This Jeep is a bit of a fixer upper, but it still runs fine, it's a lot of fun to drive, and it's one of a kind! The GOOD: LT1 V8 Corvette engine with only approx. 64,000 miles on it, wheels and tires are only a few months old, the soft top is only a few months old, it has a Ford 9inch rear axle (which is one of the strongest out there) to manage the torque of the Corvette engine, lockers on rear wheels, it runs great, there's only minor cosmetic damage, and it's almost completely set up for 4 wheel drive (I have the front drive shaft, all you have to do is install it). The BAD: It can't pass an emissions test because of the engine swap (not an issue if you don't have to get emissions tested), the power steering is starting to go, but it's still driveable and the power steering fluid just needs to be changed out, the heat doesn't work very well, there is a small gap between the soft top and the doors (I'm in the process of converting it from full door to half door, the half doors will come with the Jeep), and the antenna is broken. I don't want to sell this Jeep, but I just moved to an area that requires emissions testing, and I don't have the time to make it passable. Jeep's Super 'Ute Is Fun Thrown In The Face Of Conventional Wisdom
Let's talk asses for a moment. What do they have to do with the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, you ask?
Well, we're here to tell you that this SRT can haul some. Lots of them, as a matter of fact: Jeep has increased the towing capacity of its most powerful SUV to 7,200 pounds. Assuming the average donkey weighs about 400 pounds, the Grand Cherokee SRT can haul ass to the tune of 18 burros, give or take a covered trailer or so, which is significantly more than it could in previous years. In 2013, the machine could manage 5,000 pounds, while the first generation was rated at just 3,500. The increase is mostly attributable to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and beefier rear axle, and it's a welcome update for those who'd like to use their SUV as, well, an SUV with an emphasis on utility.

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires

Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.
