THIS JEEP WRANGLER WAS BOUGHT BY MY FATHER BRAND NEW IN 1991 IN INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. HE KEPT IT UNTIL 2009 WHEN I ACQUIRED IT AND BEGAN TO FIX IT UP. THERE ARE SO MANY NEW PARTS, IT IS HARD TO LIST.
I'LL START WITH THE ENGINE. IT WAS COMPLETELY TORN APART AND REBUILT FROM THE CRANK UP WITH ALL NEW PARTS PUT BACK INSIDE THE MOTOR. THE COSMETIC PARTS WERE RE-USED, BUT ALL THE INTERNAL PARTS ARE NEW.
I REBUILT THE ENGINE IN 2009 WITH THE JEEP HAVING 144,000 MILES ON IT. IT NOW HAS 154,000. THE TIRES WERE BOUGHT NEW IN 2010 AND MAYBE HAVE 6-7000 MILES ON THEM. THEY ARE 31 INCH TIRES.
THE SOFT TOP WAS ALSO BOUGHT NEW IN 2010 AND INSTALLED. THE JEEP HAS SAT MOST OF THE TIME DUE TO ME HAVING OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE BEEN DRIVING. I HAVE DRIVEN IT TO JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA ONCE AFTER THE REBUILD AND IT RAN WONDERFULLY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON A ROAD TRIP WITH OUT A TOOL BOX OR VERY COMFY SEAT CUSHION.
I REPLACED THE COIL, CAP, AND PLUG WIRES LAST MONTH, THE BATTERY IS FAIRLY NEW AND HAS A FULL CHARGE. THE LIGHT BAR ON TOP WAS ADDED AND ALL 4 LIGHTS DO WORK, BUT I ONLY HAVE 2 PLUGGED UP RIGHT NOW. I INSTALLED "LED" TAIL LIGHTS AND THEY ARE VERY BRIGHT AND EFFECTIVE.
THERE IS RUST UNDERNEATH, THE FRAME IS NOT RUSTED ANYWHERE. OR EVEN CLOSE TO BEING RUSTED IN TWO. BUT I WILL DECLARE THERE IS SOME RUST THROUGHOUT THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROMISE OR GUARANTEE THAT THIS JEEP IS WITHOUT DEFECTS OR UNKNOWN ISSUES. IT STARTS, DRIVES, AND THE RADIO WORKS.
THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN STRIPPED AND COATED WITH TRUCK ROLL ON BED LINER. THERE IS NO BACK SEAT. ALSO THE WINDSHIELD HAS A SMALL CRACK IN THE LEFT LOWER CORNER.
THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING, NO AIR BAGS, NO ABS BRAKES, JUST A PLAIN JEEP WITH A NICE ENGINE AND PAINT JOB!!! ALSO SOME OF THE GAUGES ON THE DASH CLUSTER ARE INOPERABLE. THE TEMP WORKS SOMETIMES, AND THE FUEL GAUGE IS TRICKY ALSO. USUALLY ABOUT HALF TANK MEANS YOUR RUNNING ON FUMES. IF YOU CAN FIND ME A YJ WRANGLER WITHOUT A FUEL GAUGE ISSUE, GOOD LUCK!! HAHA
ALSO, THE TOP DOES COME DOWN, BUT IT IS VERY HARD TO PUT BACK UP DUE TO THE LIGHT BAR BEING ON THERE. I DO NOT TAKE IT DOWN, JUST TAKE OUT THE WINDOWS AND YOU WILL HAVE PLENTY OF AIR. THE HEATER WORKS, BUT IF IT IS REALLY COLD, JUST DRIVE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, BECAUSE ALL THE HEAT WILL ESCAPE THROUGH THE THIN TOP AND YOU WILL FREEZE YOUR A## OFF!!! THE RADIO DOES WORK, ALSO HAS A USED SOUND BAR ATTACHED TO THE ROLL CAGE AND ARE PRETTY LOUD.
IF YOU LOVE JEEPS, YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE. I AM TRYING NOT TO FORGET ANYTHING, BUT IF I DO I'LL ADD TO THIS POSTING. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR ANY QUESTIONS OR SPECIFIC PICTURES OF THE JEEP. HAPPY BIDDING!

