You are looking at a 1992 Jeep Wrangler. This Wrangler is a 4 Cylinder 5 speed. The Jeep starts right up and runs without any strange engine noises. The 5 speed transmission shifts perfectly through all 5 gears, however there is a loud noise coming from the transmission in 4th and 5th gear. The Jeep can still be driven, but it is loud. This would be a great winter project or drive it just the way it is. Jeeps are great in snow, off road, and normal driving in the summer with the top off. This Jeep has an amazingly solid frame for its age. I have most of the frame shown in pictures. I also noticed that the floor pans are rotting out and will need attention, The 4 wheel drive works great. There is no AC, and the heat blows hot but it does not heat the Jeep well. The Body seems to be very solid, with the exception of some dings and scratches. As you can see in the pictures the Jeep has the oversize fender flares. They are in great shape. The wheels are the stock SE wheels and the tires are almost new. The doors look like they may be CJ doors. They were originally black, but painted green. As you can see in the pictures, the inside of the doors are still black. The front carpet is missing. There is an aftermarket radio in the Jeep, but it doesn't work at all. The interior is in decent shape. There is some staining on the carpet and the driver seat is pretty torn up. The passenger side seat and rear bench are in great shape. NHTSA still mulling crash tests for recalled Jeeps

Well, no one should ever accuse the government of not giving things plenty of thought. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is still debating whether it will retest any of the 1.56 million 1992 to 1998 Grand Cherokees and 2002 to 2007 Libertys that were part of a recall regarding fires after rear-end collisions. And yes, this debate has been going on for over a month. In other news...
The recall dustup started in early June, when Chrysler took the unusual position of refusing a recall request from NHTSA regarding placement of the fuel tank on the effected vehicles. NHTSA said a collision could cause a fire, a position Chrysler took issue with. Extensive negotiations ensued, with Chrysler agreeing to fit certain Jeeps with trailer hitches, which it said would provide some protection to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle in the event of a collision.
Part of the issue rests with the amount of data that needs to be processed, according to The Detroit News. NHTSA administrator David Strickland said during a Washington Auto Press Association meeting, "There's a lot of data and Chrysler is being very cooperative in giving us more data." Until that information has been sorted, it looks like re-testing will still be up for debate.

This may the year a Jeep hybrid is officially announced. Really. The Chrysler division may finally be making plans for its first gas-electric powertrain to help boost the group's fuel economy, says UK's Auto Express, citing Mike Manley, CEO of FCA's Jeep division. The guinea pig of sorts may be the Wrangler, which moved almost a quarter-million units in the US last year. The Wrangler could get a hybrid drivetrain by the 2017 model year, as Jeep executives look to maintain the model's feel and torque while boosting its fuel economy. The Wrangler gets a pretty paltry 18 miles per gallon combined out of its six-cylinder mill, so the bar's set pretty low. Of course, we've heard this talk before. In late 2013, Chrysler Asia-Pacific product planning manager Steve Bartoli told Australia's Drive that a Jeep hybrid was pretty much inevitable, though not much has been mentioned since. FCA could use all the help it can get in the fuel economy department. The group brought up the rear among automakers when it came to fuel efficiency, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said in its EPA Trends report released last October. The FCA models combined for a 21.1 miles per gallon average for the 2014 model year, compared to the 24.2 mpg overall industry average. The group's only electric vehicle in the US is the low-volume Fiat 500e, though the company may start selling a plug-in hybrid version of its Chrysler Town & Country by the end of the year.
