Up for auction is a very nice 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. There were only 6,449 Grand Wagoneers produced in the 1990 model year, which was the next to last year of production. The 1989-1991 model years are considered the best due to improvements that Chrysler made after buying AMC/JEEP in 1987.
I purchased the Jeep in the spring 2013 and had it shipped from Georgia to New Jersey. I have invested a lot of money in it and was planning to enjoy it for a long time, but due to a new job and some financial issues, I have decided to sell it. It has been a lot of fun driving it around town this summer and getting stopped all the time to ask questions about it, everyone loves this Jeep and always says "I haven't seen one of these in a long time!" I am not a car "flipper" and will certainly not break even on what I have spent. Here are the details:
- 112,600 miles
- Georgia vehicle, I purchased it in spring 2013, it has never seen a northern winter
- NO RUST - rust is the common enemy of these vehicles
- Sand Metallic Exterior with Sand interior
- 360 2V V8, 3 speed automatic transmission
- 4WD (works)
- Air Cond (blows ice cold)
- Power Windows (all work, including rear window using key or dash switch)
- Power Locks (work)
- Power Seats (work)
- Power Steering and Brakes
- Power mirrors (work)
- Tilt Wheel
- Leather Seats
- Original thick carpet
- Original floor mats (drivers side shows a lot of wear)
- Factory ROL fog lights with black "Jeep" covers (very hard to find these now)
- Haynes Service Manual
- Original Owner's Manual
- Cargo cover - not in great shape but works
- 3 sets of keys
- Jeep key chain
Below is a list of the work that has been done on the Jeep in the last few months:
- Replaced valve cover gaskets
- Replaced intake manifold gaskets
- Replaced Transfer Case Seal
- Replaced Right Rear Axle Shaft Bearing Seal
- Replaced Power Steering Gear Box
- Replaced Power Steering Pump and hoses
- Replaced fog lamp switch
- Installed new fog lamp bulbs
- Installed new catalytic convertor (passed tough NJ emissions test)
- Replaced headlamp switch
- Replaced right passenger door power door lock actuator
- Installed new taillight lenses and bulbs
- Installed new Radiator Cap
- Oil and filter change
- New air filter
- Installed New thermostat
- Tune-up
- New Wire set, rotor, distributor cap
- New wiper blades
- New window wipes
- New A/C compressor
- New heater hose
- New Pioneer AM/FM HD radio CD player (original radio had already been removed)
- All four wheels professionally refinished
- All new seat belts professionally installed by a top interior shop in Northern NJ, including rear shoulder belts purchased from Wagoneer World (I did this so could have a child seat in the back). This was an option in 1990 but few purchased them!
- New interior kick plates installed
- New hood insulation pad
Based on service records, the following work was also done on the Jeep:
- New Engine - 110K miles (2006)
- New Radiator - 110K miles (2006)
- New fan shroud and gaskets - 110K miles (2006)
The last owner of the Jeep purchased it in 2006 and only drove it about 2,000 miles, as he owns several collector cars including other Grand Wagoneers. The Jeep starts up well and runs nicely. The cruise control, rear wiper, and compass/temperature gauge in the overhead console do not work. Replaced valve cover gaskets and intake manifold gaskets due to oil leaks. Still leaks a couple of drops, may be rear main seal, a common problem for these Jeeps. Two mechanics have said it is not a big deal at this time. The paint is good and still shines, but there are several scratches and nicks and chips, which can be seen in the pictures. I would have it repainted if I were keeping it, I was quoted $1,800 for a 2-stage repaint by a top auto body shop in Northern NJ that has done quality for me in the past. The original wood trim is in decent shape, as is the vinyl wood tape, but there are scrapes and scratches. The bumpers are ok, have a lot of scratches, I would have them refinished if I was keeping the Jeep. The bumper rubber is all there, has scratches and cuts in it.
Vehicle is sold as is, where is, without warranty. Pick up or shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I can hold the Jeep for a couple of weeks after payment, while shipping is arranged, if necessary. If there is anything else you would like a picture of please email me through eBay.
