Here's a project for someone who wants a basically unadulterated TJ.  I bought it a couple of years ago to play with; never used it as my regular vehicle.  It was kinda rough when I got it so I set to getting her into shape. I haven't used it now in about 6 months and honestly, I have lost interest in it and it needs to go.

I've put a bunch of work into it over the past couple of years, and at one time several years ago the engine was replaced with a brand new Jasper unit - tag is under hood. Other work I've done for which I have receipts:
  • Oxygen sensor
  • FL turn signal socket
  • Transfer case switch (so the 4wd lights up)
  • New distributor
  • Rear brake shoes
  • Rear wheel cylinders
  • Brake cables
  • Crank sensor
  • Front U joints
  • Rear brake lines
  • Side mirror relocation kit (to drive w/o doors)
There's $2150 that made it mechanically perfect. Someone is gonna get a lot of Jeep for the buck, but it does need some love.

What she needs is some body work. FL fender rough, R side fine - think it has been replaced. Floor pans up front are rusted out and I took the seats out and got a set of replacement pans, but that's where I stopped. I'll put the seats back in before it leaves. New galvanized pans come with the Jeep. Pics show the floor pans looking like Barney Rubble could stop it with his feet.  Back is solid. Doors are solid (not shown) and they have the glass sliding windows instead of plastic side curtains. The convertible top is all there - I just have it off and it did the usual shrinking and I don't want to mess with it and maybe tear it to put it back on. It will need replacing soon. No tears in upholstery.  Tires pretty beefy, though it needs a spare.  I also have all the carpets and back seat - just removed to do floor pan job.  I drove it all last summer with the top down. It's really a fun car.

The thing I liked is that it wasn't adulterated by any changes to suspension. If that's your thing, here's one to start from scratch instead of dealing with someone else's backyard engineering.

Clear PA title in my name which we can transfer here or I can sign off and have notarized for you. I'll also provide a bill of sale if you like.

I am being completely forthcoming here - no worries about hiding anything. WYSIWYG. If there's anything else I can tell you, just ask and I'll do my best to answer it. I've bought and sold vehicles via eBay before and have dealt with some shady sellers - I'm not trying to be that kinda guy!

I'd prefer to sell for cash; may take partial trade in titled Italian or Japanese scooters - no Chinese.  Whatcha got? Let's talk  $500 deposit via PayPal upon winning; balance in cash on pickup, or PayPal with 4% buyer's fee.  Car is located in east end of Pittsburgh. May be able to deliver locally with advance payment and arrangements, again, let's talk.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Radical 2016 Jeep Wrangler suggested by job listings?

Fri, 31 May 2013

With most inside the industry expecting the next-generation Jeep Wrangler to arrive for the 2016 model year, it makes sense that the automaker would be looking for some choice candidates to to fill program openings as the off-roader goes through its development. A recent ad on Chryslercareers.com suggests to some that the lightweight Wrangler Stitch Concept, revealed just two months ago and shown above, provides some clues about the off-road icon's next iteration.
According to Automotive News, the job descriptions - which don't name the model specifically - hint that the next-generation Wrangler will benefit from a serious diet. The ads appear to seek those familiar with advanced high-strength steels, hinting that lightweight aluminum body panels may appear on the 4x4. In addition, there are suggestions that Jeep may fit the Wrangler replacement with air suspension, as seen on the Ram and Grand Cherokee, to retain ample off-road clearance yet lower that chassis to improve aerodynamics at highway speeds. The job postings reportedly also lend credence to the idea of a diesel Wrangler.
It seems every bit of the next-generation Wrangler is up for review, as it will be the first time this iconic model is redesigned under Fiat ownership. Questions remain whether or not the Jeep will retain its clip-down hood, easy-to-remove door pins and folding front windshield - loyalists expect them, but fuel economy and safety standards may crimp their cases for survival.

Baby Jeep to join Renegade in FCA's plan for new Italian-built models

Tue, Nov 27 2018

FCA is boosting its European production, introducing new models that will be built in currently under-utilized manufacturing facilities. Among the new models is a new small Jeep, smaller than the current Renegade, as Automotive News reports. FCA's Mike Manley mentioned the entry-level Jeep model earlier this year, also saying that the vehicle is targeted to European and possibly Latin American customers; in the summer, Autocar placed the launch date in 2022. The new "baby" Jeep would be made in the same factory in Pomigliano, Italy, as the small Fiat Panda, which is a top seller in Italy. The current generation Panda was introduced in 2011; if it gets a replacement in 2022, it could possibly share a platform with the Jeep model — or, the Jeep could be an eventual outright replacement for the Panda. One of Fiat's earlier core products, the Punto hatchback, was canned in August, and that production capacity will be used to make the Jeep Compass instead, at the Renegade-producing Melfi factory in southern Italy. The Compass has not previously been built in Europe. The Fiat model portfolio would be shrunk to just the 500 model family and the Panda — the 500 would also be FCA's key electric vehicle offered in Europe. It is not yet clear whether the electric 500 would be made in Turin, Italy, or in Poland; Turin might also get a Giardiniera-badged wagon version of the refreshed 500. As for the Alfa Romeo brand, it is set to gain an even bigger SUV model than the Stelvio, based on the Maserati Levante's platform. The Levante's sales have suffered recently in China, but Maserati does have light in the horizon: The Alfieri 2+2 grand tourer is still in the cards, with a launch expected for 2020 and both a convertible and an electrified version planned to follow. The Alfieri would be made in Modena, Italy, according to Automotive News' sources. None of these plans namedrop the storied Lancia brand, which has been shrunk to just the Ypsilon hatchback, based on the same platform as the current 500 and Panda. Despite that, the Ypsilon was again the second-bestselling car in Italy after the Panda in October. It is unlikely that FCA will be able to ignore this, but it is just as unlikely that any development money will be afforded to come up with a replacement for the Ypsilon, which is as similarly old as the Panda. Perhaps official announcements expected on Thursday will also clarify what will happen to Lancia.