Daily Driver: 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X Edition
Thu, Apr 9 2015Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, reviewed by the staffers that drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X Edition, reviewed by Adam Morath. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. VIDEO TRANSCRIPT Hi, I'm Adam Morath for Autoblog. Now, undoubtedly, one of the coolest things about this job is that you're in and out of so many different vehicles, but, I'll be honest, there are times where, if you're in very similar vehicles, they can start to run together a little bit. That's why I love getting into a car like this that just snaps you right out of it because it's so unique and so different from anything else on the market. Of course I'm talking about the Jeep Wrangler. I'm in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This is the X Edition, which stands for X Games. Jeep is a big title sponsor of the 2015 Aspen X Games and you can see that all over this vehicle. You have white, glossy accent plastic in the interior; mountain graphics throughout the interior and exterior of the vehicle – a nod, obviously, to the winter sports and skiing that you would do out in Aspen. And then in keeping with that mountainous theme, you have an Alpine nine-stereo speaker system. I'll be honest, though, that some of it feels a little overdone to me. For instance, there's a power-bulge in the hood. Credit to Jeep: the vents are actually functional, but this is not the trim I would go for, just personally. It's one of those vehicles that people are always wondering, "I really like the look of it [and] I like the capability, but could I live with a Wrangler?" It's the same sort of question you'll get from people who are looking at a sports car, "could I actually live with this is my daily driver?" And I have to say, Jeep has come a long way – Wrangler, in particular, has come a long way – in terms of driving comfort. Of course, don't expect "Lexus quiet." You can probably hear it's a big noisy in the cabin. It's a bit of a bumpy ride. There are things about this vehicle that I could see being annoying in your day-to-day life. For instance, the door: it's essentially an external hinge on the door, but it doesn't stay open for you. So, if you're on any sort of a tilt, the door will come back in and you have to just prop it open with your leg. Little things like that.
FCA plotting larger Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500XL
Mon, Mar 23 2015The joint development of the new Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X goes to show what the combined efforts of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group can yield. But don't expect the Italian-American automaker to stop there. According to Autocar, the company is planning to base another pair of larger SUVs on the same platform. The Jeep version would take the place of the previous Compass and Patriot, slotting in between the Renegade and Cherokee. Meanwhile, the Fiat version would further bolster the Cinquecento lineup to sit alongside the 500 hatchback, 500L minivan and 500X crossover. Details remain few and far between at the moment, but they wouldn't be the extent of the growth plans for either brand. Jeep is reportedly zeroing in on a decision on the long-rumored sub-Renegade model, while also preparing to expand up-market with the return of the Grand Wagoneer. Fiat is reportedly abandoning the prospect of offering a full model line as it once did. While the 500 range will continue to form a vital part of the brand's business, it's also tipped to be going after the no-frills, bare-bones market dominated by Renault's Dacia brand. To that end, it would seek to build upon the Panda by offering a larger, but still low-cost hatchback to rival the Ford Focus and VW Golf, and succeed the discontinued Fiat Bravo, but based on the 500L's platform and built in Turkey to keep costs down. This second pillar of the Fiat brand wouldn't likely be offered in the US, however, where we'd expect the 500 line to continue representing the Italian automaker. Related Video:
Australian Jeep marketing stunt goes awry [w/video]
Tue, 15 Jul 2014Jeep fans in Australia are none too happy with the off-road brand following a contest that saw ten new Cherokees sold for just $10,000 Australian (about $9,400), roughly a quarter of the vehicle's price Down Under.
The contest, called the "World's Most Remote Dealership," gave Aussies the chance to snag an ultra-affordable Cherokee Longitude (analogous to the US-spec Latitude trim), provided they could get to a secret dealership in the remote wilderness of western New South Wales, near the border with the state of South Australia.
In order to get the exact location of the dealership, though, potential customers needed to download an app, which would release a phone number 9:00 AM AEST on Thursday (7:00 PM EDT, Wednesday night). The first ten people who could call in and prove they could afford to finance $10,000 and get to the remote dealership, were given the location of the remote dealership.
