Hello, I am thinking of selling my Jeep to start another project, I put a lot of time and money into this and the condition and shape shows this, I take this to car shows and gets a lot of attention, This Jeep has never been off road or even in rain, I built this for shows and cruising to beach, I will try to mention everything I did to it as best as I can, I started with a clean car fax 93 YJ that had absolutely no rust or even a ding on it, Jeep originated from Hawaii and made its way here, I stripped the jeep completely down to nothing and repainted everything, even frame, When reassembling I used all stainless hardware for it all, I did not want to put old parts back on so I replaced everything new, bolts, seals and gaskets. I installed a BDS 6" lift with a duel steering stabilizer and SYE and CV driveshaft, I put 18x12 Fuel Hostage wheels and Nitto Mud Grappler 38/15.50/18 tires, I installed all new rock fenders and side rails, LED light bars, 50" a 20" and two 4", New windshield with all new seals, new carpet inside with all new seat belts and hardware, LED taillights, all new roll bar pads, Winch plate with Poison Spyder Hawse plate, Front Stinger bumper with D-rings, all black stainless hinges on doors, hood and tailgate, I also installed a brand new top with upper doors, The jeep has factory air but I removed the inside unit because the fan did not work and never reinstalled after I painted it, The jeep comes with 3 sets of doors all painted to match, full factory,Half and Safari, and comes with 3 tops, Full,Factory Hard top and bikini, I have over $25,000 invested in this and is not a junk jeep, This is one of the cleanest and nicest YJ's you will see, I was going to upgrade the drivetrain but I want to move to something else so put hold on it, it has Dana 35 and 30 with 411 gears, This jeep drives great for the size and gearing, I don't drive it much at all and sits in garage, I will sell for the right price, I will be fair but not giving it away. I have link to over 100 photos of the build. call or email me with any questions. 954-three09-12four3. I am sure I'm missing a ton of things so I will try to make a better list and post this weekend. I am trying to post the picture link but having issues, email me and I will send it to you. TurboCobra@me.com

China-FCA merger could be a win-win for everyone but politicians

Tue, Aug 15 2017

NEW YORK — Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne has said the car industry needs to come together, cut costs and stop incinerating capital. So far, his words have mostly fallen on deaf ears among competitors in Europe and North America. But it appears Marchionne has finally found a receptive audience — in China. FCA shares soared Monday after trade publication Automotive News reported the $18 billion Italian-American conglomerate controlled by the Agnelli family rebuffed a takeover from an unidentified carmaker from the Chinese mainland. As ugly as the politics of such a combination may appear at first blush, a transaction could stack up industrially, and perhaps even financially. A Sino-U.S.-European merger would create the first truly global auto group. That could push consolidation to the next level elsewhere. Moreover, China is the world's top market for the SUVs that Jeep effectively invented, so it might benefit FCA financially. A combo would certainly help upgrade the domestic manufacturer; Chinese carmakers have gotten better at making cars, but struggle to build global brands, and they need to develop export markets. Though frivolous overseas shopping excursions by Chinese enterprises are being reined in by Beijing, acquisitions that support the modernization and transformation of strategic industries still receive support, and the government considers the automotive industry to be strategic. A purchase of FCA by Guangzhou Automobile, Great Wall or Dongfeng Motors would probably get the same stamp of approval ChemChina was given for its $43 billion takeover of Syngenta. What's standing in the way? Apart from price (Automotive News said FCA's board deemed the offer insufficient) there's the not-insignificant matter of politics. Even as FCA shares soared, President Donald Trump interrupted his vacation to instruct the U.S. Trade Representative to look into whether to investigate China's trade policies on intellectual property. Seeing storied Detroit brands like Jeep, Chrysler, Ram and Dodge handed off to a Chinese company would provoke howls among Trump's economic-nationalist supporters. It might not play well in Italy, either, to see Alfa Romeo and Maserati answering to Wuhan instead of Turin — though Automotive News said they might be spun off separately. Yet, as Morgan Stanley observes, "cars don't ship across oceans easily," and political considerations increasingly demand local manufacture of valuable products.

Drive like a prince: Join us for a walk through Monaco's car collection

Fri, Dec 29 2023

Small, crowded, and a royal pain in the trunk lid to drive into during rush hour, Monaco sounds like an improbable location for a huge car museum. And yet, this tiny city-state has been closely linked to car culture for over a century. It hosts two major racing events every year, many of its residents would qualify for a frequent shopper card if Rolls-Royce issued one, and Prince Rainier III began assembling a collection of cars in the late 1950s. He opened his collection to the public in 1993 and the museum quickly turned into a popular tourist attraction. The collection continued to grow after his death in April 2005; it moved to a new facility located right on Hercules Port in July 2022. Monaco being Monaco, you'd expect to walk into a room full of the latest, shiniest, and most powerful supercars ever to shred a tire. That's not the case: while there is no shortage of high-horsepower machines, the first cars you see after paying ˆ10 (approximately $11) to get in are pre-war models. In that era, the template for the car as we know it in 2023 hadn't been created, so an eclectic assortment of expensive and dauntingly experimental machines roamed whatever roads were available to them. One is the Leyat Helica, which was built in France in 1921 with a 1.2-liter air-cooled flat-twin sourced from the world of aviation. Fittingly, the two-cylinder spun a massive, plane-like propeller. Government vehicles get a special spot in the museum. They range from a Cadillac Series 6700 with an amusing blend of period-correct French-market yellow headlights and massive fins to a 2011 Lexus LS 600h with a custom-made transparent roof panel that was built by Belgian coachbuilder Carat Duchatelet for Prince Albert II's wedding. Here's where it all gets a little weird: you've got a 1952 Austin FX3, a Ghia-bodied 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly, a 1960 BMW Isetta, and a 1971 Lotus Seven. That has to be someone's idea of a perfect four-car garage.  One of the most significant cars in the collection lurks in the far corner of the main hall, which is located a level below the entrance. At first glance, it's a kitted-out Renault 4CV with auxiliary lights, a racing number on the front end, and a period-correct registration number issued in the Bouches-du-Rhone department of France. It doesn't look all that different than the later, unmodified 4CV parked right next to it. Here's what's special about it: this is one of the small handful of Type 1063 models built by Renault for competition.

Chrysler recalling hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander SUVs

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

The public might associated ignition switch recalls with General Motors - and with good cause - but that's not the only automaker calling its vehicles back in to fix that sort of issue.
Last month we reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was investigating an array of Chrysler Group vehicles for electrical-related safety issues. The administration and Chrysler subsequently issued a recall for 700,000 Dodge Journey crossovers, Dodge Grand Caravan minivans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. But while the Jeeps that were also under investigation were not covered in that recall, they are being addressed in a separate one now.
Although Chrysler reports that it is only aware of a single accident stemming from this issue, it is "committing now to conduct a recall out of an abundance of caution." The recall affects the 2006-2007 Jeep Commander and 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, of which it reports there are 792,300 on the road: 649,900 in the United States, 28,800 in Canada, 12,800 in Mexico and a further 100,800 outside of North America.