You are welcome to inspect the vehicle before the auction ends. It is located in Northern NJ about 1 hour from NYC. Any questions, please email me through eBay and I will be happy to answer.
$500 non-refundable deposit due via PayPal within 24 hours of auction ending, remaining due via Bank Cashiers/Certified check within 7 days.
I have set a fair reserve based on what these Jeeps are selling for on eBay. I will not disclose the reserve and will not end the auction early. The Jeep is NOT for sale locally, I intend to sell it on eBay if the reserve is met. Thank you for looking.

Hybrid and Electric Jeeps, Fiats, and Alfa Romeos to be built in Poland
Sun, Jan 3 2021WARSAW - Fiat Chrysler will invest more than $200 million in its plant in Tychy in Poland, where new hybrid and electric Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo models will be built, Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Gowin said on Tuesday. The investment comes as a boost to emerging Europe's largest economy, which is hoping a switch to electric vehicles can help its auto sector catch up with regional rivals including the Czech Republic and Slovakia. "Modern, hybrid and electric cars of the Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands will start to leave the factory in Tychy in 2022," Gowin wrote on Twitter. Gowin said there could be further investment in the plant in future but gave no details. Fiat Chrysler, which is planning a $38 billion merger with French rival PSA to create the world's No.4 carmaker, said in a statement that early preparations for the expansion and modernization of the plant started in late 2020. The plant in Poland's industrial southern region of Silesia is one of the company's largest and currently employs around 2,500 people. Fiat Chrysler confirmed that new hybrid and electric Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo models would be built in Tychy. It said the aim was to start mass production of the first of the three new passenger car models for the group's brands in the second half of 2022. Under a 2018-2022 plan, FCA pledged to invest 9 billion euros in electrification as part of investment plans totaling 45 billion euros. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Alaska Cannonball | 14,000 miles to Deadhorse and back
Fri, Jul 27 2018I've never delayed big adventure long enough to fill a bucket. But I do have a bucket item that dates to 1992: drive from Deadhorse, Alaska, to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Twenty-six years later, it's time. But first, I needed a vehicle. And a Jeep Wrangler was not my first choice. Growing up as a kid in the Midwest, I loved Jeeps. But around 10 years ago I went on a camping trip to Death Valley with a colleague, testing the early JK Wrangler against the competition. By the end of it, I couldn't justify the ergonomic and physical punishment for the admittedly massive capability. So two years ago, I bought a 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser project truck to make the journey. I paid too much, and the Cruiser revealed itself to be not a garage project, but the Manhattan Project. I took this as a good omen. Adventure begins in the deep end, so why wait to get there? During a break from discovering enough gremlins to reboot the movie franchise, I had dinner with Jeep's West Coast PR guy. I mentioned my plans for a six-month overlanding trek to Alaska. He said, "You know, we've got a new Wrangler coming out — that might be a good test of the chassis." My outside voice said, "That would be interesting." My inside voice said, "Hmmm." Anything's possible after 10 years, right? I might like it. Might. Many plans have gone awry on the way to this moment. It's taken more than a year to lock in a start date, because Jeep couldn't spare a Wrangler Rubicon. Everyone else in America keeps buying them. A suitable Wrangler was found eventually, but now the deed had to be done in three months, not six. What was going to be a comfortably-paced, backwoods roll up to Alaska and back has turned into the Rubicon Overland Cannonball. I know 14 weeks is plenty of time to drive to the Arctic and back. (Tierra del Fuego is officially off the itinerary.) However, the point of this trip is to fit in as much dirt, as many bucket-list trails, and all the wild America possible. That means my route's about 14,000 convoluted miles of criss-crossing the country in all the cardinal directions. And that's assuming everything goes to plan. Until last week, I was doing this trip with a friend from college who lives in Marietta, Georgia. He was the photo/video guy. Then he had a medical emergency, so the only trip he's taking is to the OR and rehab. Now I'm going by myself, and I think it's important to point out that I have no idea what I'm doing. That isn't modesty, that's truth: zero clue.
Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production
Sun, 28 Apr 2013In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.
