If you have been looking for a pre 1997 square headlight Wrangler that has been well maintained, this is the Jeep for you. I bought this Jeep as a tinker toy and one thing lead to another. I ended up going through it mechanically and it is now ready for somebody to enjoy. The vehicle is in nice shape, I have replaced the following with new parts; Interior carpet, brakes, tie rod ends, shocks, sway bar bushings, exhaust system, heater core,hoses, spark plugs,thermostat, distributor cap and rotor, valve cover gasket and the air filter. I have had the throttle body serviced and the transmission rebuilt less than 100 miles ago. The jeep is an automatic and the four wheel drive works as it should and shifts easily. The tires are BF Goodrich all terrains and have about 75% of their tread left on them. The Jeep has nice road manners at all speeds and goes down the road straight without any vibrations or strange noises, it rides quite compfortably with the new shocks and bushings. I am going to be a father for the first time and this forces the sale of my toys. The Jeep has newer paint and shines up very well, there is one area on the front fender that has developed a two inch area of rust above the fender flare. If the vehicle meets the reserve, I will have the fender replaced with a new one and will have it professionally painted at no cost to you. If it doesnt bother you I will reduce the price by $600.00 and you can have it fixed at a later date. Maserati Levante crossover not Jeep based after all?

Maserati has been teasing its crossover project since 2011, which is when it first showed off the Kubang concept (pictured above). Still, the production version, rumored to be called the Levante, remains a complete mystery. The CUV was first rumored to borrow the platform from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but new rumors indicate that the Italian, luxury crossover might actually take the underpinnings from the Quattroporte and Ghibli.
In a brief interview, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told CNN Money that the Levante wouldn't use Jeep's platform. Motor Trend spoke with an unnamed Maserati engineer who confirmed the rumor. Officially, the company says that no decision has been made.
We can add this to another long list of rumors about the Italian CUV. It was originally supposed to be built at Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit. Then, plans were changed to build it in Italy.

Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production

In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.

The 30th anniversary of American Motors' 1987 sale to Chrysler by Renault is just a few years away. AMC is long dead, but for its latest peek in the archives, MotorWeek winds back the clock to somewhat happier times. Take a look at the entire AMC lineup from 1983, including its models from Jeep and Renault. The Jeeps, and to a lesser extent, the AMC Eagle, enjoy a cult following today, but it's amazing how many of these other vehicles are now practically forgotten. Even the big debut in '83 of the Renault Alliance is largely ignored. Although with a ludicrous amount of body roll and a 55-horsepower 1.4-liter engine, it's probably rightly buried.
