absorbers
  • Skid row engine skidplate
  • Seat riser blocks

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and a Final Four of automakers | Autoblog Podcast #723

Fri, Apr 1 2022

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. We start out with news on the Lotus Eletre and Ferrari Purosangue. These two high-end crossovers are followed by discussions about the new inline-six engines from Stellantis and an overabundance of Hummer EV orders. Next we try something we've never tried before: ranking automaker blue bloods. We took inspiration from the current NCAA tournament, which features Duke, North Carolina, Villanova and Kansas — very much traditional blue-blood basketball programs — to name our Final Four automakers. Let us know if you agree or disagree with our picks and what your definition of a blue blood car brand is. We wrap up with a discussion about the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk that Jeremy's been driving all week. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Chrysler Recalling Nearly 907,000 Cars, SUVs

Fri, Oct 17 2014

Nearly 907,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep SUVs and cars are being recalled for alternators that can fail and heated power mirror wiring that can short and cause minor fires. The recalls, posted Thursday by U.S. safety regulators, push the total number of recalls so far this year 544, totaling a record of more than 52 million vehicles. The largest of Thursday's recalls covers nearly 470,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees, Chrysler 300s, and Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Durangos from the 2011 through 2014 model years. The alternators can fail, causing the 3.6-liter V6 engines to stall unexpectedly. The problem also can cause the electrical system to fail, as well as knock out power-assisted steering, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. It can even cause fire or smoke, according to documents Chrysler filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. NHTSA opened an investigation into the problem in July, and Chrysler began its own probe in August. The company analyzed warranty complaints and alternators that had failed. The alternator generates electricity to recharge the battery and run other devices. Chrysler investigators traced the problem to heat fatigue in an alternator diode. Chrysler said it received 322 complaints about the problem, while 55 people complained to NHTSA. The company said it knows of one crash related to the problem, but no injuries or fires. The company will replace the alternators with upgraded versions for free. Owners will be notified in November. The company says customers who see warning lights or suspect a problem should contact their dealers. The recall affects cars and SUVs sold mainly in the U.S. and Canada, but some were sold in Mexico and overseas markets. The second recall covers almost 437,000 Jeep Wranglers from 2011 through 2013. Water can find its way into the heated power mirror wiring harness and cause corrosion. That can cause a short and could cause a minor fire and smoke, as well as cause loss of function of the mirror. The problem was discovered in February after three Wranglers in Canada were damaged. Chrysler says it has 26 complaints about the problem, but it knows of no fires, crashes or injuries. Dealers will move the wiring and install a protective shield to keep water out at no cost to owners, starting in December. Most of the Wranglers are in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, but more than 78,000 were sold overseas.

2014 Jeep Cherokee marketing launches with 'Built Free' commercial

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

Now that the 2014 Cherokee is finally on its way to dealerships, Jeep is starting its marketing blitz for its new crossover, beginning with this 60-second TV spot, called Built Free, that premieres today. Set to a Bob Dylan recording, the ad spot discusses something we can all relate to - the feeling of being too busy and too cooped up with everyday tasks to really get out there and explore the world. But as Jeep says in the commercial, "You're still here. And you're still you. The horizons haven't gone anywhere."
Autoblog spoke to Kim Adams-House, head of marketing for the Jeep brand, who explained that this Built Free spot is "an anthemic piece" that "sparks the conversation" for the new Cherokee. As you'll notice, none of the new Jeep's features - its off-road systems, nine-speed automatic transmission, etc. - are mentioned in the ad, but Adams-House says that future marketing "will speak to more" of the CUV's highlights. Following this 60-second spot, 30-second commercials will launch that talk about some of the specific product features.
When asked if the Built Free campaign will include any throwbacks to the original Cherokee, Adams-House told Autoblog that while "we love that vehicle," the new spots are intended to carve out "a unique space for Cherokee in our product portfolio and marketplace." On that same note, don't expect any other Jeep vehicles to get the Built Free treatment. Adams-House said that while this ad "does resonate overall with the brand," it is solely intended to promote the new Cherokee.
