2000 TJ for sale. It has 4.0/5sp with AC and is in the rare factory Shale green color. It has 106K on body and 1200 miles on new motor. Motor is one I had made by Promar with the heavier duty clearwater head.
This jeep is in excellent shape and only has a very small dent and some scratches. One small dent (marble size) is on passenger rear corner and could be easily removed VIA paintless dent removal method ( see pic). Also it has some marring of the paint on the passenger door from opening too far and hitting the antenna base.( see pic) I have fixed that problem by adding cloth door straps which stop the door at a certain full open point.
The only reason I'm selling this jeep is to justify a boat purchase and jeeps are not the best choice for pulling an 18' boat. I drove quite a few jeeps before picking this one and many of the jeeps I saw had been ridden hard and mistreated. This was a one owner before I got it 2500 miles ago. I know some MT tread tires are loud or roar but these are really pretty quiet and you can actually hear the radio over road noise with the doors off of the jeep. This jeep handles well and has no problem cruising at 65-70MPH. It does great in the snow and I got to try it out 3 times this year. Basically this jeep is not one to be scared of and it will be a good one for someone.
Thanks and feel free to contact me with any concerns.

2016 Jeep Wrangler to ditch solid axles to save weight?

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

Hey, Jeep fans. If you think the idea of a funky-looking, car-based Cherokee revival is offensive, have a listen to what might be in store for the next-gen Jeep Wrangler. Automotive News is reporting that as Jeep develops the 2016 Wrangler, weight reduction is a crucial target, and the Wrangler's rugged solid axles could be sacrificed in the name of better fuel economy.
We've already heard the next Wrangler will go on a serious diet using aluminum body panels and an air suspension system, so the idea of a four-wheel independent suspension setup for this OG SUV isn't all that surprising. Besides, it's not like an independent suspension would limit the Wrangler's off-road abilities - just check out the Hummer H1. In fact, it might be the aftermarket parts companies - not Wrangler enthusiasts - who would be most disappointed by such a drastic suspension change, as the article states that the Wrangler's solid axles and coil-link suspension make it the most popular SUV for customization.
There are probably still a couple years before we'll start hearing any concrete details about the 2016 Wrangler, at which time it will be interesting to see how stricter fuel economy and crash safety regulations have been balanced with traditional Wrangler cues like its removable doors and roof and folding windshield. Let us know in the comments below if a Wrangler sans solid axles is any less of a Wrangler.

Hackers stole Jeeps in Texas using FCA's internal dealer software

Fri, Aug 5 2016

This article has been updated with details on how the thefts were carried out, and with comments from FCA. It seems the news regarding vehicle hacking continues to get worse, especially when it comes to products from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Last year, a Jeep Cherokee in St. Louis, Missouri, was wirelessly hacked from Pittsburgh. Nissan had to shut down its Leaf app because of vulnerabilities. Now, a pair of hackers in Houston, Texas, stole more than 30 Jeeps over a six-month period. The two were arrested by police last Friday while attempting to steal another vehicle. ABC 13 in Houston reports that police had been following Michael Arcee and Jesse Zelay for several months but were unable to catch them in the act until now. The two were using a laptop to connect to and start a vehicle. The thieves were able to access Fiat Chrysler's own DealerCONNECT software. After entering the vehicle identification number, the hackers were able to reprogram the cars' security systems to accept a generic key, according to The Houston Chronicle. Additionally, Automotive News reports that FCA subsequently updated the terms of use for its DealerCONNECT program. These thefts were not related to the UConnect remote hacks from last year. It was this footage that first led the police to Arcee and Zelay. The police began to follow and record the pair. That investigation eventually led to Friday's arrest. Both are charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. In addition, Arcee is charged with felon in possession of a weapon and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. According to ABC 13, Homeland Security is investigating more than 100 stolen FCA vehicles that they believe were hacked using this method. After their theft, the vehicles were brought across the border to Mexico. FCA is currently conducting an internal investigation into the matter. After this article was posted, the company reached out to Autoblog, stating "FCA US takes the safety and security of its customers seriously and incorporates security features in its vehicles that help to reduce the risk of unauthorized and unlawful access to vehicle systems and wireless communications. FCA US has been cooperating with Houston Police Department since they first started the investigation.
