Classic 1966 Jeep Wagoneer, 327 Vigilante, 4wheel Drive. This Wagoneer is a rare find an ebay search brought up only one '68 and it was already restored. If your looking for a Do It Yourself project look no further. This '66 is 90% original (a CB radio is the only add on) and, it runs great (driven weekly), the 4 wheel drive is in perfect working order, the back glass is cracked (but solid, window rolls up and down-no problem), the windshield has a small star crack, all other glass is perfect. It has under the dash air that I believe was factory in '66, it blows, but not cold (it may just need freon I don't know) we bought the Jeep in Colorado so air conditioning wasn't an issue. The alternator will not charge, there is some rust damage on the rear quarter panels, a 2 1\2 in tear in the rear seat, and two small tears in the head liner. The hood has an area where something took the paint off, but the metal wasn't affected except by a little rust. The interior upholstery and carpet has some stains and is worn, but not excessively so (not for a 47 year old Jeep by any means). The odometer hasn't worked since I've owned the Jeep, so I can't report the mileage, **I listed it as 999999 because they ask for a number**. However, this Jeep has been driven as a second vehicle to work etc.. for several years with minimal problems. We just installed new brakes ($500), points, and plug wires. This Wagoneer is the perfect start for a restoration project, no major damage to any part of the vehicle, a little paint and engine clean up and your well on your way. It will be hard to find another 1966 model Jeep Wagoneer 327 in this condition, for this price. Most are trashed or already restored.

Jeep Begins Fixing 1.56 Million Recalled Grand Cherokee, Liberty SUVs

Tue, Jan 14 2014

Chrysler is just now beginning the big job of fixing 1.56 million older Jeep SUVs seven months after a recall was announced, according to The Detroit News. Jeep Grand Cherokees sold between 1992 and 1998 and Jeep Liberty models sold between 2002 and 2007 are being recalled because the gas tank can leak in the event of a rear-end collision, leading to a fire. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration originally requested the recall of 2.7 million vehicles. Chrysler initially disputed NHTSA's findings and seemed willing to go through a court battle until an 11th-hour deal reduced the number of vehicles involved in the recall. The remaining vehicle owners left out of the recall will receive a "customer service action" notification and may not get fixed. Chrysler says the vehicles are safe and need no repairs. Fixing the 1.56 million Jeeps will cost Chrysler $151 million. NHTSA cited 51 deaths causes by such tank fires. Chrysler plans to install protective trailer hitches to protect the gas tanks, but even the automaker admits the hitches will only provide incremental protection in a low-to-moderate speed rear-end crash. Chrysler recalls small number of 2013-2014 cars and trucks over engine debris

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

Chrysler is recalling a small number cars over issues with their 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. The recall, which affects 522 examples of its 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 models, as well as 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot CUVs has to do with potential debris in the balance shaft bearings.
The abrasive stuff can cause the oil pressure to drop, which could lead to the engine stalling or outright failure. This situation could at best leave drivers stranded and at worst lead to a crash.
Chrysler will begin notifying owners, who will need to report in to have the balance shaft module replaced. All repairs are naturally free of charge. Scroll down for the bulletin from NHTSA.

China orders Jeep to investigate Wrangler fire risk

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

It's been some time since we've heard anything about fires related to the Jeep Wrangler (foreign or domestic), but it sounds like the go-anywhere SUV could be in hot water once again in China. Bloomberg is reporting that the Chinese government is ordering Jeep to investigate the matter and, in the meantime, also recommending Wrangler owners to not drive their vehicles in "extreme conditions" due to a "relatively high risk" of catching on fire.
There is no indication as to how many vehicles or which model years are affected, but the previous fire problems in both the US and China - which led to investigations but no recalls - were traced back to automatic transmission fluid leaks. The article, however, does not say what the potential problem is this time around as Jeep has not released a comment on the matter. The official notice, in Chinese, can be found here.
