1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport Sport Utility 2-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Mooresville, Indiana, United States
Selling my 1999 Wrangler. I've done a lot of work to maintain it and bring it back up to stock conditions. I now drive it daily to and from work with surprisingly high gas mileage. Here is a list of parts I've replaced or upgraded.
-Full engine tune up -Rebuilt transmission -Rebuilt rear differential -Repaired four wheel drive -Replaced fuel pump -Replaced steering gear ('99 Durango mod - very smooth now) -Replaced lateral shock -Replaced tie rod ends -Replaced ball joints -Replaced wheel bearings -Replaced all bushings -Brand new General Grabber AT2 tires (stock size 205/75/15) -Hard top -Replaced climate control switches and knobs -Replaced blower motor resistor I consider all of these things normal degradation for a vehicle this old. Their replacement will ensure much longer life. As any Jeep enthusiast would attest, the Inline Six engine is bulletproof and can be expected to last virtually forever if properly maintained. With the rebuilt transmission, I expect this Wrangler to see 350k miles or more with the right owner. There are no glaring problems to speak of and the pictures show the rust. Please feel free to ask any questions and make any offer. I may be able to meet halfway for delivery (I like road trips) if necessary. Thanks for looking! |

Watch this 650-hp Hennessey Jeep Grand Cherokee go from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds
Tue, 14 May 2013Hennessey Performance Engineering has created an HPE650 package for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT fitted with the 6.4-liter Hemi engine. When it leaves the showroom floor it has 470 horsepower and gets from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds. When it leaves Hennessey's garage floor after the upgrade it has 650 horsepower - 530 hp at the wheels, according to Hennessey - and gets to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds on its way to running the quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds.
There's more than just a Roots-type supercharger bolt-on, with ported cylinder heads and high-flow headers among the many changes made to the engine. You can watch this pre-2014 facelift silver model prove its spec sheet on the drag strip in the video below.
North Carolina driver charged for flattening Trump sign
Thu, Mar 17 2016Police in Wilmington, NC are investigating a viral video that shows a local man driving off the road to run over a Trump for President campaign sign. Julien Schuessler of Wilmington posted a video to Facebook on March 15 showing him driving his white Jeep off the road in a reckless manner to smash a Trump sign. He captioned the video, "I love having a Jeep sometimes." The video immediately went viral, reaching nearly a million views and 25,000 shares in less than twenty-four hours. Any elation Schuessler may have felt at having his video go viral was short lived, though. According to WWAY, Wilmington Police were tipped off to the existence of the video on the afternoon of March 16. They were, understandably, less than pleased. In an official tweet, WPD stated that they were aware of the video and were investigating. A spokesperson for the WPD stated that Schuessler faces multiple charges for his little stunt, including hit and run, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane control. WWAY reached out to Schuessler for comment, but he has declined to respond. Chrysler set to make $266M-investment into 8-speed transmission production
Wed, Dec 10 2014Chrysler will shortly make a significant $266-million investment into its Kokomo, IN transmission factory in a bid to expand production of its eight-speed automatic transmissions. The gearboxes, which are built under license from Germany's ZF Friedrichshafen, have been well received by customers and critics, and according to an SEC filing obtained by Automotive News, the transmissions will eventually find their way to all of Chrysler's rear-drive offerings (Viper and heavy-duty Ram models, aside). According to AN, a Chrysler spokesman says the investment has not been confirmed, but once it is, it'll mark the company's latest in a growing line of investments at the facility. Chrysler has poured $1.5 billion into Kokomo since 2009.
